worst book you have ever read that's popular?

Nooo not the uglies. It just kept pointed out flaw after flaw after flaw. The characters were developed but they never grew. Similar mistakes, step backs, and flaws. :(

But it was so good, the protagonist grew, sure she was a crybaby at first. Kinda like a overgrown baby, but she end up changing for the better and everything. I really did like that book. 📖

I loved "City of Bones" , it's one of my favorite books ever. I also really liked "City of Ashes" and "City of Glass". (In my opinion this is where the story should have ended.)
But I just can't stand "City of Fallen Angels", "City of Lost Souls" and "City of Heavenly Fire". The story dragged on and on and it somehow felt like all the characters made stupid decisions again and again. I really wanted to like these books, but I couldn't.

Where were the intelligent, bad ass heroines at?! All I got was examples that young (or any!) people should never learn from. 'Problematic' doesn't even begin to describe these books...I was very disappointed.

Same, I really like the first two but I couldn't get passed ten chapters in the mockingjay.

I really enjoyed this series when it first came out, but I reread them last year and was SO disappointed.
The only one I'd ever consider re-reading is Catching Fire, and even then the juvenile writing kind of puts me off!

I find it interesting to see how many books people have mentioned on this list that I have absolutely adored at one point or another. To each their own, I suppose.

Most of the book was really slow and the the characters were dull. I've heard it gets better but I don't have enough interest in it to continue.

Okay, I know there are people out there who mcLOVE this book. I love me some fantasy, I LOVE adventure! This book just had HUGE parts that could totally have been cut out of the book and no one would have noticed. It dragged on so much it was almost painful. The only characters I actually cared about by the end were the hobbits...except Frodo. I'm going to finish the series because I AM NO QUITTER. I'm not gonna lie though, I'm not terribly excited about it.

I hated this book. I'm sorry, but I did. It was so boring! And the problem was that I really wanted to like it, I wanted to say: "Yeah, I read that, it was so good!" But I just couldn't.
The main problem was that they tried to make the romance more interesting and promptly failed. (How are you supposed to make straight, white romance not cliché? Spoiler alert: it doesn't work).
The second problem was that there were multiple writers. You finally got used to one writing style and then it randomly changed! You couldn't get into it at all.
Third, the monsters were terrible. These aliens that were taking over planets, bleh. It's been tried before. It was better than fine (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy). You didn't have to go in and mess up the entire genre!
To conclude: this book was torture.

Have you tried Carry On? It's really really good and blows Fangirl out of the water.

Me neither... I stopped at fifty pages or something. Don't really like Rainbow Rowell's books at all, hence my one-star review of Fangirl sorry not sorry

I was so bored by this??? I might try the next one, but I'm not sure.

"Oh my..."
I hated the repetitive comments she always made and found it utterly ridiculous that a 23(ish?) year old woman would just agree to do become a rich playboy's toy after staying pure for so long. I'm expected to believe she's considering butt stuff and S&M without any experience whatsoever JUST because he's good looking and rich?
I found myself infuriated too much.

Hahaha my thoughts exactly. I listened to the audiobook so the repetitive phrases really stood out, and in my review I put the number of times she said each one by doing a search for them in my kindle book =P

I've never had the urge to pick this book up, and I for sure won't now xD

I agree, disliked " The Catcher in the Rye" Hated Holden and his constant whining, never once did I feel sorry for him. If fact I just wanted to smack him.

I found this with a quick search.
"Ana says "Jeez" 81 times and "oh my" 72 times. She "blushes" or "flushes" 125 times, including 13 that are "scarlet," 6 that are "crimson," and one that is "stars and stripes red." (I can't even imagine.) Ana "peeks up" at Christian 13 times, and there are 9 references to Christian's "hooded eyes," 7 to his "long index finger," and 25 to how "hot" he is (including four recurrences of the epic declarative sentence "He's so freaking hot."). Christian's "mouth presses into a hard line" 10 times. Characters "murmur" 199 times, "mutter" 49 times, and "whisper" 195 times (doesn't anyone just talk?), "clamber" on/in/out of things 21 times, and "smirk" 34 times. Christian and Ana also "gasp" 46 times and experience 18 "breath hitches," suggesting a need for prompt intervention by paramedics. Finally, in a remarkable bit of symmetry, our hero and heroine exchange 124 "grins" and 124 "frowns"

I've never had the urge to pick this book up, and I for sure won't now xD
You saved yourself some time! The movie is much better than the book, which we all know how often that happens. And saying that, the movie isn't that good. :X

If anyone even sort of liked 50 shades, then you will probably really like the first few books in Maya Banks 'sweet' series, but, at some point they got way too much for me. They are sordid for sure.. lol
If you like ridiculously funny books in a similar vein, you might also like Tara Sivec's Chocoholic's series, my favorite was the 2nd about a Brony.. It's particularly ridiculous adult situations.
As far as popular books I didn't like, haven't come across too many.
I didn't finish A Spool of Blue Thread
It's adult fiction and pretty much everyone loved it. But, I was over 100 pages in and still didn't care about any of the characters, so gave it up.

Fallen
I literally wanted to cry when I was reading through the book. I just wasn't making any progress and I hated it! God! Never again
Never again!

I actually really liked the writing but towards halfway through the book I started to get annoyed by it and I absolutely hated the ending.

I wasn't too thrilled with Twilight either. I managed to read it all the way through, but lost count how many times Bella described Edward. I pulled through the second and third one.. the fourth one I gave up. The movies are definitely better.

Also, the Gone series. I stopped reading after the 3..."
Same, for the hush hush anyway, I haven't read gone yet. My fire drill absolutely adores the Hush Hush series, and could not stop bugging me about it. So I read it to see what was the big deal, I didn't like it all that much, I didn't really knew what was going on. Then there was the harassment. Or at least borderlining it. Ughhh
