It seems like it could be good, I just couldn't get into it for the life of me. It was more like a chore to read :(

I think that the overall plot of the book is okay and it could be really good but the writing was like that of a high school student. And the characters didn't really have any depth and were never consistent in their responses.
I just didn't really like it.

Also I just recently tried to read We Were Liars and I only read about 100 pages before deciding not to finish it. Though I did spoil myself by reading the last page since all I was seeing everywhere was, "OMG THE PLOT TWIST!!!!!!" I wasn't that impressed with the plot twist...or the writing...or the characters...though that cover is gorgeous.

However, there a few high ratings books that I just couldn't finish / couldn't stand / or wanted to bang my head on a wall. Such as: Leviathan, Evermore, Slated, The Morganville Vampires, The Orphan Queen, Partials, Snow Like Ashes, Birthmarked, Graceling, and anything by James Patterson (don't understand his appeal).
I don't usually like insta-love or love triangles unless it is handled well -- which is usually not the case. I also have to like the main character(s) and supporting character(s). I can't stand whiny or too self-obsessed. Girls or guys who treat their love interests like disposable play-things are also a big turn off to me.

It took me 6 weeks I think to finish Shatter Me! I liked the plot but the writing annoyed me so I never wanted to pick it back up.

Also, I could not finish Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. It was so incredibly boring and the plot wasn't that intruiging for me either. Such a shame though, because those pictures are hauntingly beautiful to look at.

Agree with you on both books. :)

I'm about to read Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and now I'm worried that I'll be on the same page as you are! I heard it was kind of similar to Asylum by Madeleine Roux (it was inspired by Miss Peregrine's) and it wasn't really that good either so at least I won't have high expectations on this book :D

The first book is great, and the next two are like pulling teeth."
Also: We Were Liars was horrible, if that was the ending what was the whole point of the book? Literally nothing.
Carry On, I also disliked. It just felt like bad Harry Potter fan fiction au.
And no one needs to read Prince of Wolves, I already read it for you and it's HORRIBLE.

Eleanor & Park. I just don't geg the hype. I didn't find Eleanor very likable.. and Psrk wad just boting to me. I'm alwayd afraid someone will bite my hesd of for saying that.

Ahh, I'm not the only one! I loved the first book, but haven't been able to get very far into the 2nd when I've tried >_<

Why is that so true? They were boring and had no sense of meaning. What. So. Ever

Maybe the part of no meaning was a bit too far, yet I felt as if John Green wanted to prove to the world that he understood something, yet did not find a specific way of explaining that sense of need, and decided to rant freely, while the audience is stuck thinking: Is it only me, or am I understanding what he's saying, but did not understand it completely?
I honestly can't be the only one

Matched: I gave up on that series, midway through the first book. Tried reading the second, started crying tears of frustration after the first 10 pages
The Red Queen: That book is not a favourite of mine, yet I respected it all the same. Nevertheless, it was an awful lot like the selection, and I wasn't that excited about reading something an awful lot like a series I completed a week ago.
The Throne of Glass: This is going to be A LONG RANT.
1) There's so many awful things that I decided to number them
2) The main character has so many names that it's difficult to keep track, because every five chapters the author introduces a new character, so that was very confusing and annoying.
3) The names themselves are HILARIOUS! Celaena being an assassin who slays people. Chaol, having people mispronounce his name so many times, it made me cry. Who knew it was pronounced like the leafy vegetable: Kale? Dorian, who... I'm not going to bother on this guy, it's all in his name. Nehemia, sounds like a horse trying to sneeze, and I'm going to stop there.
4) The assassin is weirdly obsessed with making weapons out of innocent things. Hair pins, a bar of soap. What next, a blanket to choke people to death!?
5) She fights in dresses, it's weird. She gets them dirty 98% of the time, yet she keeps on wearing them, even though she complains how it doesn't allow her to move. Please. Just. Change! Think about the slaves and servants who have to wash them and cover up your tracks, when they DONT WANT TO!
6) She keeps on saying that she values friendship, yet chucks them out the window at the first opportunity she gets!
7) She has TOO MUCH SELF CONFIDENCE, I never thought I'd say this, but, she thinks too much of herself and her skills which causes her to fail half the time! She's annoying and whines too much, she's like the main character in The Heir by Kiera Cass.
8) The book has no plot, it drags on too much, and just when things are about to get interesting, it gets boring.
9) You can tell who the bad guy is right from the beginning, the author hints at it during one of the most exciting parts (which is not that frequent-believe me!) and you are just bound to pay attention and store it in your mind
10) Some like a love line, or a triangle, maybe even a square, but a DECAGON is going over the line by a bit, don't you think? (asks innocently) What line!?, you just went over the line and jumped off the cliff!
11) The author is OBSESSED, AND I SAY IT AGAIN OOOBBBBSSSEEESSSSEEEDDD!!!!!!!!! WITH CAPITALS AND EXCLAMATION MARKS!!!!!! Like I respect them, but you do not use them in every page, please, it tires my eyes to a point where I decided to try putting that much enthusiasm and failed miserably.
12) There are more points, yet they may be small, insignificant maybe or huge and something not to be overlooked, however that is up to you to figure out.
Goodbye, and remember, not all who wander are lost.

I must disagree with the Divergent comment, for the series changed my life. We were Liars however, that was a miserable book!

Your comment just narrated my experience when reading The 5th Wave!
High Five To You

As for Divergent and Miss Peregrine, I'm honestly mind-boggled to see those constantly showing up in this thread. I must not have read the same trilogies... :)

Rarely do people name 50 shades of grey but I agree with you too. Though I did finish the book, I didn't quite enjoyed reading it.
