SOLVED. Heroine shoots man raping her roommate - he happens to have mob connections [s]

The book I am looking for was published within the last year I do believe. I think it would be in the new adult or contemporary fiction genre.

The synopsis was similar to this:

The heroine comes home to her roommate being raped. She shoots the guy. The guy ended up having mob affiliations so they went on the run.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
