There were places in this book where I laughed, but I thought that the rat was a bit overtly dark and the ending was---for lack of a better term---a let-down. *Sighs*
So there, I've said it. It was a cute story, but I thought it wasn't light and fluffy enough. : )

I guess the total lack of "light & fluffy" was why I liked it so much. So many children's stories are just that- fluff. This was a change & seemed to have more depth. Not every story ends in happily ever after.
But I can understand where that would be off putting.
Have you ever read The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane (by the same author)?
