This book is about.. 3 young children, Violet - a 14 year old, Claus - a 12 year old and Sunny - an infant who became orphans.
Violet was great at inventing stuff
Claus was great at knowledge and he was very smart.
Sunny's teeth were very strong and in the end she became a great cook.
but anyway.. During the whole series..
first u meet Count Olaf, their first guardian who only accepted to take care of them because they had a great fortune (money) so throughout the rest of the series he dusguises himself and does so much to try and get a hold of the children for their money.
Count Olaf isn't the most pleasing person he is rude, mean and don't know hhow anyone could've handled him if he was real.
Great book though and I hope people enjoy reading it :)

I admit that harsh reality is revealed in these books and in real life answer of every puzzle is not available but it's a book ! I learned many things from it and don't regret reading it but children needs hope that there's also goodness in this world. It's not always bad. A closure of some sort. The real reason of each event at least.

im up to the eighth book and want to read more!

Rhetorical devices such as foreshadowing are being used in this book. An obvious use of this is the very last picture in the book. It shows a building with a light pole looking thing off to the left, hat pole has a snake wrapped around it, which is on the cover of the second book. Another one would be where Snicket talks about a island off somewhere where you are forbidden to take fruit from the trees, then in the end of the book they are on the island and they have to eat the fruit, which is considered "Self-Exile." An example of metaphor would be on page 73, "His eyes were shiny ad bright." Motive is showed in this book because Count Olaf burns down their house and kills the parents so that he can have their fortune.
Over all I think this was a very good book. I'm able to understand it well and I would definitely recommend this series to anyone.
