Leonie (leonierogers) Hi guys, just thought I'd run a few questions by you all. What do you think about illustrations, animations, chapter headers and interactive features in eBooks? Are they things you've experienced? Are they things you'd like? Would your eReader cope with them? Would you, or do you, like them?

Gisbelle | 25787 comments I love chapter headers in eBooks. Most eBooks now have chapter headers and I think they make the books more attractive.

As for illustrations, I don't think they are that important. Illustrations might be great for some horror fictions (I love them in Zom-B) and middle grade fictions, but not for romance.

Leonie (leonierogers) How detailed do you like the chapter headers, Gisbelle? I'm interested for a couple of reasons - there seems to be a bit of a move toward quite a lot of added features for some types of eBooks, and being a bit of a purist, I'm personally struggling with the idea of animations...

Gisbelle | 25787 comments I think just something simple for chapter headers. I'll find some and post in a minutes for you to see :)

Leonie (leonierogers) Thanks for that Giselle. It's a nice one, actually. Would you know if it would work on a normal eReader - I'd assume that an iPad, or Kindle Fire or other tablet would show it, but I'd wonder about the average eInk type eReader.

Gisbelle | 25787 comments I'm not sure hon since I've only used iPad and Kindle. I guess it might be a little problem. Yes, that's an iPad. I tried and opened the file in my computer and it didn't look as nice.

Leonie (leonierogers) Thanks for your comments, Giselle, it's a bit of a quandary, really, as there is a bit of a push in some places to make eBooks more interactive.

Gisbelle | 25787 comments I think this one is also nice

But I love the first one a little bit more because of the color. This one, however, is simpler.

Leonie (leonierogers) Yes, this one is very nice and does the job, even if it's not fancy.

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Generally I think the book itself is the most important thing to focus on. The other components such as covers and layout are just icing on the cake. Books with beautiful covers may attract more readers, but if they are not well-written, it will lead to low rating and bad reviews.
