you might like m.m.kaye mysteries. there's a murder but its non-graphic and really just a whodunnit. mary stewart is good too. (the moonspinners etc)

thanks!I read Mary Stewart's books so long ago that I did not review them. I will work on it though. I read them so many times that I should be able to do it from memory, but that seems to be going as I get older. I don't have them on my Nook or Kindle and it is hard for me to hold books.

I like some cozy mysteries. I'm usually a sucker for a cute dog on the cover. I've been reading the Mrs. Jeffries Victorian mysteries and enjoying them. I'll add some others to the group bookshelf.

When we were teens (long time ago) we read MHC's mysteries which were clean (but did feature murder and some disturbing psychopaths.)
There's always Agatha Christie for a fun mystery read (except for "Then There Were None", I read that as a tween, and was haunted!)

Yes Loren,Carol Higgens Clark is Mary's daughter.She also has an ex-DIL JaneHC that also writes.
I haven't yet tried Agatha Christie and I do have her 'TTWN' here that came with the PC game,creepy,huh? Sounds good to me,lol!
I adore Mary Stewart's mystery/romances! They invariably make me want to be a 1950's heroine attracting the handsome, capable, brooding, poetry-quoting hero. Some of her later novels were, IMO, not nearly as good as the earlier ones. I think I know her whole catalog pretty much by heart, so for anyone who's looking for recommendations, here are mine in (descending) order of preference:Nine Coaches Waiting

Have you tried the Miss Julia series? They are a mystery and funny and not gory! Lilian Jackson Braun, Mary Higgins Clark, Mary Jane Clark, Joanna Carl. Not gory at all.
Does anybody else know any clean mystery authors for a series? I'm looking for a new series to go into to my library at home.

Has anyone read a book about a character going to a bed and breakfast. I think it's a cozy mystery.
I've read one or two Miranda James' books. It's been a while, but I think they were clean. I remember there was a big cat in them.
I have read the first book of the Mrs. Pollifax series (The Unexpected Mrs. Pollifax) by Dorothy Gilman. I bought the complete series of books already so I will be reading them soon. Also read the first book of Maisie Dobbs series by Jacqueline Winspear. Both are in the cozy mystery genre. It has a little bit of humor too.

Also read the ..."Yes, the Mrs. Pollifax books are great! Very funny, absolutely clean. I also read the first Maisie Dobbs and really liked it. I can't believe I didn't continue with the series. I'll have to look into that. :)

Mystery/thriller with some romance. I sure hope it works!

It's so funny that I think I am one of the absolute worst armchair detectives,yet lately I find myself reading more mysteries,lol!
I'm looking forward to starting the (Regan Reilly) humorous mystery series by Carol Higgins Clark.
I prefer the Cozy type,and especially enjoy those with a humorous touch,and suggestions for crime mysteries that don't include murder would be very much appreciated,also,like stolen relics,heirlooms,ect.
