Fiona read the warning sign posted outside the maze. She shrugged and went in anyway. She did still have a small desire to burn things. Those animals would be scared of her if they knew what was good for them.
As luck would have it, she didn't see anything - or anyone - else. She looked up as a shadow passed over her. "Jasper?" she whispered, unbelievingly. "He's leaving! My God! I can't let this happen. Well, I did want to burn things. Hope this damn hedge isn't magically fireproofed. Probably will be after this, though."
She closed her eyes and held up her hands, summoning a ball of fire to each hand. She opened her eyes and threw the right one. Once a large enough hole was burnt in the hedge, she threw the left one through the hole to the next hedge. She climbed through both holes and found herself in a strange forest.

Rika wrote: "Andrew nodded "this is true" he said with a smile, leading her to the nearest entrance and walking inside. "which way?" he asked, "either was we may not get out for a while" he reminded her. "unless of course we shift and and jump over or crawl under the hedges, but that would only be a last resort."
"Let's go this way," Liv said, heading to the right. She had no reason for going one way over the other, so she'd just randomly picked one.
"There are supposed to be monsters in here. How are you at fighting?" Not that she would need the help, but he probably wouldn't like her doing all the fighting for them. It might make him feel emasculated. Of course, she was sure she could remedy that should it occur.

"Okay, so maybe I should take care of the fighting," Olivia murmured. "I may not look it, but I'm really good at fighting. In both human and leopard form. I rarely need to shift to take out the vampires I hunt. Of course, it helps that they never expect a petite female to have an alpha's strength," she said with a wink.
She turned back to facing forwards and started walking once more, still holding his hand. She wouldn't drop it unless she needed to fight something.

"I don't have that much time for fun. I like to read, and listen to music. Otherwise, I work, help Mama around the house, and watch out for Lucy. It's been just the three of us since I was twelve and Lu was ten. I've had one job or another since I turned fifteen.
"I started working for the Hunter's Guild just before my seventeenth birthday. The money I made from that is the only reason I could actually go to college. I got a scholarship here, but Mama wouldn't have been able to pay the mortgage if I hadn't saved almost all my earnings from hunting.
"I think I started rambling at some point in there. Sorry 'bout that," she murmured. She rarely talked so much around anyone, save maybe her family. He made her feel comfortable. Among other, less civilized things.

He nodded, listening carefully to every word she said. "its fine" he whispered softly. "I love hearing you talk" he admitted "It sounds almost calming in a way...if that makes sense." HE turned to her ans smiled before turning his head back to the path.
Olivia blushed lightly. "Yeah, I guess it makes sense.
"I just feel really comfortable with you, you know? I feel like I could tell you anything," she said with a shrug.
They came to a turn in the path, one that took them further into the maze. Just a few yards after the turn, the path split again, with one branch going straight and the other going to the left. "Which way?"

"I doubt this is 'the norm' for humans. Most shifters, though, would think this tame. I mean, we haven't seen a single monster yet. I wonder what kind of monsters are in her anyway..." she mused.
"I'm not usually a girly girl. I just decided to dress up a little today," she said with a small shrug. And a bright blush. HE was the reason she'd decided to dress up at all; she'd hoped to run into him again at some point during the day. Hell, he was the reason she'd sat on that bench right outside of her dorm. And he was to blame for her completely spacing out on her hunting kit. She had been completely distracted by thoughts of him since the first time she laid eyes on him.

"Thank you," Liv murmured. She put her arm around him and leaned up to kiss him on the cheek. "Skirts aren't terribly practical for fighting in; that's the main reason I don't wear them very often," she said with a shrug.
"I don't know." Her stomach growled audibly. "Oh! I didn't get breakfast. I was supposed to go eat with my roommate after my morning run. I forgot. I guess we should go get food next," she said with a light blush.

"At least you're letting her spend some time with him. I don't think I could let Lu spend time with someone I suspect to be a demon, even once she is of age." She leaned up to kiss his cheek again, then stepped away slightly and took his hand once more.
She could see a crossroads ahead, with a path heading in all four directions. Unknown to either of them, however, was the monstrous spider just off the crossroads, hanging out on the top of one hedge. It had huge, poisonous fangs. It was, in fact, a huge spider, measuring several feet across.
"Looks like there's another crossroads coming up. Maybe there will be monsters coming up, too." A fight would be an excellent way to work off the sexual frustration boiling through my system. So long as I don't have to shift. That could end awkwardly as I have to undress first so I don't ruin my clothes. Then again, that could end very, very well.

Andrew nodded "Alright" he said, walking up and looking all directions "which was should we go?" he asked Something doesn't feel right he thought to himself. He pulled Olivia closer on instinct, not thinking about his actions. "stay close" he said softly as he looked around. "Tread carefully" he added "If we disturb something, be ready to fight." he looked down to make sure she was alright, even though he knew she more then likely would be.
((I would too. ^_^ ))
Olivia also felt like something was off. Hoping it was a monster, she decided to head towards the scent now teasing her nostrils. "Let's go this way," she said, heading to the right.
They made it less than a yard past the crossroads when a giant shadow passed over them. "Drop and roll!" she exclaimed. Her hand slipped out of his as she dropped to the ground, immediately rolling forwards down the path. She looked back to see what was attacking them and if Andrew had gotten clear of the monster.

"Don't know. Don't care," Liv said, grinning. She dropped her hunting kit to her elbow and reached in with the opposite hand to pull out a large hunting knife.
"Come and get it, you big bastard," she muttered towards the spider as she let the purse drop to the ground. No way was she letting the damned thing sneak up on them.
She glanced at Andrew as he moved closer. "Figured we could stand to work off some sexual frustration," she said with a shrug. "Fighting's good for that."
As the spider began to move towards them, she dropped into a fighting stance. Although... it looked like the knife might be too small to do much against this thing. If that proved to be the case, she'd just ask Andrew to distract it while she undressed and shifted. He should be able to shift without destroying his clothes, as his cat form was fairly small.

Olivia switched the grip on the knife to where she held the blade. She offered it to Andrew, hilt first. "This is all I have that will work against it. You use it. Just keep it distracted until I can shift. And we should kill it so it can't hurt anyone in the future."

Liv shrugged. "That's fine. All you need to do is keep it off me for a few seconds." She backed up a few feet, then began to undress. First, her shoes, then her skirt and shirt, then her tights. In less than half a minute, she was down to just her underwear.
So long as Andrew could keep the damned thing occupied, she would have plenty of time to finish undressing before shifting, thereby saving her underwear. Her shirt and skirt might have survived her shifting while fully dressed, but everything else would have been destroyed.

When Andrew disappeared, Liv nearly shifted. But something told her not to. After a second or so, he appeared out of the pile of clothes and ran towards the spider. She smiled as she saw him dart between the spider's legs, weaving his way in and out between them. The spider had started trying to follow him and looked ready to fall over. She quickly stripped out of her underwear, letting it fall to the grass as she shifted.
She gave a loud roar of warning, then crouched down. Once Andrew was clear of the spider, she would pounce on it and finish it off. It shouldn't take too long to take it out; it was already getting dizzy so that would work in her favor.

Once she saw Andrew's small form dart out of the way, Liv pounced on the spider. She scratched it with both paws, then leaped off again before it could sink fangs into her. She repeated that same action several times, until the spider was thoroughly bloody and barely moving. Then she pounced and bit it on the back of its head, tearing the head off violently. The body fell to the ground and she dropped its head on top before letting out a roar of triumph.
Then she jumped to the side and looked herself over. She had the ugly thing's blood all over her, and some poison burning its way through her fur in places. She darted off down the path, past the pile of her clothes, and shook like a wet dog in an attempt to remove the blood and poison from her body. She got off most of the blood this way, but had to roll around in the grass to rid herself of the poison. Even that didn't get rid of all of it, though; some of it had eaten its way down into her skin. She would have to shift to get rid of that.

He padded out from under the bushes, he had a few splatters of blood on his Amber-brown coat. He walked over to the clothes and purred in contentment, mostly that she was not hurt, his tail moving back and forth quickly.
She went back towards where she'd left her clothes. She smiled internally to see Andrew's tail wagging like a dog's tail. Once she reached her clothes, she shifted back to human. She gasped in pain and sat down hard on her clothes.
"Shit," she muttered. "That didn't get rid of all of the poison." She fainted before she could say another word. There wasn't enough poison in her system to kill her, but she would feel pretty lousy for the couple of hours it would take to work its way out of her body.

Olivia didn't feel him pawing at her side, or putting his shirt on her. She groaned as he picked her up, waking up temporarily with the movement. Her eyelids twitched but never opened fully. In seconds, she was asleep again. She snuggled into his chest in her sleep, sighing softly.
The poison was working its way through her system, bringing with it more pain and a violent urge to blow chunks. Still unconscious, she turned her head away from his chest and promptly threw up. As she hadn't eaten all day, it was just stomach acid and a few blobs of poison from where she'd bitten the spider's head off in leopard form. She would feel worse and worse over the next twenty or thirty minutes, then she would finally start to feel better. In an hour or two, she would be mostly back to normal, just weak.

Being sick like that woke Olivia up a little. "Where am I?" she whispered in a hoarse voice. She lifted her head a little, before letting it fall back down so that her chin hit her chest. "Andrew, I," she started. She coughed violently, spitting up a small amount of the poison onto his shirt. "I love you," she finished in a soft whisper. She honestly thought she was going to die, and she wanted him to know how she felt before she went.

"I'm going to die. The poison is lethal," she murmured before passing out once more. As far as she knew, there was nothing that could be done for her. She didn't think even the best healer would be able to help her. She was convinced she was going to die.
But at least she had saved him from the same fate. Only she would die, not both of them.
But at least she had saved him from the same fate. Only she would die, not both of them.

Andrew frowned "No you are not" he said a bit stubbornly, not really knowing if she could hear him or not. He quickened his pace, coming out to the courtyard finally. He looked around, biting his lip, where should her take her? He stepped out, and sighed "Someone has to be somewhere" he whispered to himself. HE would not admit it but he was starting to panic, it was obvious her words had gotten to him.
((Mine - so, Xantra, Illy, and Jacob - and Iesha's - so Draven and Elvira. Xantra is probably the best bet. I'll post for her in her office.
Did you see that I posted in Reception?))

((I can't really think of anything else to post for Liv, so would you mind posting either in Xantra's Office or Reception? I was thinking he'd take her to Reception first since he doesn't know where the professors' offices are... ^_^))
Phrixus had walked around the the campus to get a feel for what the his new home was like. He finds himself walking along the tall hedges of the maze. He was surprised to see that the Maze was taller than himself. "Strange magic and creatures lives amongst these walls. Dark magic by the looks of it"Phrixus place a bare hand on the bush and closes his eyes. He could feel the life of many crawling throughout the maze and he could hear so many noises. He was standing at the entry of one of the opening now.
Kaden hurried towards the edge of campus, looking for an entrance to the maze. He soon found a scent trail, a strong scent trail - they'd been intimate, or very close to it, before they came here. Well, well... so much for the goody-goody Andrew. I knew that girl was stubborn. Good for her. He smirked to himself.
He saw the centaur standing at the entrance, but paid him little mind, darting around him and into the maze, following the trail his nose had picked up. It shouldn't take long for him to find the spider they'd fought; their scent was still strong, so it had to be pretty recent.

(My bad. )
Phrixus had heard the hard footsteps of Kaden. He's fast. The warrior spirit and the horse nature inside of Phrixus pulled at his entire being to run after the boy to see if he could match his speed.
He could hear Kaden footsteps growing fainter by the minute. "I could follow. If he wants to fight then so be it but if he is just running than he shouldn't mind me following him" Phrixus front legs came up twice before he grops into the maze after Kaden. He wasn't going to interact with the guy, he just wanted to see what he was doing.

Kaden followed the scent trail around a couple of turns until he came across a large, very dead spider. Just a few yards further away was a large purse sitting next to a pile of clothes. That must be her clothes. And her purse, I guess. But why is it open? He went to the pile of clothes and pulled out the largest item, what appeared to be a denim skirt. He took it back to the spider and used it to pick up the detached head. He turned over the bundle and looked at the spider's head.
"She'll be fine," he muttered in relief. He looked up as two shadows fell on him, one from the centaur he'd seen at the entrance and the other from a woman floating in the air above him.
*****
"Is that the spider the girl killed?" Xantra asked as she landed next to the boy holding the head.
*****
"Yeah. But it's not poisonous. Not dangerously so anyway. It would take the venom from dozens of this spider of this size to kill a human. As she's a shifter, it would take closer to a hundred."
*****
Well, he would know. Being a drow and all. I guess it's good he was here.
"Thank you, sir. Can you dispose of the remains? I need to get back to her and let her young man know she'll be fine." She moved past him and gathered up the rest of the young woman's things, shoving her clothes into the bag. And the knife she found nearby as well. From the look of the contents, this was no purse. It was a Hunter's kit. Brave little thing, she is. Stupid, maybe, but brave.
She went back to the young man she'd spoken to and introduced herself to him and the centaur. "I'm Xantra Dominic, the head Professor of Wind Magic. I would ask your names, but I really should get back to my patient. I hope to see the both of you later," she said and curtsied to them. Then she took off into the air once more, walking through it back to the window of the student center from which she had left.
*****
"Hey, man. Sorry I didn't introduce myself earlier. I was just worried about a girl I met earlier. She apparently tangled with a spider and got herself poisoned. Since I know way more than I want to about spiders, I thought I'd come see what I could find out." He shrugged and held out his hand towards the centaur. "Kaden Everahel."

Phrixus watched the dark elf with the deceased creature. An sadness spreads over his body as another creature that could have been good was killed. He could feel the negative energy that was pouring throughout this maze that were making the creatures behavior skew in an negative way. (view spoiler) He watched them pick up some female clothes as he walks slowly toward the spider's body.
An anger had filled Phrixus gentle eyes as he seen the hunter blade. His right hand had clenched at his side as he eyeballed the blade. When the wind professor spoke, the anger leave his mind for the time being. He knew when he should be angry and when he should not, and now wasn't the time. He nodded at the Wind Professor before she left.
Phrixus took the elf outstretch hand and gave his hand a firm spake. "Phrixus Blackfoot" Pride and power filled his voice. "I understand your worry for the girl, but she used a hunter's blade to slay this creature. This creature's behavior may have been off. Or they may have walked gotten to close to it's nest...I just worried about the creatures of this Maze and beyond-the forest that's all" Phrixus turns in the direction of the Forest. "It's a pleasure to meet you, but I would like to explore some more"

"Actually, she didn't use a blade to kill it. I doubt the blade even touched it." He turned the bundle over carefully to revealed the many fang marks in the back of the creature's head. "She's a were-leopard. I'm pretty sure she just tore it apart with teeth and claws," he explained with a shrug.
"And the spider's behavior likely wasn't off at all. This particular type of spider is highly aggressive. But I do agree something feels off about this place.
"I shall leave you to your exploration, then. I need to return to my friend anyway. I made a promise to hurry here." He carried the bundle over to where the body of the spider lay, and let the head fall out of the skirt he'd been using to carry it. He stepped back and looked around to make sure the centaur was not too close, then summoned a small fireball to his free hand.
He quickly burned the creature's remains, extinguishing the fire before it could spread to any of the maze hedges. He wasn't sure the skirt he held could be saved. He looked it over critically, frowning at the sight of several small holes in the fabric. Deciding that it, too, was a loss, he burned it as well before turning back to exit the way he'd come.

Phrixus turns back and he leans over to get a look at the creature. Bite marks! They were there alright. The anger in his chest disappears almost completely. "I see so she is an shifter warrior. How mighty of her to have taken down such a powerful creature such as this one"Phrixus took a few steps back to give Kaden room.
Watching the elf, Phrixus could smell the natural scent he carried. elf Within minutes,Phrixus eyes widen a little at the flama. Like a horse he sway a little back and forward at the sight of fire. He watches as the elf turned the spider ablaze. "A simple burial would have done the trick"He didn't dislike the burning of the insect but he didn't favor using fire as much to take care of the dead. He turns to leave but stopped to watch the elf head back in the direction he had came. Our paths may cross again strong warrior of the elves. He runs in the opposite direction from Kaden.

"A simple burial would have let the remaining venom seep into the ground, potentially poisoning the maze, the forest, and the campus. That's why I burned it," Kaden said over his shoulder as he walked away.
He walked back out of the maze the way he'd come in, paying little attention to anything other than his path. He had a woman to get back to, an innocent, one he looked forward to seducing. He shook his head as if to clear it, but the thought wouldn't leave. Now there were pictures accompanying it as well(view spoiler) .
He'd already decided against that course of action, hadn't he? That had been his original plan, but then he'd spent time with her and gotten to know her and had no longer wanted to do that to her. So why was that all he could think of now?
He did not realize the amount of the power imbalance at the school currently; there was a subtle dark energy flowing through campus, one that would take hold of anyone with dark inclinations. A demon blood, even one who was trying to improve himself for love - or at least lust - of a woman, definitely fit the bill.

Raze takes Briea to the maze. Upon approaching the maze, Raze could feel the wolf within him stirring. He shakes his head to clear away the uncomfortable feeling. "Here's the maze I came through. We will have to find out way through it" Raze rolled his eyes at the task of once again finding his way through the maze.
"I hope you are better at directions than I" He commented. He released her hand and took the lead in walking into the maze first. For some reason, he craved a fight or something to sink his fangs into. His body was preparing to take on whatever challenge presented itself.

Briea shrugged. "I'm not terrible at directions, but I'm not great at them either. If I could access my hybrid form right now, I could fly up and take a look. But I won't have that option for another week or two." She paused.
"Unless I get seriously injured, in which case, I revert and heal almost everything," she said with a shrug. "But then I can't transform again for... a month or so? I'm not sure. Having sex may have affected the ability as well," she said, shrugging as she realized she was rambling. She didn't know why she was rambling; she wasn't nervous. She shouldn't be nervous.
But she was. Something felt... off. Strange. Possibly a demonic presence, a strong one. But not demonic as she knew it, different somehow.
((I'm thinking they should run into Tarii. ^_^ Her presence was what I was trying to hint at.))
