message 751: by Rin (new)

Rin (nasrinnie) | 56 comments Shiver, Matched series, Selection series, Throne of Glass series, Vampire Academy... I'm a hater hehe

I just want to rant about Throne of Glass, because I know a ton of people adore it ...

The main character annoys me so much. She's so obsessed with herself and wears dresses to fight in (??). I thought the plot itself had potential but the book kind of lost me. And who knew Chaol's name was pronounced like a vegetable? I always said it like cha-ul or something. Dorian makes me hungry for durian. And the love triangle... decagon? gives me a headache. Girl, make up your mind. That is all :P

message 752: by Danielle's Books (new)

Danielle's Books (daniellesbooks) | -46 comments It is not often that I find books that I can't finish or do not like because I am not very picky when it comes to books. All I ask for are likeable characters, an interesting plot, and a balance between action and romance. Some books go above and beyond, others are average. I absooutely couldn't get into Rot and Ruin... The main character got on my nerves so much. I wasn't even able to finish, I just couldn't...

Elayna (fangirlskingdom-forfandomsonly) | 35 comments For me the worst book I've read was Allegiant. I hated the book and really hated the ending.

message 754: by S.L.J. (new)

S.L.J. (sammyslj) | 45 comments The covenant series had a few good moments like when Alex gets torn to pieces by Ares but otherwise it was pretty bad.

Jacky (spotonculture) | 8 comments The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1) by James Dashner Hated this after the first chapters, didn't finish it and never will.

Going to agree with you on this one!

I'm going to have to agree with you both on this one lol. I read it through, but was bored out of my freaking mind till like the last chapter.
Also, I couldn't stand Red Queen (Red Queen, #1) by Victoria Aveyard , sorry to any fans. It was just too much of a copy/paste of Hunger Games with different names. And one reviewer mentioned X-men as well, which I can totally see. I will say the sequel was a slight improvement.

message 758: by Sammy (new)

Sammy Page (sammehpage) | 8 comments The last two books of The Selection series. The Heir & The Crown.
Zeros.

oh and the Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Everyone loves them but I had to force myself to get through the first one and I've had no desire to pick the second one up, which sucks cause I wanted to love it really badly. :(

yes to both of them!

plus: red queen and glass sword. If only, because Glass Sword copied Magneto´s "pull down the hovercraft" move.

message 760: by Hope (new)

Hope (beautyqueenforbes) | 1 comments This is definitely not a popular opinion, but I just really didn't like The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle, #1) by Maggie Stiefvater or The Dream Thieves (The Raven Cycle, #2) by Maggie Stiefvater . I really, really wanted to, but I couldn't get more than halfway through the 2nd one.

To be honest, I just found them boring and kind of overbearing. I like the author's other work, though.

message 761: by Ayano (new)

Ayano | 1 comments I know this is extremely unpopular opinion but I could not get behind the Hunger Games :P the writing was so bad I struggled to get through the book and the only reason I finished it was cause I hate giving up :P sorry!!

message 762: by Brandon (new)

Brandon Book Nerd (kuyabrandon) | 43 comments Divergent. I recently reread a few chapters and I saw why past me did NOT like it at all. The writing style was choppy, Tris was whiny a lot, and the plot twist about Four was predictable (at least to me). But I had the strength to finish the whole series, though. To me, Insurgent was by far the BEST book in the series, and it is rare that sequels pass the first book.

message 763: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nics2) | 44 comments @Brandon I get what you said! Actually while reading I quite enjoyed the series, it had fast pace and there was a lot of things happening. But now when I look back and think about the plot I catch me pondering why I liked the trilogy.

And YES! Thank you ! My fav was also Insurgent ! It is so hard to find people that prefer insurgent out of the trilogy...

message 764: by Meags (new)

Meags (meags97) Paper Towns! I loved the Fault in our Stars and Looking for Alaska so figured that was the next logical John Green book to read but I did not enjoy it whatsoever! I got about 3/4 of the way through and just got mad at it! I finished it because I thought maybe it would end in a way that made the whole book more amazing then in seemed when reading (if that makes any sense), but the ending was quite possibly the worst part! Not a fan of this book at all which makes me sad because I read Looking for Alaska and Fault in our Stars in basically one to two sittings so had high expectations....

message 765: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 143 comments @Meagan totally agree with Paper Towns. Such a disappointment. An Abundance of Katherine's is one of my all time favorites.

message 766: by L.C. (new)

L.C. Perry | 202 comments Hunger games didn't work for me :/

You mean by Jenny Han?

message 769: by Bea (new)

Bea (ninatiz) | 5 comments I will be kicked out of this group and I just joined in yesterday but I haven´t been able to finish or even liking the famous A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1) by George R.R. Martin . SO many people, so many stories I can´t keep track of...

I had so much faith in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children, #1) by Ransom Riggs , it was fun until half the book then it all went down and became predictable and boring. I will see the movie though.

message 770: by Funky Fish (new)

Funky Fish (goodreadscompetitcroissant) @Nicole
I agree with you all the way. I also enjoyed the Divergent series while I was reading the books, but looking back, I am wondering why. Now I don't particularly like the writing style and the plot just seemed to drag on a bit. After the first book, I kind of got bored with the story and I didn't like the ending of Allegiant. Plus, I like books that are deep and meaningful and I felt that the Divergent series was just kind of...there. It wasn't that memorable and it didn't have much of a moral. Sorry, all you Divergent fans :(

message 771: by Marianna (new)

Marianna Glez. I have to say Fallen is really a terrible book , but the "After" series are just the worst books ever written.

message 772: by Gabriela (new)

Gabriela The fault in our stars. Even though I agree that it was a sad story and has a few thought-out character, I think it was overrated and became predictable. I think the movie adaptation was truthful to the book, considering how much studios change movies from the original books.

message 773: by Joelle (new)

Joelle Jabbour | 11 comments @Gabriela I completely agree! Most of the people who have read it think it's the best one out there but honestly I had much higher expectations and was gravely disappointed.

message 774: by Inny (new)

Inny (firewinner) I don't really read "mainstream" books before or after they were popular so I don't have much experience in this. But a book that I found over rated (please don't hate me!) was the Harry Potter series. Okay right now a bunch of people are mad at me but I found it to drag a lot (especially the first three). When I was 12 or something I tried to read the first book but couldn't do it. Now that I'm 14 I managed to read the first four books (I'm currently reading the fifth) but I still find them somewhat boring and slow. Though I did really like Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban. I wouldn't say it's the worst book ever just a disappointing popular book.

message 775: by Sharadha (new)

Sharadha Jayaraman (jayaras) | 41 comments I usually don't pick up books that are a rage (staying away from The Hunger Games and Divergent series) but I did bother to read this nightmare of a series shortly after discovering that its movies were in the making. Absolutely regret it to this day.

Actually, I didn't even get to the third book and DNFed the second at around 40%, that's my SOLE redemption.

message 776: by Maysam (last edited Apr 22, 2017 08:54PM) (new)

Maysam (maysamsiddig) Thirteen Reasons Why. I was very disappointed honestly. It sounded really good, but most of the reasons where just so stupid. Everyone says the tv show is better but I still haven't watched it. Hopefully I will soon though.

message 777: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (readwrebecca) Red Queen. I hate that series I can't believe I actually kept telling myself "maybe it'll get better." I read the first one, read/skim read/skipped some parts of the second, and couldn't even finish the third.

message 778: by Kyla (new)

Kyla (kyl_aaaaaaa) | 17 comments The Book Thief by Markus Zusak :( I didn't love it, like it wasn't "life-changing", but it wasn't the worst book I've read.

message 779: by Heather (new)

Heather Cummings (cummings895) | 37 comments The Matched Series. Well to be fair to the 3rd book, I never made it that far. The first one was eh, OK, but the 2ND one I got within 40 pages of finishing it and to stop, I just couldn't torture myself any longer with something I wasn't enjoying.

I also tend to have an issue with classics. if I actually make it to the end I usually just end up disappointed.

message 780: by Anne (new)

Anne C. | 3 comments Paper towns. kinda boring.

message 781: by Maysam (new)

Maysam (maysamsiddig) The Hunger Games. That book was the WORST!!!

message 782: by Terri (new)

Terri | 27 comments Siren
I felt this book was very repetitive and I kept hoping it would get better, but never did.

message 783: by Eve (new)

Eve Goldhallow | 3 comments For me,the worst book series I have ever read is the Beautiful Creatures series. It's weird because I realized I hated it when I finished reading all of them.

Blasphemy!!!

hahahaha joking, it's one of my fav series but I get it is not to everyone's liking ;)

For me it was Shiver... I know I tried to read it and maybe even finished it, but for the life of me I can't even remember what it was about and had zero interest in continuing the series.

I didn't like Hush, Hush Series or Fallen, but read at least I could finish them all

message 788: by hedda (new)

hedda (heddiling) | 17 comments Twilight for sure. I actually fell asleep reading it. I also wasn't a huge fan of the last two books in the Divergent trilogy.

message 789: by S.L.J. (new)

S.L.J. (sammyslj) | 45 comments Throne of glass series. It started out okay but now it's just terrible.

ℓуηη_σƒ_νєℓαяιѕ | 85 comments Twilight & Red Queen, omg. I'm like a literary masochist and read all the books so far. Not reading any more of them, ugh >_<

message 791: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Hernández twilight, red queen, and the selection

message 792: by [deleted user] (new)

The Young Elites books. I got into a reading slump thanks to the first book and DNFed the second book.

message 793: by Seema M. (new)

Seema M. Fazil (brotherlyloveisbeautiful) | 290 comments for me it was The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins . sorry to those who loved it

message 794: by k (new)

k (thisistheway31) I'll give you the sun.

I swear, I did not like the plot and the characters.

message 795: by [deleted user] (new)

Hush, Hush. Sorrynotsorry.

message 796: by Steffi (new)

Steffi (steffiw) | 53 comments Have to agree with @Seema, the Hunger Games was a real struggle for me. Just couldn't warm to the characters.

message 797: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine I really disliked the Selection Series. I just thought it was poorly done.

I'm also not a fan of The Red Queen series. Mare Barrow is the worst kind of hypocrite. Also, the second book I felt like was missing so many details in all the "battles" that I couldn't even follow half of what she was trying to convey. It just seemed poorly written.

message 798: by Anne-Sophie (new)

Anne-Sophie the lovely bones

message 799: by Oda (new)

Oda (oda91) Twilight. Especially Breaking Dawn. Sorry guys

message 800: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Angell (heidiangell) | 82 comments I struggled through The Girl on The Train. So much about the book made me angry. I ranted about it on Facebook, and in my book review. So frustrating!

I am also kind of struggling through Riders by Veronica Rossi. My son absolutely loved it and he wants me to read it so much, but the narrative style is kind of killing me... I don't have the heart to tell him I don't like it.
