27) In the presentation to the aides, Garfield says scientists can't agree on what is a gene or how they work. Does this affect your opinion on whether they should continue genetic experiments?
The best way to understand how something works is to study and experiment with it. I think genetic experiments should continue, there is so much potential to cure genetic disease, but there are lots of ethical issues too.
28) What do you make of Lynn's behavior becoming more ape-like?
She is adapting her mothering to meet the needs of her new child with special needs.
29) Ellis got very physical trying to administer the spray on his mother. Would you force a treatment on a family member if you thought it could help or even save them?
No. While someone still has the mental capacity to make a decision, they should make their own informed decision. I'm so glad this one turned out to be just water spray and Ellis hasn't murdered his parents.
30) Advertising by modifying entire species?! Is nothing sacred? What do you think of that sea turtle? Are they protecting them or ruining them?
This is going too far. Monitoring a natural genetic mutation is one thing, but mutating species in an uncontolled natural environment is irresponsible and puts the whole species at risk. Advertising on native animals is not ok.
31) I can't believe Richard was petty enough to sell the parrot. What do you think will happen?
The parrot will give away top secret information.
32) Does the genetic defense work for you? Should we be able to argue our genes are to blame for crime?
People who claim insanity in a criminal case then receive psychological treatment instead of prison. Genetics might give you a predisposition toward something, but you still have the power of choice. I don't agree with the genetic defence.
I was also quite disturbed by the plan to kidnap Burnetts 8 year old grandson and forcibly take organ biopsies, claiming that all this was legal.

4) That's really interesting. I never thought of introverts and extroverts in that fashion but it makes sense. Makes me want to google more about it.
6) Lol. Monkeys taking over the world.
12) I was wondering where I had heard it before! House!
18) Lol. You and the monkeys again.

32) That plan disturbed me a lot too! I can't believe they are even thinking about snatching his grandson. There has to be laws against that even if they "own the genes".

27) That's a good point. We have to start somewhere.
28) Well said!
29) I had the same thought! Thank goodness it was just saline!
32) I agree. You can't really treat or rehabilitate someone's genes (yet), so they are just supposed to get off Scott free? And I was so horrified too by the planned kidnappings! That is so not okay.

33) Are you surprised that they put Dave in school? Do you think he'll ever recover from this incident and be able to fit in?
34) Sounds like Alex's dad knew something was going to happen soon. Do you think he's done something more than just head out of town?
35) I can't believe that Gerard is being passed around to so many people. If only they knew what he was worth!
36) Fertility drugs? That was the last thing I expected. It's amazing what a teenager will do for money. Could you ever imagine not only selling your eggs for profit, but injecting yourself with hormones to get more?
37) I've always been baffled on the things people sue about, but sueing your sperm donor dad for giving you bad genes? Is that really a thing?
38) What a cliffhanger! Do you think Dave will survive the night?

33. Lots of special needs kids go to mainstream schools but he wouldn't have the right support there as he wouldn't have a real diagnosis or plan. He is still part wild so may always have trouble with impulse control. I've been bitten this year by a special needs kid who was stirred up by another kid, it's not an unusual story and with s behavior plan and appropriate support kids like this can style in and complete school. Though other kids are mean and he may never be accepted by the majority.
34. Not sure what he's up to.
35. Poor Gerard. I hope things work out well for him. I like that parrot.
36. Egg donation is a much bigger deal than sperm donation. I wouldn't want my daughter doing it for money and not until she was older. I would consider donating eggs to a close friend or family member but it would be a difficult decision.
37. It could become a thing at the rate things are going. I don't think it's fair though. Anonymous donation should stay anonymous. This is up there with the gene defence. My dna made me take drugs and have underage sex. So will people start blaming their parents for giving them an obesity gene instead of McDonald's for selling food.
38. I hope Dave is ok.

33) Are you surprised that they put Dave in school? Do you think he'll ever recover from this incident and be able to fit in?
That was really surprising. I guess I didn't think Dave was adjusted well enough to be in that high functioning of an environment. They didn't explain very well what kind of learning he'd been exposed to at the lab, and I certainly think it was irresponsible to expect him to know human socialization cues when he'd spent his entire life in confinement!
34) Sounds like Alex's dad knew something was going to happen soon. Do you think he's done something more than just head out of town?
I wonder what kind of deal he made for that money. Why would he take the deal if it put his family in danger?
35) I can't believe that Gerard is being passed around to so many people. If only they knew what he was worth!
Gerard has me the most anxious in this book. I don't want anything to happen to him!
36) Fertility drugs? That was the last thing I expected. It's amazing what a teenager will do for money. Could you ever imagine not only selling your eggs for profit, but injecting yourself with hormones to get more?
I came very close to selling my eggs. I'm child free and figured if someone needed them, why not? It ended up not working out, but the process doesn't bother me. I hope to give my body to science when I die.
37) I've always been baffled on the things people sue about, but sueing your sperm donor dad for giving you bad genes? Is that really a thing?
Lawyers love to get creative, especially if there's money to be had.
38) What a cliffhanger! Do you think Dave will survive the night?
I hope everyone is okay. Yikes!

33) I never really thought of it in terms of a special needs kid. It makes a lot of sense though. Maybe they need to find dave a more specialized school for him to figure out life a bit more.
37) Lol on the obesity gene. I'm sure we're getting to the point where people will actually do it though. I mean if you can sue McDonalds for burning yourself on hot coffee and win, you can win just about anything.
@Logan
35) Sounds like you're pretty attached to Gerard. Although I don't blame ya at all.
36) That's an awesome thought, donating your body to science. I said that to my family and they got all angry because apparently I need to be in a box somewhere instead :-P

20) It's interesting to think of the changes you can do by messing with genes before birth. What'd you think of the "wet art" display article and all the pet changes? What would you do to your pet to make it more awesome?
It's a little creepy, I think they need to be careful with that type of stuff that they don't make lots of creatures suffer. A long time back (15ish years) I read a book that was based in the future and had tiny hand sized baby animals for pets. I really want a hand sized baby panda bear....
21) I wish I had a parrot that helped with my homework growing up! Who knew parrots could be so smart?
Oh gosh. I thought the parrot would have gotten super annoying really fast. It's like having a 4-5 year old constantly talking at you.
22) Looks like things are starting to come together and BioGen is the center of it all. What do you think of the plan to ruin the Burnett cells? I wonder if the woman is the same one from the prologue?
Hrm. I was thinking she was hired by that other place that was going to pay the 100 mil and that's why they didn't want him talking to his uncle. Or they're going to frame him worse.
23) Do you think Henry did the right thing taking Dave? Would you have done the same?
Yeah. It's not right to kill things just because you're trying to hide them. Especially something with that level of intelligence.
24) What do you think of the disease they invited in order to keep Dave safe? Were you surprised his wife went along and did all the leg work for it? Makes ya really think about what you read on the internet ☺.
Heh. I'm sure there's enough fictional stuff out there. I always question those fringe items now. Especially since newspapers and such are so wrong about things now since they don't do real research anymore.
25) Looks like Raza turned on his boss. Surprised?
Ha. I doubt any low level thief wouldn't turn.
26)Uh-Oh, bad news in the maturity gene realm. Do you think the spray will affect humans the same?
It looks like it is. I suppose if it made everything age faster it would explain the maturity. I think it's one of those parable type things of there's always a side affect.

27) In the presentation to the aides, Garfield says scientists can't agree on what is a gene or how they work. Does this affect your opinion on whether they should continue genetic experiments?
Well, the government pretty much shut down 23 and me recently for what they thought was misleading people. I think it's good to continue generic experiments as far as finding correlations. I think it's important to note though that a tendency towards something is not having it. I liked the 23 and me because it would note what you had higher risk for. It's not like you're going to get heart disease just because the magic numbers say it (obviously lots of environmental factors there), but it's nice to have an idea of what you may want to look for earlier in life. There are also useful scan's for genetic diseases that can be passed on to kids. I really don't know what I would do if they said one of our kids had something horrible at the 14 week check which is why we never had it done (if you're not willing to terminate then it just makes you worry more) but if you do have something horrible that runs in the family then it's useful for making sure you don't pass it on. I've always wondered what I would do if someone told me 100% that my child would have a ton of pain and then die within the first year. I've never been sure what the right answer to that question would be.
28) What do you make of Lynn's behavior becoming more ape-like?
Hrm. I think it's more just learning what comforts your child.
29) Ellis got very physical trying to administer the spray on his mother. Would you force a treatment on a family member if you thought it could help or even save them?
I wouldn't. By the time they're parent's they're old enough to make their own choices. I do force certain things on my kids (i.e. antibiotics for pink eye) but that's because an 8 month old cannot make a decision on that type of stuff.
30) Advertising by modifying entire species?! Is nothing sacred? What do you think of that sea turtle? Are they protecting them or ruining them?
Oh, I would hate that. I remember awhile back when they wanted to shine a giant spotlight at the moon that said sprite. I don't like how much advertising we have now and would hate if it invades areas we can't avoid at all.
31) I can't believe Richard was petty enough to sell the parrot. What do you think will happen?
I suppose it might be better than letting it out in the wild which might be a death sentence depending on where they live. I kinda doubt that the secret will stay hidden.
32) Does the genetic defense work for you? Should we be able to argue our genes are to blame for crime?
No. At least not for tendencies. If you're going to use that kind of excuse then you need to go into a facility or be on medication for life. You're not just allowed to do whatever you want because you have low impulse control. It reminds me a lot of the book Allegiant. They had genetic type differences in the laws too.

33) Are you surprised that they put Dave in school? Do you think he'll ever recover from this incident and be able to fit in?
I dunno. I probably would have tried home schooling. I'd imagine it would be pretty hard to toss a kid with no social experience into school even without any other difficulties.
34) Sounds like Alex's dad knew something was going to happen soon. Do you think he's done something more than just head out of town?
I thought he had gone into hiding with that other firm that offered him the money. I assume they're the ones helping to make sure the kids can't give more samples.
35) I can't believe that Gerard is being passed around to so many people. If only they knew what he was worth!
Heh. I find it hard to believe that someone doesn't guess the bird is special. Especially someone who works at a pet store...
36) Fertility drugs? That was the last thing I expected. It's amazing what a teenager will do for money. Could you ever imagine not only selling your eggs for profit, but injecting yourself with hormones to get more?
That seems really wrong at 16... It seems strange that you can't sell organs but you can sell eggs and sperm. I'm not sure where the difference is. Sperm regenerates but eggs don't. I wonder what the legal difference is between eggs and organs. Looks like there's a lot of news articles about it http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jasmine....
http://www.theatlantic.com/health/arc...
I liked this quote from the article: "It's hard not to wonder how those possible kids turned out, but of course I signed away the right to know. I used it to buy time, to finish a book that I did finish, which an agent is shopping around now. More often I just imagine my presence as a running joke in those two families, the perpetual scapegoat for anything the parents didn't want to rise out of their mess of DNA. She's always picked last for softball teams -- blame the donor. She has ADD -- blame the donor. She caught a cold, has a pimple, doesn't like pineapple -- blame the donor."
37) I've always been baffled on the things people sue about, but sueing your sperm donor dad for giving you bad genes? Is that really a thing?
http://www.lifenews.com/2012/02/23/pa...
Looks like people sue the sperm bank which makes more sense. I'm not sure how you'd sue someone for something they didn't even have a test for yet.
http://bayblab.blogspot.com/2009/05/k...
And one for fragile X being passed on.
From google it looks like you can sue the sperm bank for gene stuff and the actual donor for child support but I didn't see any for suing the donor for gene stuff. I suppose if they lied on the application they filled out you probably could but other than that I'd expect liability to stop with the sperm bank.
38) What a cliffhanger! Do you think Dave will survive the night?
Hrm... It's not like they can take him to a doctor. I wonder if they'll have to bring him to a vet :)

I've actually been thinking lately it would be awesome if they could take braindead Type O people and keep them as blood making machines. It's a little creepy but not worse than donating your body to other science stuff plus they wouldn't have to keep testing the blood since there's be no new diseases. It would be even better if they could just make a machine that could pump out blood somehow but that seems harder.
I think I'd vastly prefer donating my organs just because it has the opportunity to help people right away. I think the only thing I dont' think I could stomach would be going to a body farm. Too creepy for me.

30) I completely agree!
37) It would make sense (I guess) to sue over genetic issues that may end your kids life sooner or something, but it seems over the top to sue for things like drug addiction or what not because of the "genes".
Your blood machine makes me think of the matrix, just before the machines take over ☺. It's a really interesting thought though.

There was also an authors note and I loved this quote explaining why gene patenting is absurd.

39) Not a gunshot to Jamie. Thank goodness! Were you surprised that Lynn fought so hard to keep Dave after this incident? Were you surprised that Henry didn't?
40) Alex seems to have a pretty good head on her. Could you imagine being on the run like that? I'd probably be caught in an hour (at most ☺).
41) Do you think Ellis and Aaron will get very far with their lawsuit? Think Josh will end up losing his job after all? Or worse?
42) Ouch. Brad had definitely got himself into more trouble. Do you think his attorney exists? Why would he give Brad a fake name/number?
43) Poor Gerard! Did you think Stan would actually follow through with his threat to leave the bird outside? At least Gerard figured out how to fly!
44) Vasco and Dolly are back officially! Think they'll catch Alex and Jamie? Or will Alex outsmart them?
45) A few new articles: what are your thoughts on dog sized cockroaches? Forever puppies? Liposuction fat soaps? Fat powered racing boat? Eating your own fat? Or worse, someone else's?
46) Tracking your children? At least he didn't implant it in them, I guess. Think parents everywhere would do this if they could?

39) Not a gunshot to Jamie. Thank goodness! Were you surprised that Lynn fought so hard to keep Dave after this incident? Were you surprised that Henry didn't?
Phew, no one shot. Lynn has bonded closely with Dave and has strong maternal instincts. Henry doesn't seem so hands on.
40) Alex seems to have a pretty good head on her. Could you imagine being on the run like that? I'd probably be caught in an hour (at most ☺).
It's amazing what lengths you go to to protect your children.
41) Do you think Ellis and Aaron will get very far with their lawsuit? Think Josh will end up losing his job after all? Or worse?
They don't have anything to claim, but Josh has a lot to cover up, so they might get an out of court settlement.
42) Ouch. Brad had definitely got himself into more trouble. Do you think his attorney exists? Why would he give Brad a fake name/number?
Someone set him up in the first place and I think they are still manipulating the situation.
43) Poor Gerard! Did you think Stan would actually follow through with his threat to leave the bird outside? At least Gerard figured out how to fly!
Yay Gerard!
44) Vasco and Dolly are back officially! Think they'll catch Alex and Jamie? Or will Alex outsmart them?
Go Alex Go!
45) A few new articles: what are your thoughts on dog sized cockroaches? Forever puppies? Liposuction fat soaps? Fat powered racing boat? Eating your own fat? Or worse, someone else's?
Ewwww.
46) Tracking your children? At least he didn't implant it in them, I guess. Think parents everywhere would do this if they could?
Lots of mobile phone aps so you can track your children with their phone.

39) Not a gunshot to Jamie. Thank goodness! Were you surprised that Lynn fought so hard to keep Dave after this incident? Were you surprised that Henry didn't?
Lynn got very attached very quickly. Now that she sees him as her son I think she can excuse any behavior. I was surprised, though.
40) Alex seems to have a pretty good head on her. Could you imagine being on the run like that? I'd probably be caught in an hour (at most ☺).
Me too! I'd be terrible on the lam. lol
41) Do you think Ellis and Aaron will get very far with their lawsuit? Think Josh will end up losing his job after all? Or worse?
I hope not. But I hope Josh has a way to prove there was only saline in that cartridge! He probably should lose his job. That's a big error.
42) Ouch. Brad had definitely got himself into more trouble. Do you think his attorney exists? Why would he give Brad a fake name/number?
I don't trust that attorney. Feels like another setup to me.
43) Poor Gerard! Did you think Stan would actually follow through with his threat to leave the bird outside? At least Gerard figured out how to fly!
That was scary! I'm glad he made it out okay.
44) Vasco and Dolly are back officially! Think they'll catch Alex and Jamie? Or will Alex outsmart them?
I think Alex is smart enough to get away from them.
45) A few new articles: what are your thoughts on dog sized cockroaches? Forever puppies? Liposuction fat soaps? Fat powered racing boat? Eating your own fat? Or worse, someone else's?
Oh the fat eating was SO gross! No way!
46) Tracking your children? At least he didn't implant it in them, I guess. Think parents everywhere would do this if they could?
I think it's a good idea when they're tiny, but if I was a teenager I'd hate it! :)

39) Maybe it has something to do with the fact that Dave looks up to women so much more than men.
@Logan:
40) Glad I'm not the only one that doesn't seem to have a suddenly on the run plan. I'm ready for zombies, but not bounty hunters ☺

39) Not a gunshot to Jamie. Thank goodness! Were you surprised that Lynn fought so hard to keep Dave after this incident? Were you surprised that Henry didn't?
I think Henry is too used to the research frame of mind and feels guilty but still thinks of Dave as an experimental animal.
40) Alex seems to have a pretty good head on her. Could you imagine being on the run like that? I'd probably be caught in an hour (at most ☺).
Hrm. Yeah with no time to plan I don't think people would last long. They had the guy from wired who tried to disappear for awhile. http://www.wired.com/vanish/2009/11/f.... I imagine with no planning, a kid and experienced hunters it would be even harder.
41) Do you think Ellis and Aaron will get very far with their lawsuit? Think Josh will end up losing his job after all? Or worse?
Hrm. I don't really feel like the first one was his fault though he certainly should have reported it. I'm guessing they'll be a way to tell that he didn't dose them.
42) Ouch. Brad had definitely got himself into more trouble. Do you think his attorney exists? Why would he give Brad a fake name/number?
I think they're just making him do real bad things in case the fake ones don't stick.
43) Poor Gerard! Did you think Stan would actually follow through with his threat to leave the bird outside? At least Gerard figured out how to fly!
Heh. I might of. That bird is really annoying.
44) Vasco and Dolly are back officially! Think they'll catch Alex and Jamie? Or will Alex outsmart them?
I hope she outsmarts them. It's odd since I kinda liked them at the very beginning. I do question why they'd choose the kid over the daughter though. You think you'd want a 1/2 chance of having the cells over a 1/4. (Odds may be wrong based on the complexity of the gene but still, daughter has a higher probability than the kid.)
45) A few new articles: what are your thoughts on dog sized cockroaches? Forever puppies? Liposuction fat soaps? Fat powered racing boat? Eating your own fat? Or worse, someone else's?
The fat stuff is really gross. Kinda reminds me of the whole breastmilk into cheese/ice cream. It's not like breastmilk is bad but turning it into something and eating a stranger's is really odd. I imagine there would be disease concerns as well.
Forever puppies I don't think I'd like. I kinda like that animals grow up and get more mellow. Puppies are cute and fun but a short time is good. Kinda like toddlers....
46) Tracking your children? At least he didn't implant it in them, I guess. Think parents everywhere would do this if they could?
Heh, they can do it. Google "Electronic tracking kids" http://www.brickhousesecurity.com/cat...
Lots of info about crazy stuff you can do here:
http://www.freerangekids.com/track-yo...
I think it's probably a good thing if you have a severely disabled kid or maybe an elderly person with mental health issues. But other than that it's way overkill.

47) Dave to the rescue, yet again. Is there anything this monkey won't do for his family?
48) What did you think about the court case about the Burnett cell line?
49) So much happening so fast! Jamie kidnapped, Dave biting off ears, Gerard helping out with his mimicking...What'd you think of how everything went down?
50) What did you think of the Judge's ruling? Think he made the right call?
51) I can't believe Brad managed to get himself in even more trouble then before.
52) In the end the Kendall's are one big happy family. The dream of 2 kids, an ape/human, and a smart bird. Were you surprised that everything came out about Dave?
53) Any questions that were never answered or things you wish the book had addressed?
54) Rating? What'd you like/dislike about this book?

39) That's a good point. Lynn would just see him as someone needing help where as Henry is used to separating himself from his work.
44) My guess is the kid is easier to get to then the mom?

47) Dave to the rescue, yet again. Is there anything this monkey won't do for his family?
I imagine having only a few people you care about in the world makes things simpler. It's the same way with dogs. They'll defend their family too.
48) What did you think about the court case about the Burnett cell line?
At least they resolved it in a reasonable way. I can't believe the judge didn't immediately make them stop pursuing Alex and Jamie until the judgement was in.
49) So much happening so fast! Jamie kidnapped, Dave biting off ears, Gerard helping out with his mimicking...What'd you think of how everything went down?
Didn't seem like Gerard helped too much. I wish that plot line had been pulled in better than it was. I was surprised the guy was still walking around fine after his ear had been bitten off.... you'd think that would have attracted enough attention to cause problems.
50) What did you think of the Judge's ruling? Think he made the right call?
Yeah. (See question 48). Though I was a bit confused as to if it was a higher court that was overturning something or if it was a semi separate case.
51) I can't believe Brad managed to get himself in even more trouble then before.
Heh. He's not the brightest crayon in the box. There had to be something a bit wrong with him to get that far down though.
52) In the end the Kendall's are one big happy family. The dream of 2 kids, an ape/human, and a smart bird. Were you surprised that everything came out about Dave?
Hrm... I'm surprised they didn't take him away. I think there are laws about owning primates in the US. Maybe he's not primate enough? I wonder if he'll get to vote :) Maybe that will be the 28th amendment.
53) Any questions that were never answered or things you wish the book had addressed?
I wish some of the plots had come together a bit more. It's odd to follow a story through the whole book only to have it mostly dropped at the end.
54) Rating? What'd you like/dislike about this book?
I gave it a 4. I thought it was well written but a bit to scattered to get a 5.

47) Dave to the rescue, yet again. Is there anything this monkey won't do for his family?
Very loyal and protective.
48) What did you think about the court case about the Burnett cell line?
I agree with Kelly, the judge should have stopped the bounty hunters chasing a child while he was ironing out the finer points.
49) So much happening so fast! Jamie kidnapped, Dave biting off ears, Gerard helping out with his mimicking...What'd you think of how everything went down?
I liked how it brought a few of the stories together.
50) What did you think of the Judge's ruling? Think he made the right call?
Good start to undoing some of the poor precedent set out by previous cases.
51) I can't believe Brad managed to get himself in even more trouble then before.
Oh Brad....
52) In the end the Kendall's are one big happy family. The dream of 2 kids, an ape/human, and a smart bird. Were you surprised that everything came out about Dave?
They couldn't have hidden the truth forever. Warm fuzzies that they are all a big happy family now.
53) Any questions that were never answered or things you wish the book had addressed?
There were a few plots that just dwindled off.
54) Rating? What'd you like/dislike about this book?
I enjoyed the sciency stuff. I don't like trying to follow so many story lines, I get a bit lost (especially when reading other books too). I understand that the author did this on purpose, intending to structure the book a bit like the structue of a genome. (See post 70 for that quote)
I'd give it 4 out of 5.

48) That surprised me as well.
53) I concur. I thought there wasn't really a climax except in one plot line...others weren't really needed. Some never actually ended. But I guess it gave us a bigger picture of all things genetics right now.
@Renee:
54) Glad you liked it enough for a 4. I'm in complete agree-ance about the dwindling plot lines and the following too many things at once. I still don't get the connection of some characters...or if they are even the same people.

14) This lab seems to have all sorts of problems! Stealing bones, faking blood tests, warning wives who possibly poisoned their husband...what will they do next?
Seems like they really only were stealing bones and the rest of them all came from that. I imagine once you start slipping it's easier to do all the rest.
15) After hearing from Robbin' Rob, what's your first impression? What do you think of his religious argument? How about the patenting of human genes?
I really don't like the patenting of genes. I think it's fine to patent the drugs that come from them but I don't like doing the genes. If necessary they should be short patents. Maybe a 5 year max on them so companies get a nice head start but it doesn't impede others from working with it. What happens when all the genes are patented. It makes no sense. I feel the same sort of way about computer patents. I work in the field and the length that they give them out for is ridiculous. They need to vary patent length by the turnover time in the field they're in.
16) Looks like someone isn't paying much attention with this guy's body. Lead where the bones should be? And how many people are really involved in this whole bone stealing thing?
Hrm. It seemed like they tried to blame the funeral home but it was really the other guy who was working that did it.
17) Seems like Brad is in quite a mess. Of course there's more to it, always someone plotting some big dramatic plan. Were you surprised to hear the girl had made everything up or that this was a revenge plan?
It went a lot further than I expected but the scene did seem set up. I kinda doubt too many hot 18 year old would sleep with someone just to get alcohol. Though even if he just admits to that he's in some trouble.
18) Did you expect Rick's wife to flee after being asked for testing? What do you think she's hiding?
That seems really extreme. Maybe she's secretly a monkey!
19) Rick found out about Josh's endeavors with the maturity drug. Did you expect the positive reaction?
I suppose learning that it could be a huge money maker is always a good thing. I'd expect him to ream him out for not making his mother stop talking about it.
