What exactly happened to Fade?

Kari I'm a little confused about what exactly happened to Fade in the Freak camp. I understood that he was beaten horribly, but later on things were making me wonder if he was raped or violated as well. I hate to even ask with what happened to Tegan but I'm trying to figure this out.

Jessica Grace Kelley I don't think anything was ever really confirmed. However, I was wondering the same thing, or that maybe they made him do something horrible that has caused some self loathing on his part.

I think it also really freaked him out being treated like an animal, like a meal. They dehumaninzed him and he thought he was going to die as something less than human. I don't think they violated him since they really did just treat him like food. It still messed with his head but I think he reaction is a bit much.

Leti Del Mar

Jessica Grace Kelley I agree with Leti. His reaction was extreme.

Addee Yeah I was thinking that too, that he was violated, so glad someone else has pointed that out, because that's how it read to me, but I don't think he was, I just think it's a huge pride thing that has been left open by Fade's lack of communication. He really needs to clarify the details, I would be really angry with him if I was Deuce for his self-pity. I am positive he will get it together in Horde...

Kari So glad it's not just me who's confused by this. I'm inclined to agree with all of you that it's just his pride that took a hit although I think his reaction is a little absurd. I guess I was so baffled because he's acting more like a victim than Tegan ever has.

Maria I also wondered the same thing when I finished reading Outpost, but I think Leti put it best, it was the fact that he was going to die as less than a human that traumatized him the most. On a side note has anyone read Horde yet?

Kari I'm now a third of the way through Horde and I love it. How about you?

Maria Finished it a week ago, so super good, Ann Aguirre finished it brilliantly!! I highly recommend it to anyone who has read Outpost :D

Thanks for that link. Clears everything up!

Jessica Grace Kelley loved the short story! I also loved how parts of it tie into horde. I just finished horde, and in my opinion it was the best final book in a series I have read it quite a while.

Ahhhhh thank you Maria, I loved it. Fade is perfection (damaged but still so strong and amazing.) And Edmund just makes me smile. By the way I loved Horde, it was mind blowing.

Addee Razorland is the best series I have read, Horde bought it all together brilliantly....

I was wondering if they were not only using humans as food but also to interbreed with the freaks which is why they were becoming smarter and more organized. I will wait for the answers until I read Horde which will be in the next couple of weeks.
