If you need help then these groups are the place to ask. There are not many reasons for needing to PM a specific librarian for help. Many librarians have private profiles for exactly that reason.
Gizella wrote: "He/She put on the book I wanted to ask about."Fair enough, but you can still ask your question here. An alternative would be to contact Customer Support and ask them to forward your query.
Thank you, maybe tomorrow. Now I am too upset about the fact that I cannot ask a question from a GR librarian.I am a GR librarian, too, and I just CANNOT ACCEPT such kind of attitude.
Good night and thanks again for listening to my problem.

It is difficult to find privacy on the Internet. Not everyone wants their every moment to be followed.

But it is OK, I just misunderstood the librarian status. I thought we were here to build the database, to correct mistakes, to help other members... My mistake.
Have a very nice Sunday!

Some people don't allow messages from non-friends on GoodReads. They are members first and librarians second. Not allowing messages from non-friends is a personal choice and isn't made based on whether someone is a librarian or not. I'm not sure what's unacceptable about that?
Goodreads has never made accepting messages from other librarians a requirement of being a librarian.
Personally, I'm a librarian mainly to fix problems I find myself while I'm noodling around Goodreads and any problems people in my group have, not to field every single issue non-librarians have.
I said it was OK, though I find this "not allowing messages" quite rude (yeah, I know, it's my problem:). If a non-friend wants to send a message to me I am sure it is because he/she finds it important. For me it is natural to help if I can. (OK, I know it's a fault, but I can live with it, so...)Dear Liam, I wanted to fix a problem I found myself while noodling around GR, and it seemed that this person who put the book data on could help me... That's all. As I wrote before MY MISTAKE, SORRY!
I'm not a librarian myself but know from other sites hate messages can be directed at moderators and librarians as a target for other peoples hate and anger. Keeping their profiles for themselves stop that hate spreading. We get all the help we need from the groups and if we don't there is the contact support button.
"For me it is natural to help if I can. (OK, I know it's a fault, but I can live with it, so...)"Your thinly veiled judgmental arrogance is actually glaringly obvious, of course the librarians want to help, but like it is stated above, there are groups for that, there is no need to bother anyone personally. Being on the internet does not actually mean you have to give up all aspects of privacy.
