Personally I liked the slow pace, it set up the atmosphere and I liked how you got to know more about the characters through their personal lives. That being said I still prefer moments such as the 6 minute tracking shot in episode 4 and the final episode when they find out who the Yellow King is.

Also there is one detective series I wanted to recommend to you, and that show it called Twin Peaks (it's currently one of my favs).

pics&books (cori3books) | 403 comments i am loving 11.22.63 on HULU. i am also a huge fan of American Crime. Great acting and great writing - very thought-provoking subject matter (both season one and two).

Melanie There are so many good ones now but I have to say Six Feet Under. More recently I've really enjoyed Broadchurch (the original British version).

Really enjoying the new Harlan Coben series "Five"

and "The Tunnel"

Tonight in the UK starts new series "Legends"

message 310: by Toby (new)

Toby Turner | 49 comments Couldn't get to grips with Sky's The Tunnel having watched the original programme on BBC4 (The Bridge).
100 Code was good and although I'm probably alittle bit late to the party Daredevil and Jessica Jones on Netflix brought a gritty character driven feel to superhero genre.
Saw a mention of Firefly too, a programme cancelled far too early.

message 311: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) I loved the first season of the US version of The Bridge. Am looking forward to watching The Night Manager.

I am looking forward to that as well. We are really into The Americans (Kerry Russell) and we finished the Hulu series 11.22.63. that was fabulous!

message 313: by Toby (new)

Toby Turner | 49 comments The Americans is brilliant but seems to have been buried on some random channel in the UK.
The Night Manager and 11.22.63 next for us. Looking forward to these based on the reviews so far

message 314: by pics&books (new)

pics&books (cori3books) | 403 comments The Night Manager is on our list as well. Not sure if you have amazon prime, but three seasons of the americans is available for streaming.

we are also obsessed with orphan black. sooooo good!

message 315: by Sandycurtis (new)

Sandycurtis (sandinacurtin) | 8 comments the killing , midsummer murders, vera, actually any uk produced series about police procedures - go acorn tv

message 316: by Alex (new)

Alex Murphy | 2 comments Just finished Line of Duty. One of the best BBC shows, have always enjoyed these series. Much better than the stuff usually BBC does.

The Night Manager was OK, didn't think it deserved all the hype.

Haven't seen enough of 11.23.63 yet, I think it's good but think it's one of those shows that's going to depend on how it's going to end.

Last Man on Earth is one of the best comedies on at the moment.

Lost Interest in a few series I used to watch...

Ray Donovan, Limitless, The Americans

Blindspot is very good.

Five quite good

Supergirl, fun

Arrow not as good as it was

Blacklist, still okay

Hawaii Five O good.

Flash, still good.

message 318: by Charles (new)

Charles Robinson | 1 comments All time favorite is 24.

Besides Blacklist, Blue Bloods and Criminal Minds being what I mainly watch now, there are quite a few other shows I do watch after their season is over.

Have a love and hate relationship with Limitless, gave up after 4 shows and came back for some odd reason and now I want it to be over and done with the same with Blindspot.

Tanked Supergirl after 6 shows, not going to dig that one back up at all.

Hawaii Five 0 was one of my best shows for 3 seasons and then I lost complete interest. Surprised its still broadcasting new shows here in the US.

Love my British crime shows I can only catch on Netflix and Amazon Prime after their season has ended. They are so good!!!!!!!

24 always been my favourite.

It changed some many series that followed.

message 320: by Bradley (new)

Bradley West (bradleywest) First season of True Detective was a gem. Luther seasons 1-3 equally dark. Homeland is still hanging in there as is The Americans, but both feel long in the tooth.

Recently our teenage son said that 24 still kicked everything else's butt, so we dusted off seasons one and four and re-watched them. He was right, though I'd like it better if it was a tad more realistic.

message 321: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) For me it's the X-Files! Absolutely wonderful series - haven't been that addicted to show in years. I remember I would refuse to answer the phone during the X-Files.

message 322: by pics&books (new)

pics&books (cori3books) | 403 comments we loved true detective - both seasons! i cannot wait for next season. does anyone watch american crime - another brilliant (in my opinion) series! such great story telling and a truly awesome cast!

we also love penny dreadful. another creative series.

Aymen Ben cheikh Lately I ve been into turkish series, there are some really good ones.

message 324: by Amy (new)

Amy (thenikitagirl) | 636 comments I agree with everyone on 24. Such a great show and premise. I am currently watching The Following now and find it reminds me of 24 in the way that it's taped.

message 325: by Aymen (new)

Aymen Ben cheikh Prison Break season one was crazy, I watched 10 episodes in one day.

message 326: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Eh....even when I could afford cable, I didn't watch the networks much. There weren't any series that interested me. Everything I was interested in watching was all on HISTORY, FOOD, DISCOVERY, ANIMAL PLANET, PBS and/or CARTOON NETWORK.

message 327: by Aymen (new)

Aymen Ben cheikh Hi I found this clip about a turkish series I m watching, and there are english subtitles so I decided to share it. It s a spoiler if anyone is watching this series,

Not sure about the second series of Legends..

Secrets on ITV with James Nesbitt..Chilling and a true story.

Enjoyed Masterchef, but thought Jack should have one, but close.

Billions starts here in the UK on Thursday.

And the finals of Britains Got Talent

Jason E. Fort (fortress23) | 154 comments My absolute favorite series is called The Circle, by Ted Dekker. They consist of the books Black, Red, White, and Green.

They are Christian fiction, and although very evangelical in nature if you know anything about Christianity, the fantastic world Dekker creates is amazing as he writes about a man named Thomas Hunter who is being chased in this world by organized crime members for reasons that he can't remember; yet every time he sleeps or is knocked unconscious, he wakes up in a post-apocalyptic world several thousand years in the future.

The main character, Thomas hunter, evolves to become something a little different in each book, the further you progress in the series. And the spiritual parallels to a Christian's spiritual walk is so moving.

The Following was another series that I thought was good for one series, should have then stopped, do not watch it now.

Jason E. Fort (fortress23) | 154 comments Ha - I thought we were talking about book series. TV series - I loved MacGuyber growing up, but to this day I think the funniest sitcom was the show Coach, with Luther Van Dyke and Craig T. Nelson.

I just heard this week that they are making a remake of MacGyver!

message 337: by Jason E. (new)

Jason E. Fort (fortress23) | 154 comments Yes...I am not sold on the young fellow playing the lead yet. They gave him a quasi-mullet, but that doesn't just make him a good fit for MacGuyver. I will give it a go. Just loved seeing how the MacGuyver always rigged his way out of any jam.

Really enjoyed the

"Bitains Got Talent " Final.

Could have picked at least 5 winners.

Happy for Richard Jones, a true gentleman, soldier and magician.

Loved Storm Troopers, who came third

Trip Hazard, who came fifth

The two young girls.(4th and 6th)

Loved crooner Wayne, who came second

I did see Marcella and thought it was ok. Not a patch on scandi drama, The Bridge. Can't believe it's the same writer.

BGT final was pretty good. Ashley Banjo's compilation piece at the end was the best part of the entire series. Love Diversity.

Really excellent Janet. If you watched/enjoyed 'The Sopranos', i think you would enjoy this. I think the last 2 series (4+5) are the best. Quite violent though.

I don't have Netflix now. Hopefully Sky might buy it as a boxset. I'll give it a whirl then.

Nice to see you around btw! ;-)

message 350: by Paul (new)

Paul Oh shucks... thanks Janet.

I had the box-set. Gave it to a friend, as it's unlikely i'll want to watch it again. Same with The Sopranos box-set.
