Lee couldn't quite figure out what it was exactly that made him so sure about this girl. He'd first heard about her on the news in a coffee shop a week ago, something about her being missing. Missing: Lisette Collins. Gender: Female. Age: 17. Race: Caucasian. Hair Color: Blond... he didn't remember the rest. There'd been a photo, and something -- gut instinct, maybe -- had told him that she was like him. And he knew he had to find her. If he was wrong and she was just a normal girl, well, no harm done in looking. So he'd tracked her down. It had taken him the whole of the week to pinpoint her exact location, and now here new as, in the middle of a forest, quite a while away from the city, standing right outside her hideout.

Not for the first time, he hesitated. What if this was a trap? Maybe the girl was in league with the scientists who wanted to capture him. Maybe they'd cooked up this story just to lure him out. Maybe...He pushed those thoughts to the back of his head. He was being paranoid. He had to trust his instinct. It had gotten him this far, after all.

What now, though? He couldn't see her anywhere at the moment; maybe she'd gone out for a while. Or maybe she'd left entirely. Frowning, he walked a few steps further, glancing around him. More out of habit than anything else, he kept close to the shadows, moving as soundlessly as possible. It seemed unlikely those who were constantly hunting him would be out here in the middle of nowhere, but Lee hardly, if ever, let down his guard. An instant of carelessness could cost him his life.

[ Finally got a chance to right this. Sorry for taking so long, though o.o ]

"Mary?" Her voice echoed into the otherwise empty forest, a flaky sound that threatened to be drowned by the rustling of the leaves on the trees that towered up above her. Ruby had long since resigned to calling out to the girl that occupied her with companionship. The girl dressed in a white nightgown. The girl that nobody could see.

She still believed she was crazed, plauged with some sort of awful mental illness. Which was why she was running. If there was one thing she couldn't cope with, it was being locked up, which is what would happen if she allowed herself to be caught. She'd be thrown into a mental institution locked up for her insanity and she'd never be able to see the light of day again. Ruby couldn't allow herself to be placed into a life like that. She'd rather die than do so. Than to not see the outside world once more. Being imprisoned wasn't an option. So of course there was only one logical answer; run.

"He's coming." Mary's faint voice whispered with the breeze as she came into view, an almost transparent figure at first that slowly became opaque within moments. "Who?" instantly dread was stirring at the pit of her stomach. "Him..." And with that Mary was already drifting out of reach again, and despite desperate attempts to pull her back she was no longer within reach. Now panicked Ruby instantly looked to the trees. Maybe if she hid up there long enough the danger would pass and she'd be safe once again. It was the only option she had.

And so, with a few minor cusses Ruby began shimmying up the closest tree to her, earning a few scrapes here and there but otherwise being successful in her quick scramble up into the treetops. Just in time too, since as soon as she was settled he came into view.

He looked like a school golden boy. Blonde hair, no doubt he had blue eyes. Tall and lean, and, she imagined, if he had the resources he'd be well shaven. However, that didn't seem to be the case and from her perch she could make out a thin layer of stubble across his jawline. Something jerked inside of her, what it was, however, was beyond all sense of reasoning. What now? She couldn't sit up here for very long, the branch she was stretched out on wasn't going to hold her weight for any longer. So of course, again, Ruby went for the obvious; jump.

Scooting around so her legs were dangling, Ruby sent a prayer to the heavens above to ensure she didn't do something stupid and break a leg, and then gingerly slipped off and was free-falling through the air.

Her aim was perfect--if falling on to somebody could be classed as that. And she laned right on top of him. She came to her sense almost instantly, pinning the boy to the ground, eyes simmering with anger--and an inkling of fear. "Who are you?" She snapped firmly, voice sharp. "What do you want? What are you doing here?" her words came in quick, punching unison, one after the other as she straddled him, holding both of his wrists on each side of his head so she had the upperhand. Of course, he probably outweighed her by about 70lbs, but that was beside the point. She had the upperhand. She did. That's what she kept drilling into her head anyway.

[ Not half as beautiful as yours, my dear C: And I think I like Ruby a lot already. ]

One moment he had been standing there, debating whether or not he should actually search the girl's hideout, and the next he was on the ground. He'd heard the sound before whoever it was had slammed into him -- or fell on him, more like -- and he'd started to turn, looking upwards towards the sound. Before he could locate the source of the sound, however, he found himself flat on his back on the earthy forest floor with someone sitting on him. He swore and jerked his hands free, his first, animal instinct to flip his attacker over and fight back, but then he got a good look at just who it was.

A girl.

Just a girl, on the petite side, not someone he might feel particularly threatened by. Slender, blonde. Pretty. But not just any girl; it was her, the girl he was looking for, Lisette Collins. And she looked angry, furious, even, as she snapped out her questions in a hard, clipped way, making them sound like accusations. But he could see the hint of fear behind the anger, the uncertainty. And the attack, if it could even be called that, was so unexpected yet so perfect, because he'd found her, or she'd found him, whichever, that he laughed out loud. This was such an comic position to be in. Maybe it was the relief that he'd found the girl, maybe just the stress of the past few weeks catching up to him, messing with his head, but the whole situation felt suddenly hilarious.

"Leander James Makenna, at your service," he said, his words comically formal but his tone light. "I would shake your hand, but you're sitting on me." He grinned, hoping to take the edge off the words. He could probably defend himself if it came to that, but there was no point in pissing her off. Who knew, she could be crazy. Crazy girls were not to be underestimated.

"As for what I want and what I'm doing here, I was looking for someone. Aren't you Lisette Collins? I recognize you from the pictures." She looked a bit...wilder than the girl from the photographs they'd shown on the news, but that wasn't surprising, considering she seemed to be living out here in the middle of the freaking forest. Not that he thought it was a bad decision. If she really was like him, then he knew only too well what must be driving her.

With her teeth grinding and her body tensed and ready for any oncoming attacks if he decided to use his strength- since no matter how much she told herself he still had more of an upper-hand than she did, Ruby's eyes remained focused, rage filled and slightly tinged with insanity as she bore down on him with all her might. It wasn't as if she had actually been struck by a mental illness. But if you told yourself something enough times you began believing it. She'd reached that point a long time ago. Longer than she'd care to think about.

He was just a guy. Granted a good looking guy. But otherwise, just a guy. Around her age, tall--from what she could gather, blonde hair, blue eyes. A golden boy-as her friends would have referred to him as. But essentially he was just a guy. And in some sense that raised her suspicions even more so. So they thought they'd send somebody in that didn't seem like such a threat to talk her down, bring her out of hiding and then they'd nab her. That was their angle huh? Well she wasn't about to buy it. They weren't about to outsmart Lisette Ruby Collins, that was for sure. She wouldn't let that happen.

"Who sent you?" She growled out again, not allowing that almost good-natured grin get to her. This was all an act. A stupid little act to get her to be putty in his hands. She wasn't about to buy it either. Slowly, shakily she withdrew a pocketknife from her back pocket and held it uneasily as he spoke his next question. "I asked who sent you." she said a bit more forcefully(if that was even possible), this time her hand clinging to the small handle of the piece of small weaponry. It was clear by the way she was holding it, the way her hand was trembling that she had no experience whatsoever when it came to the blade, and by the look on her face she blatantly didn't want to use it. Not in the slightest.

"Now tell me otherwise I'll hurt you." her voice was rough, cold, however Ruby couldn't stop her voice breaking at the end of her sentence. Immediately disgust at herself warred on her face. How could she allow herself to be so pitiless in a time like this? Ruby chided herself bitterly, shaking her head one more as her hard blue gaze turned back to him.
