[Michelle, Overrun By Pets]

I really like the cover. It imparts intrigue, mystery and an uncontrollable urge to rip off the remaining paper so you can view the bird in its entirety. The bird is also pretty darn cute. I like the juxtaposition between the very plain paper and the painting underneath.

I ran into this novel after finishing the superbly intense Night Film. I was nearing the end of a vacation to NYC and the synopsis of this novel grabbed me by the lapels. I almost just started reading it... but after showing my wife we agreed it should be this month's book selection for Mic Breaks.

This cover evokes intrigue and a cringe from me - the cringe is my natural reaction to seeing what looks like a damaged book. I love it, I want to know the mystery of the beautiful picture peering at me from behind that tear.
