Steph (angel4492) | 32758 comments Hi, ladies! Thrilled and a bit scared about being on a team with Mistress Judithe. ;) She can be rather fierce with the whip, but I know she'll keep me on my game.

Where are y'all located? I'm in Cali.

Any volunteers to be our captain? I'll think of some team name suggestions soon. Can't wait to get started. :) Go, team 3!

Which group hosted your last one, Cheryl?

Mandy Sickle (thereadingdiaries) | 228 comments I'm between Sac and San Fran at Travis AFB. Middle of nowhere but close to everything.

Steph (angel4492) | 32758 comments Sounds nice(r). We're about an hour from Palm Springs, so not too bad. But, nothin' but lots and lots of desert around here.

Trying to think of some names for us …
Triple threat
Third time's the charm

Okay, so nothing very creative is coming to mind. I'll keep thinking on it.

It was the Cozy Mystery group. I go back and forth between cozies and UF/paranormal. And yes I know that sounds a little schizophrenic! ;-)

message 14: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Konban-wa! And I'm no way as scary as Steph is making me out to be! BTW, you do all have your Free space reads picked and ready to start, don't you? I'm in Japan, and think Steph should move back to our neighborhood, or at least timezone (everyone, come visit!)

Ready & rarin' to start in the morning. I've played and loved all rounds! I think we're just waiting for Carrie to check in, now!

Having taught 9 classes today, my brain is a mess in regards to names. Maybe that will change after a chu-hi! (Which is an alcoholic beverage that I'm more than ready to consume!)

Last, who wants to be captain?

message 15: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Sickle (thereadingdiaries) | 228 comments So the first week we can read two plus the free spot?

message 16: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Sickle (thereadingdiaries) | 228 comments My hubby has been to Japan so many times I keep saying I want to go. One day!!! So for now I'll just be super jealous of you Judithe =D

I've not been captain before. If no one else wants to I can give it a shot it will be my first time.

I'm terrible with names. I'm still thinking about it.

message 17: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Great, Mandy! Still waiting to hear from everyone else, but! And no worries, lots of help for any questions!

message 18: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Went to a generator:

Rhino Dynamos
Sneaky Spiders
Venomous Dynamos (sensing a theme here...)
Tornado Bandits
Kamikaze Monkeys

Giving up on that!

Mandy Sickle (thereadingdiaries) | 228 comments Carrie you want to be captain?

message 23: by Carrie (last edited Nov 02, 2013 12:46PM) (new)

Carrie (icanhasbooks) | 716 comments I don't think I'll be able too. I can help the captain if needed but I won't be able to play the role of captain. Too much on the go and I can't promise I'll always be around when the shelf is going to be called. But like I said I can help if needed.

message 24: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Free Space Rules are here. We can read these, now, too! I picked mine out last night...while pacing/waiting for the start!

In a nutshell, (head to the thread for the handy links and lovely format!)

(1) An SOS Book of the Month: Any month while the game is in play

OR

(2) A book off of any of the group's new release thread folder or the group's new release thread archive folder: Any book listed on one of the new release threads; no matter the date of release

OR

(3) A book off of the group's bookshelf: Any shelf or tag; No date restriction - books added at anytime may be chosen

Be sure to post on your team's thread: which book you chose for FREE SPACE credit, which of the three options above you used to pick your book, your rating and your review once you've read it.

message 28: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Free Space: Lover At Last (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #11) by J.R. Ward

Storm's Heart (Elder Races, #2) by Thea Harrison The Unbearable Lightness of Dragons (Light Dragons, #2) by Katie MacAlister Kiss of Fury (Dragonfire, #2) by Deborah Cooke The Black Dragon (Dragon #2) by Allyson James Mercy Burns (Myth and Magic, #2) by Keri Arthur

message 29: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Sickle (thereadingdiaries) | 228 comments I can Captain first timer though. I just got home so I'll have to check out the shelves.
Do I need to do anything before posting our reviews?

message 30: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25914 comments Mandy, have a look at previous rounds to make it easy for you.

My top suggestion is to grab a post and make it your master list of all shelves/members/books & a link to their reviews. All reviews are posted on your team thread so that makes it easy.

message 31: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Sickle (thereadingdiaries) | 228 comments Awesome!! I'll go have a look.

message 32: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (last edited Nov 02, 2013 05:20PM) (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Very good advice, and just what I would've said! Thanks, Sandra!!

And you even have the TOP spot on our thread already! You can just add to your "hello" and keep track of the shelves there.

Previous rounds are archived on the general discussion line. I'll link to a couple of easy examples below.

A shelf master list for a team: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

A weekly update post: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 33: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Oh, and once all the reviews are completed, make an announcement in the Stamp Me thread (opening soon!), and include a link to your update post for that shelf.

message 34: by Steph, Serious series addict (last edited Nov 02, 2013 06:34PM) (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32758 comments Woohoo, teammies, our first shelves! Thanks, Mandy, for taking the lead as our fearless captain. I've yet to think of some name ideas, but am happy to go with whichever the group likes. Yeah, I might'a exaggerated Miss Judithe's scary factor. ;) And, I'd love it if we could head back to JP! Missing it terribly. As well as being in the same time zone as my buddies.

For kick-ass heroine, I'll definitely be reading ARCHANGELS LEGION. Not sure which I'll pick for dragons; I'll get back to ya on that. Same with free space, but hope to get that outta the way sooner rather than later. That way I can focus on shelf reads only for the rest of the game.

message 35: by Moondance (new)

Moondance (moondance120) | 2141 comments Thanks, Mandy. I was team captain on the Bingo I just completed. Please let me know if I can help in any way. Although we have some pretty awesome seasoned players on our team!

message 36: by Moondance (new)

Moondance (moondance120) | 2141 comments Of course my copy of Friday Night Bites (Chicagoland Vampires, #2) by Chloe Neill is not on my bookshelf so I am reading Web of Lies (Elemental Assassin, #2) by Jennifer Estep . I am behind in this series and need to catch up.

message 37: by Moondance (new)

Moondance (moondance120) | 2141 comments Shelf: Kick ass heroine
Web of Lies (Elemental Assassin, #2) by Jennifer Estep
Completed: 11.03.13
Rating: 4 stars
Review:

Gin Blanco is trying to enjoy retirement after the loss of her handler, Fletcher. An attempted robbery at the Pork Pit followed by a shooting and the attack of an innocent girl puts her back in the assassin business. Heavy hitters with money, power and magic try to prevent Gin from discovering what is truly going on. Detective Donovan Caine is back as her love interest....or not. The assortment of giants, drawves, vampires and elemental magic users provides a rapid pace for the story. Reagan deals with memories of her lost family and the knowledge that her baby sister is still alive. I really enjoy Estep's ability to grab your attention with her storylines and look forward to continuing the series.

Steph (angel4492) | 32758 comments Go, Cheryl! :) I've started Archangel's Legion, but I'm caught up in football today. As much as I'd like to take my time and savor it, I'm sure I'll gobble it up soon. Still trying to decide on a book for 'dragons' and the FS.

Any votes for team names?

Hope everyone has a great day! Happy Reading!

The time change was to my advantage. Sunday is my day to relax and that means reading! I hit the generators for names as well. Three times the charm? Off to start my dragon book. ;-)

message 40: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32758 comments Sweet! :D Happy Reading!

message 41: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32758 comments I'm going to read Kinked (Elder Races, #6) by Thea Harrison for 'dragons'. For my FS read, I'm thinking about one of these: Horde (Razorland, #3) by Ann Aguirre , Pretty When She Destroys (Pretty When She Dies, #3) by Rhiannon Frater , A Kiss of Blood (Vamp City, #2) by Pamela Palmer or something else entirely. >;)

message 42: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Sickle (thereadingdiaries) | 228 comments Alright finished my speed reading book. So time to pick out the bingo books. I can read three this week correct ladies? Dragons, Kick ass, and free? just making sure planning my reading week the best I can.

So I just need to make a post of all the reviews and post on the stamp request linking to my post here?

message 43: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32758 comments Yep, three books - the two shelves + free space. :)

That's right. You can use your initial post ( message #5) as the master list, if you'd like or you can start a new one - up to you, but sometimes 1st page posts are easiest for everyone to find.

Each week, share which books we read with links to our reviews. Then, when you request our stamps, share a link to that list with your request. You may find it helpful to check out previous rounds to see how others have done it. Or you can scope out how captains this round are making their list. We'll help ya out as you go. :)

message 44: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Loving AL!!

Just realized we are the ONLY team that hasn't decided our name...

THE NAMELESS ONES....

EEK!
Everyone throw out one suggestion? Here's mine...

(Triple Threat was used in Round 2 so think another choice might be better..))

Triple Kamikaze Readers (just because it was one word that came up in the random hunt...)

message 45: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Sickle (thereadingdiaries) | 228 comments The Nameless Ones lol. It could work. I'm sure that isn't what you're going for but it made me giggle. I'm goo with anything.

message 46: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Sickle (thereadingdiaries) | 228 comments K I set up my post #5 as the running list I guess does this look right?

message 47: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25914 comments Mandy, it looks good, but the review link should be to Moondance's review on this thread.

To do that you actually right click on the date/time link on the right hand side of her comment then click on copy link location, it will look like this (without the extra space)

https://www.goodreads.com/topic /show/1554524-r8-team-3?page=1#comment_86098655

then you just make it pretty like you did already.

If that's not clear after you have a go just post here and I'll go through it step-by-step ;)

message 48: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Sickle (thereadingdiaries) | 228 comments Ah I clicked the wrong one. It works now =D

message 49: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

message 50: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (icanhasbooks) | 716 comments I'm going to be reading Hex Hall (Hex Hall, #1) by Rachel Hawkins for my kick ass heroine book, still debating the dragon and FS book.
