I am trying to read my scriptures every day. No such luck. What do you guys do to fit Scripture study into your schedules?

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

I read before bed, no luck to.

message 3: by [deleted user] (last edited Jun 09, 2009 08:15AM) (new)

Yeah. I try to read every day before bed, (i started over for the summer) and I am on Nephi 3. I kinda stink at goals like this. But i did start like 5 days ago...

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

wow. 1 Nephi for me.

message 5: by Callie (new)

Callie (allicay) | 28 comments It's way hard for me. I always get to 2 Nephi and then stop. I am on page 22 right now, because in our ward we're having a challenge that you read the book of mormon this summer. You only have to read 7 pages a day, but I have to make a lot up because I keep forgetting. I bring mine in the car, and then whenever you go somewhere, you just open them up and read until you get there. You would be amazed.

message 6: by ~♥Alyssa♥~ (new)

~♥Alyssa♥~ (lyssie123) | 234 comments I just keep my scriptures next to my bed. Then I read a few verses to a chapter each night before I go to sleep. Maybe make yourself a reminder and put it somewhere so you won't forget, like a sign or a picture.

message 7: by Natalie (new)

Natalie | 57 comments I've been trying to read about a chapter a day. So I can finish it soon and start over. You know that saying an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Well I made a mormon one up. A chapter a day keeps Satin away. :) I got into a great habit for about two weeks and then I stopped suddenly because of a TV show. I went to bed late and tired and didn't want to read my book of mormon. I started up again and I'm trying to get into habit. I hope you guys read it every day. After a while it really changes your life.

message 8: by Callie (new)

Callie (allicay) | 28 comments that is an awesome saying. I have a really hard time remembering to read...either that or i'm just way too lazy...

message 9: by Abbigail (new)

Abbigail Nielsen (Abberz) i've gotten into a sort of a habit but my prob is that i don't read much at a time so i'm making slow progress.

message 10: by Callie (new)

Callie (allicay) | 28 comments I had to force myself to wake up and read this morning, but it was interesting.

message 11: by Natalie (new)

Natalie | 57 comments What I started out with is, leaving time for scripture study. Put it on your calender and if something gets in the way just set reading for earlier or later it really helps. :)

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

we read as a family right before bed. i too have tried to do independent study but it didnt work out.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

I find it easier to read my scriptures at night just because it's easier to stay awake than try to wake up early in the morning.

message 14: by Callie (new)

Callie (allicay) | 28 comments but sometimes at night i argue with myself that i'm too tired. the tired side usually wins

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

Read before lunch, or at lunch or dinner...

message 16: by Abbigail (new)

Abbigail Nielsen (Abberz) now, that is something i can't do.

message 17: by ~♥Alyssa♥~ (new)

~♥Alyssa♥~ (lyssie123) | 234 comments Well, maybe as you brush your teeth, put on pajamas, etc., you can read them so you're not too tired.

message 18: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (13vjacobs) | 189 comments my sister, Luisa, keeps me in check with scripture reading. we read together independently. if that makes sense. we read at the same time, but we read different things. 2 nephi is the hardest chap to get through. i like omni. :D

message 19: by ~♥Alyssa♥~ (new)

~♥Alyssa♥~ (lyssie123) | 234 comments Really? I love 2 Nephi! There's so many good spiritual parts! The sections I find are hard to read are the ones with all the boring history.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

The story of Ammon is my favorite.

message 21: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (13vjacobs) | 189 comments me 2!!!!!!!! i also like the one with Abinidi.

message 22: by ~♥Alyssa♥~ (new)

~♥Alyssa♥~ (lyssie123) | 234 comments My little brother loves the story about Ammon, because he fights. (He's 5 years old)

message 23: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (13vjacobs) | 189 comments that's cute. that's all 5 yr old boys think abt. :)

message 24: by Abbigail (new)

Abbigail Nielsen (Abberz) i think the hardest ch. to get thru is Alma just because it's so long and when i look at how much i still have left to read, i think, 'why bother?'.

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

My cousin when he was 5, he liked when Nephi cut off alma's head.
i aggree that 2nd nephi is the hardest- i start, then get to 2nd nephi 11. isaiah was a great prophet and all, but he doesn't make sense!!!!!!

message 26: by ~♥Alyssa♥~ (new)

~♥Alyssa♥~ (lyssie123) | 234 comments I read Omni last night, and I think that's a neat little section! It's just like a summary, easy to read, and it is still interesting.

message 27: by Abbigail (new)

Abbigail Nielsen (Abberz) I don't really remember Omni very well.

message 28: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (13vjacobs) | 189 comments i know that around 6 different people wrote in that little section. :) i've given up on trying to figure out what isaiah said. he must've been a book of mormon einstein. :D

message 29: by Natalie (new)

Natalie | 57 comments Ha ha that's true!!! I'm still in nephi!!! Only because I started over for my virtue value project.

I totally agree! Isiah is just too confusing

message 31: by Austin (last edited Jun 17, 2009 07:06AM) (new)

Austin Blake | 6 comments I try to read a column of scriptures every day, which I've been doing since January. It was hard because last night I was up watching Star Wars until ten o clock and I hadn't read scriptures that night so I had to get out of bed and get in a chapter but it really helps.

message 32: by Abbigail (new)

Abbigail Nielsen (Abberz) yeah, it does help.

message 33: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (13vjacobs) | 189 comments i feel better after I read the scriptures. Even if it is talking abt war strategies(like I read yesterday).

message 34: by Abbigail (new)

Abbigail Nielsen (Abberz) ha ha! that's true. . .some parts are really violent tho!

message 35: by Amy (new)

Amy Petersen | 90 comments im in 2 nephi and its taking me forever!

message 36: by Kenzi (new)

Kenzi (kenzi52106) | 28 comments Mod
I am readng the Book Of Mormon for my personal progress, and just becuase I should be reading it. And I started like almost 2 years ago and I haven't finished it yet. But I am starting again and I am almost done with second nephi. I agree but I want to finsh it before I turn 14 so I am reading like crazy. I keep reading as many chapters as I can a day instead of reading other books.

message 37: by ~♥Alyssa♥~ (new)

~♥Alyssa♥~ (lyssie123) | 234 comments Oh, are you doing it for the Virtue value project? I'm not very happy that they added a new value. I'm trying to finish my Personal Progress up this year so I don't have to do the new one.

message 38: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (13vjacobs) | 189 comments i started reading it a year ago from april and i'm only in alma. but alma is sooooooooooo looooooong.

message 42: by Savannah (new)

Savannah (namesavannah-catcherinsoftball) ALMA is the bOMB!!!!!!!!!! I love it...I started in February and I just finished Helaman ...and I already read 4 nephi (it's only like 4 pages) so all I have left is 3 nephi, Ether, and Moroni.

message 43: by Savannah (new)

Savannah (namesavannah-catcherinsoftball) The Young Women presidency of our ward approached us with a challenge to read the book of mormon in 6 months, and the people that do get to go on a beach trip with us to Newport, Oregon and stay at a beach house that my family goes to!!!! It's AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and so i'm really excited!
