What did you think of Sleepy Hollow and/or Doctor Sleep? Put your comments here!

Laura (ratatosk) | 26 comments Watched the first two episodes of Sleepy Hollow because of Jose Molina's involvement. Not sold yet; the Brooding Dark Hero thing isn't my bag, though I like BDH well enough as part of an ensemble. Especially if Buffy or Kitty Pride is also in the group. Got some episodes stacked up on my DVR. Someone let me know if a Buffy shows up?

Jennifer I'm way behind on Doctor Sleep. I've just finished re-reading The Shining so I have the back story fresh in my head. I am enjoying it so far. And I was sooooooo happy when I read a Joe Hill character reference. Eeeep!

I enjoyed Sleepy Hollow. Sometimes I have a tough time with older stories in the way that they're written, and seem to take ages to set things up. I tried to read some Charles Dickens ghost stories and had to give up. But, I stuck with Sleepy Hollow. If anything it had me gripped. I enjoyed the setup very much, although it wasn't scary at all.

The ending however, was really good. It was even a little bit creepy. I enjoyed it so much that I tried to read some more of his stories (but didn't find any half as good.

What did you think Nicole?

I absolutely loved Doctor Sleep, I thought it was great fun to read, and see where these characters were now in their lives. I would definitely recommend it! The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is one of my all time favorites, and I agree, the ending is amazing. It is something any lover of a spooky story and older fiction must read, it's a classic!

Jennifer I've just finished Doctor Sleep. I gave it 3.5 stars.

I loved reading about Danny, his story was very interesting. Seeing the other characters from The Shining was fun too.

I liked Abra, her story was great too. But, my problem was that she was just too strong. There was no way she was going to lose.

Also, the True Know were boring. I had no interest in them whatsoever. I just wanted them to be destroyed. They weren't scary at all. You need to hate the bad guys. I was too 'meh' to care.

I enjoyed Doctor Sleep and am glad that I've read it. I would have enjoyed it more if it were a stand alone book. In my opinion it fails as a sequel to The Shining.
