Provide three lines from the book that you think are particularly important. (Orlando and David did this with Fahrenheit 451 when we chose quotes to place around the room.)

They could be lines that revealed the book's theme, or a character's true feelings, or a character's motivation for a major action, or lines that you feel represented or announced a major turning point in the book.

Write each line, followed by an explanation of why you think the line is important or meaningful.

Sojourner | 23 comments "War is always, in all ways, appalling."
This line is important because provides a compelling moral to the story at first glance, telling this book will be about war.
"Some men came threw combat unscratched. Most did not. These men were somehow different from other men. They were said to have soldier's heart."
This line from the text is very meaningful because it provides us with some important information about how the theme will be set in the book. It also gives us a title that goes with the main character.
"Charley couldn't join where they knew him."
This line from the text probably means that Charley will have to seek elsewhere to join the army. Causing him to go on a bigger journey.

Arta | 6 comments “It has always been my belief that a pet owner has a special responsibility to do everything that can be done to make the pet's life as fulfilling and peaceful as possible.”

I think thats the only interesting quote because this is mainly about how he was found and treated. I found it interesting because for that quote because you see it from a dog owner point of view and what their opinion about owning a dog is.

Eric Rodriguez | 20 comments In my book "American Victory" by Henry Cejudo, there are lines from the book that are very meaningful and that expresses how he feels. The lines said "I remember bars. Giant black bars. Everywhere, bars. I was born in a city of blue skies and sunshine, and what i remember most are the bars." That text explains how Henry viewed his surroundings. He felt like he has been in a jail all his life, and with what his family had, it couldn't pull him out of what he felt jailed in. Another quote explaining it said "I don't remember the cool breeze or the warm green grass. I remember the black bars covering the windows and front doors, black bars surrounding the playgrounds, black bars even twisted over the soda and candy machines." I think that quote is a metaphorical expression for saying that he felt trapped in a life style of being poor, and he compared it to being in a jail. Those are the lines that explain how Henry Cejudo felt when growing up.

Drew | 16 comments "Daedalus is the world greatest inventor."
This line shows why Percy and his friends need to find Daedalus before the titan lords army does.
"Getting something and having the wits to use it ... those are Two different things."
This line has wisdom that Percy and his friends need to remember in order to complete their quest.
"Run while you can, Cyclops,"
This line shows the hundred-handed is too scared to fight.

message 6: by Shianne (new)

Shianne Perez | 15 comments "I love you, Savannah, and I always will,"

This line is important because this shows that John's feelings for Savannah will never change no matter what .

"I know she loves me, but she's never loved me the way she loved you."

This line is important because Tim realizes that Savannah loves him but not as much as she loves John.

"Im saying don't forget Savannah if anything happens to me. And promise that you'll always treasure her the same way I do."

This line is important because Tim is telling John not to forget about Savannah because if he dies he still wants her to be as happy as she was with Tim with John.

message 7: by Jake (new)

Jake Dropkin | 14 comments Montag regards his hands as infected from stealing the book and describes how the “poison works its way into the rest of his body.” Montag uses the word “poison” to refer to his strong sense of guilt and wrongdoing. Later, the novel incorporates a reference to Shakespeare, as Montag compulsively washes his hands at the fire station in an attempt to cleanse his guilt. His feeling they are “gloved in blood” is a clear reference to Lady Macbeth. Montag’s hands function as a symbol of defiance and thirst for truth.

message 8: by Charisma (new)

Charisma Ayers | 18 comments The sentences how they're written in the book.
1. "Everyday I tell myself something gonna
happen, something like on TV I'm gonna break
through or somebody gonna break through to me
—I'm gonna learn, catch up, be normal, change my seat to the front of the class. But again, it has
not been that day"
This sentence is important because, it's really giving the reader an insight to the life the main character struggles with. We get to really feel the emotion and the inner thoughts of Clarieece, and read her inner battle of not really knowing how to read.
We also get history of how she is in school, and her comfort level. You can infer her self esteem state as well. This reveals the characters true feelings.
2. "I should be in the
eleventh grade, getting ready to go into the twelf
grade so I can gone 'n graduate. But I'm not. I'm
in the ninfe grade"
This line is important because, the reader is now getting into the mind of this character, and actually seeing ( well, reading ) how advanced or not advanced Clareece is in school, and how she feels about her grade and education level. This is important to the story because it's part of who she is. It also gives background info of this girl. Now i know she wishes she was smarter. This kind of reveals the theme.
3."You thinkin' while I'm talkin' to you?"
I chose this line because it's a characters motivation for major action. Her mother. It shows me the struggle that the characters living aka her personal life which is like the main factor to why everything's going bad in her life. Why basically everything in this book happens.
