I have only just discovered searching by Genre Greta, it's so much easier than trolling through hundreds of pages lol

So even though I can't find it on the Stand Alone shelf, it must be on there because 3 people have shelved it that way? I just want to make sure I've got this right. Thanks!

Hey all, we've got someone looking for some people to play with. Barbara wrote: "Hi! I'm a new member of the community and I simply love the idea of playing a book monopoly. If someone is interested, I'd love to play, too. I can read about 2-3 books weekly."
I'll play with Barbara, :) I've been gone for a while, but now that I'm back I hope I can still play.
Becca-Rawr wrote: "I'll play with Barbara, :) I've been gone for a while, but now that I'm back I hope I can still play."Awesome. I will set up a thread for you and Barbara as soon as I get to a computer.
Hey Maria Jo, Steph is looking for a playing partner in the sign up thread. Let me know if y'all need me to set up a thread!
For Just Visiting, does it have to be a novella or can I just read a novel? If it is novella only, what is the upper limit for pages? Thanks!
Greta wrote: "For Just Visiting, does it have to be a novella or can I just read a novel? If it is novella only, what is the upper limit for pages? Thanks!"You can read whatever you'd like. I picked a novella since you're "just visiting" but as long as the book is at least 50 pages, you can read as big of a book as you want.
Great question!
I'm not entirely sure which thread to add this to, here or Sign Ups, but I'm looking for a partner to play this with. This will be my first time with the game, but it sounded like fun! However, I won't be able to start it until September 20th or so, as I am currently in two team challenges and would like to wait until one finishes up before starting a Monopoly game. I do quite a bit of reading, usually between 5-7 books a week.
Trea wrote: "I'm not entirely sure which thread to add this to, here or Sign Ups, but I'm looking for a partner to play this with. I can start whenever you can if you want to play with me :)
Gea wrote: "Trea wrote: "I'm not entirely sure which thread to add this to, here or Sign Ups, but I'm looking for a partner to play this with. We're already in the Scrabble challenge together over in the RLftCI group, and that's the challenge I'm waiting to have end before I start a Monopoly round! I figured it would end around the 20th, so will that be ok for a start date?
Paris wrote: "Would you like me to set you up a thread now or wait until your ready?"I'd say go ahead and set up the thread now, just so we don't forget about it. I can message Gea if things free up a bit and we want to start earlier.
Paris wrote: "Fantastic. I'll get it set up in a minute. Thanks Trea!"Not a problem! Thank you for setting it up for us!
If you're reading a book that you'd strongly like to DNF if you get past the 150pg mark can you count it lol?
hahaha...My first instinct is to ask which game is this book in? Cause if it's against me then the answer is definitely no.Sadly, the answer is no either way, but that's a great question. Sorry.
I figured but hey if I can stop the bleeding worth checking lol. My book sucks, my book sucks, my book sucks....
Jenne wrote: "I forgot about that one! Yes that's be awesome thanks :) you have my email addy right?"Yeah the one I used for the google docs? I'll do that now.
I like the idea of a game specially monopoly but I've become a very slow reader in the past 2 years that it's depressing :(Anyone willing ;)
Hey, Paris, can a person be in more than one Monopoly game at a time? I'm already partnered with Gea for a game, but I'd be willing to partner with Rose if no one else matches up with her. I'm a faster reader, but with me being in the SS game and in a game with Gea, along with all the other challenges I do, it may slow me down enough to be able to partner her. I figured I'd offer, just in case.
Trea, that's a great question. You can play as many games as you'd like. Let me know if you want me to set up a game for you and Rose.
Paris wrote: "Trea, that's a great question. You can play as many games as you'd like. Let me know if you want me to set up a game for you and Rose."As it just turned Midnight EDT here, let's see if Rose is cool with me partnering her before we set up the thread, since I am not exactly what she asked for in a partner, being a faster reader and all. If she says its cool, then I'd be grateful to you for setting up the thread!
Great. I'll check in after work tomorrow and set up a thread then if you ladies decide you'd like one!
Paris wrote: "Great. I'll check in after work tomorrow and set up a thread then if you ladies decide you'd like one!"Thanks, Paris!
I'd also be willing to partner with her. Never have done this before though. I am a slower reader - around 10 books a month when I am doing well.
Penni wrote: "I'd also be willing to partner with her. Never have done this before though. The game is fun, and fairly easy. The round I'm in with Gea currently is my first time at it too. It is extremely easy to catch on to, and also extremely addicting! I think you'll have a good time with it!
Thanks Trea for your offer :)WOW a book a day is amazing.. I really wish I could do 1 book a week :( I used to be faster when I was staying at home but since I started a full time job and a new baby on my hands reading has been almost non existent. That is why I'm going back to participating in challenges to push myself to read more.
I would love to partner with you but when I say slow I mean SLOOOOOOOW as in really slow :)
I would be pulling you down.
And thanks Penni for your offer :)
I realized you said you are slow.. but to me 10 books a month is very fast.. as I said I would be happy to read a book a week!!
I really don't mind partnering with any of you but I feel it's not fair for any of you since I read at a crawling pace :'(
Desert Rose wrote: "Thanks Trea for your offer :)WOW a book a day is amazing.. I really wish I could do 1 book a week :( I used to be faster when I was staying at home but since I started a full time job and a new ba..."
Sounds like you have a lot on your plate, but I have faith that it will all even out in the end!
I'd recommend checking out some of the buddy reads in your groups, as I know I've seen you in The Lost Challenges group as well. Often times those stretch over a longer period of time and have some great discussions that might motivate you to read more. Penni, Ezinwanyi, and I are doing a buddy read of the entire Scanguards Vampires series, that we'd love to have you join! We've finished the first book already, and will start the second next month, so you have plenty of time to catch up to us. Not to mention, these books are on the shorter side, which might help you finish them.
If you change your mind and/or things even out more to where you can read more, feel free to give me a shout, my offer to partner you still stands. Welcome to the group! I think you'll really like it here!

Same goes for me - I would still love to partner with you if you change your mind.
I like the recommends challenges also as well as the buddy read challenges. Thsoe are a lot of fun also.
Well ladies, just let me know if a new thread should be set up. I know that I read really fast Rose, but then I'm still not that fast with the Monopoly game because sometimes the books I need to read for Monopoly doesn't fit with what I'm trying to do for other challenges and what not.
Paris wrote: "Well ladies, just let me know if a new thread should be set up. As long as every book I read didn't have to apply to the game, if that might make it workable.
I've been wanting to play this for awhile, Lauren and I were talking about it when her and Jenne's game was over but I believe their game is still in the works so I'd be able to start one with Desert Rose and a second one with Lauren when her's is done. My reading is sporadic and I read anywhere from 1-3 books a week. I have been listening to audio books lately which boosts up my monthly average. Last month because of audio books I read 10 but this year I've only read 60 which is right around 6 a month. Not that different from Rose's reading to tell the truth. If I understand the rules, we don't have to wait on our opponent to roll. So a fast reader would be able to collect deeds faster than a slow reader, right? It is possible for one person to roll, read the required number of books, roll again, read those books and roll yet a third time all while their opponent is still on their first roll. Do I have that right?
So a fast reader wouldn't necessarily be held back by a slow reader but they would scoop up twice as many deeds.
That's exactly correct Christina. The only risk a slow reader takes when playing with a fast reader is not getting properties as quick or getting as many.In my game with Jenne, she ends up rolling far more often than I do and thats mostly cause I can't seem to make all the books I read work with my roll. For instance, I just had to read 2 books from a shelf and I read one of them, but then had to read another book not on the shelf for another challenge and then another book for another challenge. I'm just now finally getting to the second book I needed for the property I'm on.
