Also this isn't by a female author, but it struck my fancy: The Moon is a Harsh Mistress.
Lets read Probability Moon next, starting in January. Since it's a short book(>300pgs), it shouldn't take long to read. I propose we follow it with Oryx and Crake.
Has anyone read Rendezvous With Rama by Arthur C. Clarke? I've seen it mentioned a few places recently and thought it might be an interesting read.

I really loved Nancy Kress's Beggars in Spain. Perhaps her Probability Moon could be a selection? Or if you know of other well-regarded lady authors please share!
