Maybe I should push this book up my list....I was going to read Paid Companion soon by Amanda Quick.

Congrats to all who finished!!

Ty | 1943 comments finished 2nd book! Perfect Mate (Project Rebellion, #1) by Mina Carter . This had massive potential, but the writing got to me. a bit too frenetic, a bit too immature, and a little too insta-love. 2.5 stars :(
and I love zombie books too! oh well, onward.

so far:
Wilde Thing (Wilde Series, #1) by Janelle Denison Perfect Mate (Project Rebellion, #1) by Mina Carter

LaurLa | 5085 comments November 2013 PIFM Challenge - picked by Elsie

Hi Elsie - finished another. I'm gonna try to keep going...

3. Fashionista:
✔★ From Rags by Suzanne Wright by Suzanne Wright (TBR model)-- READ 11.13 - 3.5*
I really liked this one... awesome take no prisoner heroine. The hero started out just a little too alpha for me and it took him a little long to get that it (life) wasn't all about him. Overall really enjoyed it.

I'm thinking this one next.
5. Traveler:
Danger Close by Lindsay McKenna by Lindsay McKenna (TBR Thailand)

message 356: by ⚜️XAR (new)

⚜️XAR the Bookwyrm (xar-the-bookwyrm) Just finished Seduction and Snacks...and I was really torn about it. I had to force myself to keep reading it, and yet I laughed my way through most of it as well. Wound up rating it three stars but wouldn't spend money on reading the rest of the series.

Hi Zara! So far I've read two of your picks:

Muscling Through by J.L. Merrow and My Summer of Wes (Wes & Mal, #1) by Missy Welsh

Muscling Through ended up just being an okay read for me, and My Summer of Wes, which I just finished, was totally adorable.

I plan on getting in a couple more before the month is over, so here's to hoping that it happens. :)

I have finished my second and third picks were Hush, Hush and The Host I am reading Deck the Halls With Love and will start A Cowboy Under My Christmas Tree

⚜️XAR the Bookwyrm (xar-the-bookwyrm) Finished A Dixie Christmas tonight...and didn't enjoy it that much. Rated it two stars, simply because it was a quick read and the second story in the book was better than the first. I think I need to avoid this author in the future, I just don't enjoy her writing style. Next up is Key of Light, which I have already started.

hi Yz
Thanks for the awesome picks - I thought I responded but apparently not...haha! I actually listened to Imitation in Death right as you were doing my picks, so i'll just go to the next one in the series and i'm reading Exclusively Yours right now!

Finished my third pick:

One Week Girlfriend (Drew + Fable, #1) by Monica Murphy

It was okay. I gave it a 2.5 star rating. The biggest problem that I had with it was that it all felt too "insta love" for me. I'm curious enough to continue on with the series, but not really any time soon. Thanks for helping me get it off my "to-read" shelf.

Fran | 12278 comments Hi KarenH!

I finished two more of your picks.... Screwdriver (Cocktales, #2) by Mari Carr and Shaken by Dee Tenorio . Screwdriver was cute and a nice light read. Shaken was so emotional and awesome (exactly like you said it would be!). I loved it!

Thanks for the great picks!

Elke (ejurca) | 1810 comments Finished my 3rd pick Curtsies & Conspiracies (Finishing School, #2) by Gail Carriger !!

On to maybe my final pick #4

message 364: by ⚜️XAR (new)

⚜️XAR the Bookwyrm (xar-the-bookwyrm) Just finished Key of Light, and thought it was a decent read. Will be rating it three stars, as I thought it wasn't quite as good as other series of hers that I have read in years past. Need to "cleanse my reading palate" so to speak, so am going to read Cake Icing, Butt Budder & Tea Lids next.

message 365: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments i finished up Exclusively Yours which was recommended to me by Yz - Overall it was cute...i've been seeing this series mentioned in various places and its been giving me the evil eye for not trying it...haha - so i'm glad I did - i'll likely be checking out the others in the future.

I also finished The Strange Case of Finley Jayne which is the prequel to The Girl in the Steel Corset which Yz also recommended and looking forward to reading the full book

Glad you liked them, Fran! I was so amazed at how much emotion was packed into Shaken. It was the first thing I read by the author, but it put her firmly on my list of authors to look for.

i have finished two of your choices for me, If I Stay (If I Stay, #1) by Gayle Forman and The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield . "if i stay" was a very emotional read for me, and i gave it 5*. "the thirteenth tale" was a good read as well, and i gave it 4.5*.
i hope to get to Faro's Daughter by Georgette Heyer and Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen before the end of the month, but we shall see.

message 375: by Carla (new)

Carla (carlacollette) | 347 comments Shelby--I just finished my second PIFM challenge book this month, Trust Me and liked it. It was light and fun, and I liked the mystery. The quaint description of the 90s-era PDA was quite hilarious, too. Thanks for the good pick.

message 376: by ⚜️XAR (new)

⚜️XAR the Bookwyrm (xar-the-bookwyrm) Well, Jojo, we're in the home stretch now, and here's where I stand after finishing Cake Icing, Butt Budder & Tea Lids tonight: I chose 8 of your picks to definitely read and I've finished 7/8, though I have started Rock Chick. Out of the 5 "I might get to these" picks, I have finished 3/5 of the books, though I attempted to read a 4th, I got so annoyed with it, I could not finish it. So, my 2/3rds tally stands at 10/13, with 1 abandoned. Probably will head to Extreme Exposure next, before doubling back to pick up Rock Chick.

As for Cake Icing, Butt Budder & Tea Lids, I have mixed feelings about it. Overall, I found it boring, but there where points where I did smile or chuckle at it. I rated it a 2 star read, but its actually more of a 2.5 star read for me. Here's hoping I can break out of my slump of not enjoying the current spate of books!

Yes it is a great short story. It can be read out of order too, since they are secondary characters who work at the newspaper. Its a fun read, I gave it 5 stars.

Erin (erin-b) Gea, I finished my first pick last week, Thankless in Death (In Death, #37) by J.D. Robb and loved it. Thanks for the pick, it's one of my favorite series. I am still hoping to get to Duck! (Avian Shifters, #1) by Kim Dare before the month it over, but there has been even less reading time than anticipated. I'm still eyeing a few of the other books on my list for next month.

On Dublin Street by Young, Samantha- Three Stars
Tempt Me at Twilight by Kleypas, Lisa- Four Stars (I loved it)

Hi Karen!

I can fit it in :)

I am reading two books now and should be done by Sunday. How about starting on Monday the 25th? Or if you want to start earlier, you can read it when you want and we can chat about it around the 27th or so.

It was picked for me too for the M&G, so that works out great :)
