Am I the only one who doesn't want a movie made?

I really don't want them to make a movie about this book! The movie producers will just ruin it. I hate it when the people they pick for the movie don't match up to the image I have in my head! And if I have to see these picked actors, it will be just plain difficult for my mind to not replace the image already in place. I know it seems silly, but it has happened many times before. Not only that, but movie producers rarely hit it right on the mark following the book. We should just leave it alone and keep our minds happy. And hopefully, they are making a movie of just the first book and not of the two following books. They just weren't that great, especially "fifty shades freed".

No for the movie. The books are always better and make a movie with a material so polemic could ruin the movie.

This is coming from one of the many embittered haters that you guys understandably cannot stand, but my thoughts are ... the movie has got to be better than the book was. Not that I ever plan on seeing it.

I really did love this series, but was not excited AT ALL to hear they were making into a movie. Nothing they put on screen comes close to the images you have in your mind and they always find ways to make changes that are not for the better.

that being said, I will still totally go see the movie. :>

As soon as I finished Book 1, I told friends that I hoped there would not be a movie; but, I seemed to be the only person who felt this way. I don't agree with the casting choices and I feel like the movie is just being thrown together. I think it will do an injustice to the series. I hope I'm wrong.

This movie has already been done. It's called "9 1/2 weeks"!

They have a better Christian now, though Ana is still incorrectly casted IMO. I want this movie made; it will be the first X rated movie that features Hollywood graded actors. I may not see the movie, but I will definitely buy the DVD if a NC-17 cut is included.

I agree. I think the productions are over doing it, putting erotic novels on big screen/ TV series, it's a good idea bringing the characters to life but it's better in imagination to create that version individually we had instead of hate and dislike that causes people who are fans to FSOG a big problem. However, I liked the book and I hope they get the right scenes and plot for this movie, all the best to them + I'm not even 18, the age ratings is going to be a trouble since it's targeted to older audience in Cinema.

im totally agree . i dont think that people will love it . obviously , this book is 70% sex scenes and 30% stupid storyline . nothing special about this trilogy . i read this trilogy and i hate to break it , i dont even find it that way amazing . plus, with the casts of the movie , gosh why so bad . they just pick random people to this movie and out of nowhere . i couldnt agree this movie is going to be flop . sorry 50 shades fans but im not into this book

Hated the book and movies r usually way more worse than the books....m never gonna watch it!

Don't want a movie either. This book while entertaining is not movie worthy.

I agree. They should never make a movie. No matter what book they turn to movie they never get it right. Books are always better than the movie, But still looking forward to ripping the movie apart

Totally Agree! I have a love/hate relationship with this book series. Erotica novels are like our trashy, little secrets and I honestly don't expect great works of literature when I begin reading them, just simple pleasure. This is a book series that struck some luck and became insanely popular but I just don't like the thought of erotica being put on the big screen. The characters were endearing sometimes and then just plain awful others. Although the plot is decent and the angst nearly tangible, the characters were hard to REALLY like and I know for this movie to be a big hit they will have to do extensive re-writing of Ana's and Christian's personalities.

The only way that a movie could even approach the sexuality of the book is if it was rated NC17, and that would hurt ticket sales. Personally, I think a lot of people who will go see it just because of the sexuality but will be disappointed.

I agree with Leann, combined 9 1/2 weeks and Wild Orchid and you have the movie, maybe Mickey Rourke is the common factor. I heard that Charlie was offered a very small amount of money for this movie and I think with 70 millions copies sold and how much crap that has the "50 Shades" name on it, how much money is it creating? The movie will be a disappointment and not because of the no name actors that are in(no offensive Jaime or Dakota) but it's not going to come close to what anyone ever pictured with the book, not unless there is a NC-17 rating and that's the reason 14 year olds aren't allowed in movies with that rating.
I've been in a BDSM relationship long before 50 Shades came along and I love my lifestyle, that won't change. The real is much better, to be honest this is actually slightly "Vanilla". Yeah I know you all hate me now, sorry.

I don't want the movie to happen either. It won't do the book justice, and in my head Christian looks a certain way and the actor they picked for him isn't big enough for me. I also don't know how the can do all the sex scenes without it being rated X.

I really don't think the movie is going to be up to the book, and of course, I think that many scenes are either going to be deleted or change, which change the essence of the book.

Some (very few) books have good or great movies, but I don't think this particular case is a good idea. Also, I agree that the actors the chose for the movie don't have a resemblance with the book characters, we'll have to wait and see, but I'm definitely not eager to watch the movie and I don't expect a lot from it.

I can't believe that the movie will be any where as close to being as good as the book.

Totally agree.

I hate the idea of the movie now that none of the people who were casted seem to fit the look.

But the actual characters themselves have already been in a movie. FIVE movies in fact. Those would be those FIVE Twilight movies. Edward and Bella ARE Christian and Ana so we've seen these characters already.

They can never get close enough to do the sex scenes accurately without an X rating. An NC-17 rating isn't enough to pull off the sex scenes right.

How can they come up with the Christian I have in my head ... this dude is so HOT!!!!

They should make a movie out of another book where people are less invested in the character.

I agree. I didn't like the book and will wait for the movie to make I to cable tv. The writing was so poor in this novel. The author used "like" too many times to count.

It can only be better than the book I would imagine.

No, you are not the only one who does not want a movie to be made.

u r not the only one, i wish they'd just let it be, a movie wont be even close to the little details, aspects and amazing characteristics of each character...

I know it won't do justice to the book. But they finally announced! The trailer is coming out in 24 of this month.

I agree completely!!!! It will destroy the whole thing.

I don't see how any movie could do the book(s) justice. Rarely, can a movie surpass it's book. It's just not possible to get the detailing in a movie and it's the detailing that makes this book series.........just my humble opinion.

i couldn't agree more i don't want a movie either.
i admit i will go see it.
i think this is something that should stay in a book nobody can agree or be happy with any of the casting and i just dont think it work. and i agree i didn't like freed at all, a major let down to a good series pre that.

I'm happier with my imagination than I'd ever be with a movie. I haven't liked any of the casting choices so far.

Fact: A movie can seldom ever really grab the essence of what the writer originally created. Usually because the film people toss the writer's opinion out the window and get their own guy to rewrite the screenplay. The biz of movie making!

The book is usually better than the movie. There have only been a few rare instances where the movie turns out better. People seem to be fangirling over the underwear model that they chose to replace Charlie Hunnam. Not many mentions of whether he's actually a good actor or not. That doesn't do much to build my confidence in FSOG as a movie.

What I don't understand is how can they make a movie on it when 60% of the book is bad sex scenes.

i really don't want fifty shades turn into a movie BECAUSE the story is not even good to turn into a movie, just is this two having sexy during all the book and seriouly don't add to nothing to sociate and i am pretty sure that will not be successful. To add I read the three books and I know what i am talking about.

I agree that the books 99% of the time better than the movies, but I'll still watch this one!
IMO, Beautiful Creatures movie was even better than the book...so it does happen sometimes.

I agree too - the book is almost always better than the movie. And they're trying to stick to some ridiculous time line in order to get the movie released by next August. It's almost like they're sacrifing content and casting to meet that deadline. And to me, those characters do not resemble Christian or Anna in the least.

He's more than an underwear model. He's an Irish actor. He's been on a few TV shows. He was really good as the Huntsman on Once Upon A Time and as Paul in The Fall. As long as he can pull off an American accent, I think He'll do great!

Completely agree. I don't understand the hype. I don't think there is enough plot and what plot exists is poor at best. Once they take out enough sex to make it acceptable for mainstream movie theaters, this movie will have nothing.

Oh my god! I feel you 100 percent. thats all I've been thinking about! I have images of not just them, but of the places some scenes take place in like Christians house etc.. it will be hard not to replace them.

yes i want the movie but with different star cast. May be Megan fox and I :P

I loved these BOOKS so much I read them 4 times; I have never felt making [it] into a movie would be a good idea. From what I've seen and/or heard, nobody seems to get even the basic attributes of the characters, I shudder to think what they'll do to the story! I COMPLETELY agree with Estefani(Oct 30).

I agree...I would rather Anthony Rawlings and Claire Nichols story be turned into a movie.
That series was EPIC, my number 1 for 2013 :)
If you haven't read it then please do!!

I completely agree with you! The reason this book works is because it enables you as a reader to create in your mind, the perfect man. You have full control on all visual aspects - with a little help from the author of course.
Making a movie will never be completely successful because by putting a face to a character you are ruining the readers imagination......and that is what a good book is all about!

LOL. Maybe you're right. It's said: Book is always better than film. I'm little bit scared lol

I don't think a movie will do it justice. I know I will be disappointed on so many levels. For one, we all have an image of who Christian is. For me, it was someone that looked like David Beckham. I think they got Ana pretty well casted. Secondly, all those delicious sex scenes..we wont see that on the big screen.

Should not be made into a movie. Should never have been made into a book. I love Twilight. I love erotica romance novels. I love fanfiction. It does not mean that they should have ever been combined and published.

I am 14th years old I read a small taste of the book when my mom is gone to the store in a far distance. I will love to see the movie but I am not old enough to go to the movie theaters and watch it.

I don't want this movie to happen either. People are already getting upset because of who they've picked for Christian and Anastasia. I really don't think the movie will be able to capture certain things about the book that we all like. Plus this book has too many sex scenes for it to be a good movie to watch in my opinion.
