Provide three lines from the book that you think are particularly important. (Orlando and David did this with Fahrenheit 451 when we chose quotes to place around the room.)

They could be lines that revealed the book's theme, or a character's true feelings, or a character's motivation for a major action, or lines that you feel represented or announced a major turning point in the book.

Write each line, followed by an explanation of why you think the line is important or meaningful.

"I only like you as a friend. It`s kind of weird to be so blunt, but I can`t waste any more time." This shows how much she really loves Sam more than Kevin. That Kevin was just a friend who Blake forced her to date.
"I was telling him I had no idea how he could have gotten out, he`s usually so very well behaved." This shows that even though Blake was upset with Avery she still loved her to back her up when she was not their. (They are talking about Avery`s dog.)
"You know what I mean," she says."About how you kissed Sam." This was important because it ruined Avery and Blake`s relationship.

message 3: by Brian (new)

Brian Rosario | 36 comments 1. "Chris Jericho is the new world heavyweight champion", screamed Jim Ross. This is the line of the crowd reaction to Jericho's win.
2. "he wins again king, he is now the new heavyweight champion and the WWE champion thus making him the first ever undisputed champion in WWE history. This is showing how Jericho won the two championships in one night.
3. "the crowd was amazing that night, I was so surprised that the crowd loved me". This shows Chris Jericho's reaction to winning that night.

message 4: by Julien (new)

Julien | 24 comments "How screwed am I?" This becomes sort of the protagonists catchphrase, ever since he died, things always seem to be going from bad to worse for him.

"When the only card you've got left to play is smart ass remarks, you tend to play that card a lot." As the main character is dead, and has no sense of purpose anymore, he usually responds with a heartless, yet funny remark to anything that annoys him or confuses him.

"I wasn't invincible. Turns out I was just unkillable." This is pretty much where the book gets its title from, the character finds that the rat didn't give him any new powers or abilities, he only received a deadline to get revenge before his body broke down completely.

message 5: by Miguel (new)

Miguel | 22 comments " I dont trust you"
This shoes that in this part of the book there having trust issues with eachother.
"Get away from me dont talk to me now"
This is also showing that she honetly doesnt want to be around certain people and is realsizing who is real.
" your fake now i notice it"
This shows that being friends with people there can be real or fake friends and she finally realizies who is the fake person that she is being around.

Luke Marable | 19 comments In my book, House of Hades, I can't really sum all that up in a few quotes. Plus it's like 8 books into the series so I would have to explain all the previous books

message 7: by Imani (new)

Imani | 25 comments In my book Romeo and Juliet...

From ancient grudge break to new mutiny."
This shows that before you even open to start the play you know that there is a lot of tension between to families.

"From forth the fatal loins of these two foes."
This shows that the families have so much of a grudge that people that are born into one of the families are just destine to hate the other.

"The fearful passage of their death-marked love."
This shows that in the story there is going to be a romance poetry destine to be together.

message 8: by Ronan (new)

Ronan | 19 comments In my book A Clash of Kings:

"'The things I do for love,' he murmured softly as he tossed him out kicking into empty air." This is from Bran's dream as he begins to remember who attempted to kill him in the previous book.

"...the steel of his gorget parted like cheesecloth beneath the shadow of a blade that was not there." This quote describes the death of Renly Baratheon, which is a major event in the story.

"It's not Torrhen's Square I mean to take." This quote is important because it implies that Theon Greyjoy will attempt to conquer Winterfell where he was raised for many years.

message 9: by Liam (new)

Liam | 27 comments This would be akward to complete with only reading about 30 pages of a book, so I shall write of my prevous book.
Animal Farm By George Orwell

"The animals agreed that the pigs should get the apples and milk."
This is the start of the slippery slope in the novella. They rebelled on the idea of equality but they deiced that the pigs should get special privileges because of there intelligence. This tells the pigs that the animals have already began to forget the commandments by which they created the farm. This is a recipe for abuse by the pigs.

"The dogs chased after snowball"
This is the first example of violence after the overthrow of the owner. This is, in my opinion, the single most important moment of the book. This shows how gutsy and power hungry the pigs have become.

"All animals are equal, though some are more equal then others"
This distils the idea of totalitarianism and dictatorship in one line, the ruling class, slowly giving themselves more power.

Monica | 22 comments I'm currently reading The Lighting Thief by Rick Riordan and three insightful quotes I think are:

"Look, I didn't want to be a halfblood"
Its the first line in the book and I think its meaningful because it shows how he feels about the whole situation in the beginning. He starts of not wanting to be who he is and admitting to envying all those who can believe it's fake. As the story goes along he grows and you see change.

"Then the weirdest thing happened. Her eyes began to glow like barbecue coals."
This is significant because it's his first real encounter with the greek mythology, its really the moment that changes his whole life and brings him into the story, into camp half blood.

"I was sitting on a deck chair on a huge porch gazing across a meadow at green hills in the distance. The breeze smelled like strawberries."
This is percy's first real concious moment in Camp Half-blood so its his first interpretation, I'm using these quotes because im not so far in the book but It's a few moments that show how he felt and how it began, and i guess we'll find out how it continues.

message 11: by Nichollas (new)

Nichollas Rampulla | 17 comments Since I am reading Fahrenheit 451 (warning I read way ahead of the class so there are spoilers).
"A great earthquake had come with fire and leveled the house and Mildred was under there somewhere and his entire life there and he could not move." He just burnt his own house and with it his entier old life burnt with it.
"Thinking back later he could never decide whether the hands or Beatty's reaction to the hands gave him the final push to murder." This is said right before he decides to kill Beatty
"Montag caught it with a bloom of fire a single wondrous blossom that curled and in petals of yellow and blue and orange about the metal dog, clad it in a now covering as it slammed into." This is important since he is exercise a personal demon.

message 12: by Web (new)

Web | 10 comments I'm reading Hades Houses by Rick Riordan

"Percy felt homesick for the swamp" This is important because it shows how dramatically their situation has changed.
"losing her sight had been bad enough." This shows just how much that they are having to go through.
"If the sobbing ghoul was Bob's idea of help, Percey was pretty sure that he didn't want it." This shows that while this book is serious it is also light hearted at parts.

Alvin | 18 comments I'm reading ''Harry Potter and the goblet of fire'' by J.K Rowling. Some lines that I think are important are, ''secrets are best kept secret to your other secrets'' along with the other quote, ''Destiny Travels with you. Whenever you go it will follow and never leave your side'', proceeded by ''magic is just a tool in the shed''. I think theses quotes are important because I feel as if they foreshadow events. In this case though they could be foreshadowing certain spells. If not then the quotes could be used as advice.

message 14: by Willem (new)

Willem | 21 comments Reading War of the Werelords by [author:Curtis Jobling|340054 , which takes place in a fantasy continent of Lyssia, where each noble house can shift shape into a particular animal.
1) "you're only a wee one, little staglord", said High Lord Oba,"but your antlers will still make a fine trophy! My first therian kill in Lyssia. The first of many..."
~This quote shows the ferocity and bloodlust of the Basian invaders, the main protagonists, as High Lord Oba prepares to kill a small boy, Milo.

2)"he had been a slaver in the employ of Count Kesslar, the goatloard, a villain in every sense of the word. But when he had encountered Drew Ferran, the young Wolf of Westland had had a profound impact on him-and not just because he'd lost ab eye in a fight with the lycanthrope. He had gained so much more once they became allies: pride, self-worth, and a true friend."
This quote actually tells u s a number of things. It shows us that Drew seems to be an important character, as he is being mentioned in a noble-ish light. Another thing that we can infer is that this Drew character has a profound effect on people, and in a good way, at that. Anyone who can persuade an evil slaver's henchman to side with him must be incredibly gifted in the art of persuasion.

Akahr Bussant | 16 comments I'm reading The sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan.

"I wanted to get in Luke's face and tell him off, but as usual, he knew just how to throw me off balance." This shows the rivalry between the main character and the antagonist.

"The magical borders were failing because Thalia's tree was dying. Someone had poisoned it." This is the main conflict of the book, how to revive the tree.

"I'll come rescue you I promise, where are you? The sea of monsters, of course!" This is another conflict of the book, to save Grover, the main character friend.

message 16: by Max (new)

Max Warner | 19 comments "This disrupter of seasons was a new girl in school named Maureen Peal. A high-yellow dream child with long brown hair braided into two lynch ropes that hung down her back. She was rich, at least by our standards, as rich as the richest of white girls, swaddled in comfort and care. The quality of her clothes threatened to derange Frieda and me. " This quote is essential because it introduces the jealousy into the text.

"Along with the idea of romantic love, she was introduced to another – physical beauty. Probably the most destructive idea in the history of human thought. Both originated in envy, thrived in insecurity, and ended in disillusion."

This quote is significant because it tries to incorporate a definition for the undefined BEAUTY.

"Being a minority in both caste and class, we moved about anyway on the hem of life, struggling to consolidate our weaknesses and hang on, or to creep singly up into the major folds of the garment."

This quote means a lot because it shows how Pecola feels about her race and how it sets her back.

message 17: by Bruce (new)

Bruce Turley | 17 comments The book I'm reading Legend of the Golden Witch Legend of the Golden Witch (Umineko no Naku Koro ni #1) by 07th Expansion

One important line is is "Please, confirm with the wax seal.

About the hiding place of the gold, Kinzo-sama already publicly announced it at the inscription under my portrait. The conditions are equal to all the people who can read the inscription. If the gold is disclosed, I will return everything. With that, please, enjoy to the fullest your battle of wits with Kinzo-sama."

This quote was in the first letter Beatrice sent. This is important because, it pretty much explains the entire situation they are in. It has all the proof they need to know this is serious with the information of the Head Ring.

The second important line is "Praise my name."

This quote can be found in the second letter Beatrice sent out after the deaths. This is important because, it explains Beatrice's personality before you even see her in the story.

The third important line is "At the tenth twilight, the journey shall end and you should reach the village of gold."

This line can be found on the Epitaph on the Portrait. This is important because, it explains the disappearance of the last four survivors and it explains Beatrice's and Eva's killing patterns.

cordelllane n summors (summorscl) | 19 comments I'm readingThe Witch of Blackbird Pond

They could be lines that revealed the book's theme, or a character's true feelings, or a character's motivation for a major action, or lines that you feel represented or announced a major turning point in the book.

Write each line, followed by an explanation of why you think the line is important or meaningful.

1) “Would there be room in the boat for me to ride to shore with you?” she begged. “I know it’s silly, but there is America so close to me for the first time in my life – I can’t bear not to set my foot upon it!”
“What a child you are, Kit,” smiled Mrs. Eaton. “Sometimes ‘tis hard to believe you are sixteen.”

Reason:This show a trait of katherine of how she lets her emotion rule her, which can be dangerous.

2)At the second tug an onion shoot came too, and glancing to see if Judith had noticed, she guiltily thrust the tiny root back into the earth and patted it firm. Bother the things, she would have to keep her mind on them! All at once tears of self-pity brimmed her eyes. What was she doing here anyway, Sir Francis Tyler’s granddaughter, squatting in an onion patch?

Reason:Show how katherine hate the backbracking labors, and how see looks an upper class doing it.

3)She pulled up the hood of her scarlet cloak and turned away. Embarrassment was a new sensation for Kit. No one on the island had ever presumed to stare like that at Sir Francis Tyler’s granddaughter

Reason:In Weathersfield she not an upperclass so she is treat as an out cast, which is never felt at home on the Caribbean islands.
