Sue (coccotoro) | 2087 comments I like Homeland and The Americans.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 652 comments I've mentioned that the only thriller type series I'm really interested in any more is Grimm. I sort of burned out on everything else. I have hopes for the new season.

Jaye Rothman | 3 comments Homeland is awesome, and in NZ we've just finished The Americans - series 2 I think.

I'm waiting Jaye for the The Americans, Season 3 to be available...I pre-ordered it from Amazon.com in June but haven't received notification, when I will receive it!

Last few days watched two brand new series.

1.. Ballers with The Rock, did not like at all !

2.. The Fixer, loved this, fast, action packed, gripping and tense, with Eric Dana, the star of The Last Ship.

Andre is very popular. But I miss some of the pro dancers of old. They had more personality. It seems too slick now. And the judges are getting on my nerves. If they want perfection why bother with amateurs?! Just watch the pro dancers every week. Their expectations are far too high and getting higher. Ridiculous!

message 214: by Sean, Moderator (new)

Sean Peters | 10545 comments Mod
Some great dancers.

Some favourites

Peter Andre,

Anita Arani,

Georgia May Foote

Helen George

Katie Deham.

Lost interest in the third series

of Homeland, as well The Americans, Ray Donovan

Looking forward to The Flash starts in a weeks time, and new series The Last Panthers looks good.

message 217: by Janet , Moderator (new)

Janet | 5303 comments Mod
Don't mind if any of those go.

I'm still hanging in there with Homeland. Couldn't get into Ray Donovan and haven't tried The Americans.

Are you still watching The X Factor? What do you think of this year's changes? Do Grimshaw and Rita work for you?

Sean Peters | 10545 comments Mod
Yes, tape it, so many commercials.

Watch Strictly, then go to bed to watch The X Factor, which means I guess your watching it !

I will be soon

I liked Rita on The Voice, it is a shame they lost her, I like her. Grimshaw, not brilliant.

Waiting to see who the public voted for which acts?

message 219: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee I think PBS Masterpiece Series has THE best lineup than American television, especially since they canceled Hannibal!

Anyway, on Sunday nights I'm glued to PBS. All drama should be solved before 7:

Indian Summer--(at first I wasn't going to watch it because of the racist elements, but I gave it a chance and love it.

Home Fires and The Guilty. There was one show, I can't remember the name, where this man would kill his wives for the insurance money, a true story--Wow!

I can't wait for Sherlock Holmes and Downton Abbey next year.

Amy (thenikitagirl) | 636 comments If anyone watches The Walking Dead, I am sitting here in devastation. It's insane that we can become so attached to a fictional character this much, but there's no other way to put it after this weeks episode. I am sick and utterly devastated. I may softly cry myself to sleep. #dontjudgeme

Helen George, Peter Andre and Anita.

Starting soon Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here !

message 227: by Richard (new)

Richard Murphy | 3 comments The Sopranos, The Wire, The Bridge (scandanavian drama). I also enjoyed the early seasons of both 24 and Homeland.

message 228: by Amy (new)

Amy (thenikitagirl) | 636 comments Love The Wire, Richard. So gritty. Excellent ensemble.

message 229: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee The new show called "Wicked City" has me hooked. I know the lead character is a twisted psycho, but he is FINE!! (And his English accent that he doesn't use on the show is adorable) But mostly, it's the chase of trying to catch him and his even more psychotic girlfriend that has my attention.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 652 comments I'm a little torn about that show. It is well done but frankly it's creepy.

Thanks :-). Must admit I found the Wire tough at first but the more I watched the more I liked it.

Creepier than Hannibal? But let me know when its grown on you:)

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 652 comments I find myself curious about it but don't know if I'll continue to follow. Jury's still out.

Diane Lynch (dianedesmarrstlynch) | 306 comments Stephen King The Gunslimgher series. All time best ending.

message 235: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Not thrillers (mostly), unless you're into historical fiction but the early books in Michael Jecks' series about Sir Baldwin Furshill and Simon Puttock. Tied with it are two series by Jim Butcher: THE DRESDEN FILES and THE CODEX ALERA.

message 236: by Marilee (new)

Marilee (hatchling) | 37 comments My favorite TV series? Hands down, Fargo. It's weird, funny, violent and features memorable characters. Quite a mix, but it works.

I've also enjoyed The Bridge… sorry it only went two seasons, but sometimes shorter durations for series are a good thing as it's better for them to end while we wish we could see more.

I also enjoy the various Masterpiece shows… both the dramas and Mysteries. Sunday night spent with PBS is never wasted.

message 237: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee I agree, I absolutely love Sunday nights with PBS. Their line-up, to me, is better than American TV.

message 238: by Mike (the Paladin) (last edited Nov 19, 2015 02:01PM) (new)

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 652 comments ...PBS is American TV they just show productions from different places such as BBC. Many of us got to know programs like Doctor Who and All Creatures Great and Small through PBS stations.

message 239: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Many of us learned how bad our programming was by watching PBS and BritComs. When I was a kid, I never watched network TV. Everyone at school was going "AAAAYYYY..." and I had been watching Monty Python.

message 240: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee Mike and Kirsten, I know, right? PBS has always been my favorite channel to watch. I remember All Creatures Great and Small, and I still look at reruns of Doctor Who. I miss the Agatha Christie series, the Bronte romances turned into series--I could go on!!! American TV should really take notice.

message 241: by Mike (the Paladin) (last edited Nov 19, 2015 02:29PM) (new)

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 652 comments I like some of both but little of either I suppose, LOL. I don't watch a lot of TV any more. I think the only programs I catch regularly are Grimm and Big Bang Theory. I watch movies and occasionally something else. I watch Castle now and then it can be funny. I have disc sets of some of my old favorites (including All Creatures, Jeeves and Wooster and several of older Spy/Fy programs).

I think my favorite PBS programming now tends to be the music shows (although during the fund raising shows they can get annoying with the, "if you liked that get the whole program by sending us $100 a month" or something, LOL).

message 242: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale I hate the way that channel went from a grammatically proper spelling of "Sci-Fi" to the the grammatical equivalent of nails on chalkboard"Sy-Fy." Disgusting. The programming quality went "To Hell in a handbasket" fast after that.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 652 comments True...then again it started downhill when it sold years ago.

message 244: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Sold? Huh? When?

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 652 comments I think it was '94 that Viacom bought it out. Before that Paramount had put up money for it to start and run. Back in the early days the programming was a little more "nerd" oriented I guess you'd say.

I lost interest about the time MST3K noes dived I guess, LOL.

message 246: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale The quality didn't nose dive until AFTER the respelling and that was a lot more recent than '94... .

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 652 comments I guess. Back when...there were programs like a talk show with Harlen Ellison discussing science fiction.
