Mahea The entire Falling Kingdoms series.
I hate almost everything about it. The characters are so annoying and there are so many plot holes and too much plot armor. My review of Crystal Storm explains quite a few of my problems with the series.

That's funny because I also have mixed feelings. I'm on book 5, and I can't stop reading, but I keep (and did so with the other books too) taking breaks to read other books. It's kind of a filler book for me. The characters are so childish and blah. I feel like a lot of stuff could've been solved if they weren't so damn wishy washy. I've come to like Amara purely because at least she knows what she wants and she's way more interesting than Cleo or Jonas.... but I am determined to finish this series. The pretty cover is a plus, right? :)

message 854: by Marta (new)

Marta I hated "love letters to the dead", did not finished it because I was driving myself crazy with the main character.

Those are all books I'm looking forward to so I hate to hear that you didn't like them! Well except for Allegiant... The first two were only okay to me and I already know how the third one ends. I personally don't care about you-know-who dying so maybe I will end up loving it! =D

message 859: by Brittany (new)

Brittany (brittknee628) The Handmaid's Tale

Every person I know that has read this and the majority of reviews I have read gave it 4 or 5 stars and absolutely loved it and the symbolism it shows of our society.

I thought it was boring. I didn't see much character development which I'm big on and the ending left you with so many unanswered questions which is infuriating because you get no resolution.

The Hulu show is much better because they start to develop the story and give answers since they run out of material quickly.

message 860: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey Perry | 7 comments I hated Glass Sword (the Second book in the Red Queen series). Mare annoyed me so much. I think she's dumb and tiresome and she flip flops back and forth. I also hated how she never asked for help and she felt like she needed to suffer by herself.

message 861: by Heather (new)

Heather I don't believe this book is YA so I don't know if this counts but I hated The Name of the Wind (The Kingkiller Chronicle, #1) by Patrick Rothfuss . This book and series was so highly rated and recommend to me. It was the most boring book I have ever read. I slogged through it and had to resort to skimming the rest of the book just to see if it got any better. It did not. After a horrible first book, it turned me off of the series. I won't read any more from that author.

message 862: by Nassy (new)

Nassy (nassy123) the lux series. I managed to read the first book but I couldn't even go halfway the second. the main male character was just too annoying for me.

Michaela (Journey into Books) The Winners Curse. I DNFed this about hundred pages from the end.

message 864: by Zhye (new)

Zhye (zhyegoatt) | 29 comments Letters to the Lost by Brigid Kemmerer I'm really starting to think that I should stay away from 90% of the books rated a 4 and up.

No, David! No! (daviddevoursbooks) | 12 comments Pretty Little Liars (Pretty Little Liars, #1) by Sara Shepard So over-the-top unbelievable; i know there are mean girls in high school etc, but i just couldn't even begin to give this one any more of my time.
The Giver by Lois Lowry I know. How could anyone not like it... well, I hated it. No world building. No explanation of how or why the world is the way it is. Way too many holes in the fabric of the story. And especially for me, the version I read had a new forward from the author, and she was SO sour grapes that Hunger Games was more popular than the Giver that I basically hated the book before I even started it.
Shatter Me (Shatter Me, #1) by Tahereh Mafi I think enough others already explained it here.

faiith Also, Lady Midnight. It wasn't bad, but I didn't like as much as other people did

message 871: by Mia (new)

Mia Long (miaya) | 29 comments The Lying Game it sounded really interesting and pretty little liars was great but a few pages in and they where already saying gross things. And when I saw it was a series with a lot of books I new Sara shepherd was just trying to get money it was like an awful TV show that you just can't look away from!

message 872: by [deleted user] (new)

Throne of Glass series. liked the first 2, was ok with the 3rd and absolutely hated the rest

and also acowar. i found it poorly written and trust me im not saying this bc im salty cos i didnt even ship any ship from the beginning so dont accuse me of being salty over a sunken ship

message 873: by [deleted user] (new)

message 877: by Nina (new)

Nina | 17 comments I'm surprised by how many people hated the House of Night series. I absolutely loved the first one, but after I had gone through Hunted, Untamed, Chosen, and Tempted, I pretty much had the idea.

Farren (mmmcookies) | 302 comments Nina wrote: "I'm surprised by how many people hated the House of Night series. I absolutely loved the first one, but after I had gone through Hunted, Untamed, Chosen, and Tempted, I pretty much had the idea."

I listened to the audiobooks for the first three and they weren't my favorites, but I did really enjoy them. The narration is way too obviously-Canadian-but-trying-to-sound-like-a-90s-valley-girl though, so I will probably like the rest of the series that has a different reader even more.

message 879: by KimyQueen (new)

KimyQueen | 18 comments For me it was Heartless My Marrissa Meyer
Honestly I was so excited to read this book it appeared on every booktube video or instagramm books ( idk how to call it ) i've watched and then When i read it it bored me beyond limits from the first pages it the most painful read i've ever had
Mostly it was because I hate Alice In wonderland ( And as i don't like to read books' baccover to avoid spoilers 'My Mistake xD') i didn't know that untill i've already begun it but that wasn't all everything was predictable and the characters were plain and boring. It was sucha disappointing book that i gave up on reading any of that author's books even though i was planning on reading The Lunar chronicles before

I didn't care for Heartless, it barely earned 3 stars for me, but I recently read Cinder and it was much better than Heartless. I also hear it's the worst book of the Lunar Chronicles so that has to be a good sign, right? Read a free sample from Amazon before you give up.

message 889: by Kyla (new)

Kyla (kyl_aaaaaaa) | 17 comments Shatter Me - I only finished about 15 pages.

The Catcher in the Rye - I ranked it 1 star. I was hoping that my eyeballs would fall out from all the crap in that book.

The Book Thief - 2 stars. Should have been 1.5. Not a good book.

Gathering Blue - After The Giver, I thought this was the worst crap written (I hadn't read TCitR yet).

message 892: by Nami (last edited Aug 08, 2017 12:28AM) (new)

Nami (beforethedawn) I didn't like Shatter Me (Shatter Me, #1) by Tahereh Mafi series. I hoped it would actually get better but it didn't. Finished it only because I was bored and needed something fast paced. I wanted a dystopian, got stupid love triangle instead.
Also I don't really understand the hype around Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1) by Sarah J. Maas series. I mean... Celaena/Aelin is so undecisive and narcissistic it hurts.
It's really refreshing to see I'm not the only one who thinks these books aren't so good. I only see praises for them.

David Nessipbekov (dautnes) | 37 comments Delia ✨ (Bookish Nymph) wrote: "Pretty Little Liars The Darkest Minds"

I have to differ with you on the Pretty Little Liars but Darkest Minds was so mind-numbingly stupid that I won't finish the series despite my compulsive self telling me to. That ending was absolutely atrocious imo.

message 894: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (birdwithabrain) | 35 comments I've always found Eragon (The Inheritance Cycle, #1) by Christopher Paolini to be really poorly edited? Plot-wise I felt like I should enjoy it but I just didn't like how it was written.

I'm not as fond of The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold as most people I know either. It was fine, but nothing special.

(And I'm one of the biggest Harry Potter fans out there, but someone needed to edit out half of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Harry Potter, #5) by J.K. Rowling - great book with far too much waffle masking some of its greatness)

Other examples of this in my opinion: Marked, Shatter Me, The Selection.

message 900: by Anca (new)

Anca I have some MAJOR issues with the Twilight saga.
It's hard to write a book about bad ass vampires that I don't like, but Stephanie Meyer did it.

There is the insta love, bella is just boring and Edward is a wuss, but that is not even what annoys me the most...

Sparkling vampires who are able to have children???
*rolls eyes*
NO... just... NO!
