Hey guys! Are any of you involved in this Seminary "Stripling Warrior" Summer Reading Challenge? We're trying to read the whole Book of Mormon during the summer. You have to read like, 5 chapters a day, I swear! ( I really don't...) But I'm SO behind! I went to EFY and Girls Camp, and you would think we would read the scriptures a lot... but really... we don't. I'm like, 3 weeks behind! HELP! So if any of you are doing it, please give me tips! It's so hard! Thanks. :p

Veronica (13vjacobs) | 189 comments holy crap!!!!! sorry no help here. i can't do that.

message 54: by [deleted user] (new)

Read in the morning and at night Starla dear.

message 55: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm trying! I try to read after tennis. I usually only get in 2 chapters, tho. Unless they're short. Same as at night. I'm trying, tho! I need to go to bed earlier. It helps. And finish Host! It keeps me distracted from the Book of Mormon. My thoughts are elsewhere. Junk. I'll try harder!

message 56: by [deleted user] (new)

Read the Host in the middle of the day.

message 57: by [deleted user] (new)

I do. I still think about it at night!!! AAAAH! crazy. but Anyways... on to happier thoughts. about scripture reading. I'm gonna read the chapter about Wicked kind Noah and Abinadi tonight. aaah! super intense!

Jessica (JourneyStar) | 56 comments on new years I made a goal to read through the whole book of Mormon this year and I've calculated that I'll finish August 8th. I've been having difficulty getting past Heleman for years and I'm finally at Third Nephi chapter 20!(started at the beginning) I've just been reading a chapter or two every night. if I read one chapter a day then I would be more than 20 chapters ahead! I'm so happy, I'm finally going to finish the book of Mormon!

message 60: by Lexi (new)

Lexi (3TwilightLover3) | 18 comments I read my scriptures and write in my journal every day

message 61: by [deleted user] (new)

Me too, Lexi! Well, I write in my journal ALMOST every day. Unless I'm just WAY too tired. But really, writing in your journal makes it easier to fall asleep at night. I wouldn't let anyone read my journal. WAY too personal. But anyways. I'm kinda catching up with my summer reading! I'm in like, the middle of Mosiah. Pretty intense...

message 62: by Lexi (new)

Lexi (3TwilightLover3) | 18 comments Yeah I agree with you , I mean it really does sometimes I fall asleep with my journal open . I don't let anyone read my journal either. But one day I caught my friend going through it but thats okay I didn't yell at her or anything , but it happens, I just looked at her and then she shut it lol. I am just finishing up Jacob . I tried reading the bible but way too hard to understand for me at least.

message 63: by [deleted user] (new)

Ha ha that would be funny if you fell asleep with your journal open! Lol... actually, I shouldn't talk, that's totally happened to me many times... :p But no, that's not what I meant. I mean, letting out all your feelings and stuff. It just makes your conscience feel a whole lot better.

message 64: by Lexi (new)

Lexi (3TwilightLover3) | 18 comments Yeah it really does then I don't feel angy or anything. But on the scripture thing at girls camp our whole stake read the book of mormon in three days

message 65: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (JourneyStar) | 56 comments It wouldn't be all that smart to read the whole book of Mormon in three days. manly because you're suppose to study the scriptures as you read them and instead of studying you'd be focusing on reading every thing fast enough to get it done. and you wouldn't have time, thought it's technically 500 pages it's double that amount because it's harder reading. in the end it's a lot better reading it slowly and giving yourself a chance to study what you're reading as Heavenly Father has commanded us.

message 66: by [deleted user] (new)

Wow. that's pretty deep. I'll keep that in mind. But wow. the whole thing in THREE DAYS!!!??? You kidding me???? I really don't think I could do that. I read like, 5 chapters of Mosiah last night, (trying to catch up!) after midnight. I really am shock-ed and amaz-ed that I actually remember what happened. But I do!!! YAY!

message 67: by Lexi (new)

Lexi (3TwilightLover3) | 18 comments It wasn't me we had a lot of girls and we did take the time to study we took as many as we wanted and then wrote about and taked about what we thought the scripture ment to us to pass it off in something.

message 68: by [deleted user] (new)

Our ward is doing Moroni's Promise and we're supposed to finish the book of mormon by a certain date, but my momm and I decited that we would go at our own pace instead of being rushed into reading it, so we could get more out of it.

message 69: by Lexi (new)

Lexi (3TwilightLover3) | 18 comments Thats good I only read two chapters and spent to days to study them because we have that quiet time thing lol

message 70: by [deleted user] (new)

i'm not doing well. at all. i can never find time!
i'll go do it now.

message 71: by [deleted user] (new)

Good job, Zanzibar! (still love your name! even if it's just a nickname...) but ya. umm.. i'm in Alma 43... i think!!! YAY! I'm catching up!!! kinda... but yup. umm... we're not doing so hot in our family reading. we made a goal to read every day of the year. and were doing really good for a LONG time! but then we missed a day... and it all went downhill from there. no bueno. we probably don't have the spirit in our home as much as we could... :(

message 72: by Lexi (new)

Lexi (3TwilightLover3) | 18 comments Yeha same with my fam. One day just ruins it all lol

message 73: by [deleted user] (new)

Ya. if you forget one day, the whole scripture reading thing just kinda stops.
Our fam reads right before dinner. During the school year, we read @ 6:30 in the morning. it gets pretty hard, because i have to leave for the bus @ 7:15 (and get up before 6). and also, let me tell you this: seven year old sisters and five year old brothers do NOT like getting up hours before their school starts. But, somehow, that whole getting up early thing really works for us.

message 74: by Lexi (new)

Lexi (3TwilightLover3) | 18 comments Really we read ours right when we are about or suppose to be getting ready for bed

message 75: by [deleted user] (new)

we try to but we don't read it. I try to do my Independence study as much as i can though but again, 1 day ruins it.

That was really cool. Gordon B. Hinckley told that story in his book Way To Be.

message 78: by Lexi (new)

Lexi (3TwilightLover3) | 18 comments Hey I am reading that book Way to Be . I am on page like 40 or 50

message 79: by [deleted user] (new)

Geez that's good of you guys! Oh man, I'm supposed to work on the last part of my Personal Progress project today! I wonder if that's gonna happen... but anyways. I'm on Alma 60 now!!! YAY! How are you all doing in your Book Of Mormon? I think you should try to finish it by the end of the summer with me!!!

message 80: by [deleted user] (new)

That will be hard for me. *still on 1 nephi* Though it's good that your so far.

message 92: by [deleted user] (new)

Bravo.

message 93: by Hope (new)

Hope I keep a Book of Mormon in my backpack and when I have time on my hands I read them and it helps me to be calmer and more focused on my schoolwork, too. I also read every night. I keep it on my bedside table, so it's kind of hard to forget to do it.

message 94: by [deleted user] (new)

I study 15 minutes a night or more.

message 95: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, and I'm in 3rd Nephi!

message 96: by [deleted user] (last edited Mar 02, 2010 08:48PM) (new)

Kasidee | 180 comments Wolf (Em) wrote: "wow. 1 Nephi for me."

me too its just so hard to work at something and to keep the goal...

message 98: by [deleted user] (new)

yep. Working on it but I have a hard time with it.

message 99: by Hope (new)

Hope Sometimes it can be hard because I'm reading another book or I feel like I'm too tired to read, but I really try to, and I've noticed what a huge difference it makes in my life when I read them better.
