I think it sounds like an interesting concept, Saranar! Star Wars is definitely big enough for some diversity of the kind you want. Perhaps the Skynet idea could be limited somewhat; the entire Galaxy doesn't have to be at stake every time, right? :P Also, if we introduce something very radical and highly effective, like a Skynet Villain, it might upset the precarious balance in Star Wars. Things that we fans are well used to could become obsolete at a stroke. Now, that might not be bad in itself, change can be fun! But it should be handled with care. We could think of it like the death of a beloved Star Wars character, and the implications of that.

Amber Martingale | 264 comments That's been tried four times, each with a serious backlash, I think, Petter. 1st was Chewie, second was Anakin Solo and the third death was Mara Jade and the fourth was Cadeus/Jacen Solo.

Yeah, that's sort of true, Amber. I can't say I agree 100% though. Sometimes, killing off a character (or any well established aspect of a fictional universe) can help move the story forward. It depends on who or what comes to an end and how it's done. Inevitably many of us fans will cry our eyes out when our favorite characters meet their ends, especially if it's for no good reason.

Amber Martingale | 264 comments Chewie and Anakin died as heroes during a war, but Mara was murdered by someone who IMO is a coward even by the standards of a Sith Lord and that coward got his from his twin sister in lightsaber combat the way their aunt Mara SHOULD have gone out, Petter.

Petter Avén | 96 comments I absolutely agree with you 100%, Amber, and I so wish it had turned out that way. The consolation about a "shared universe" is that we can all decide what we want in "our" Star Wars. With so many contradictions we really have to pick and choose. I think "your" Star Wars and "mine" would be very similar in this particular regard, Amber. It's a great comfort for me that you feel the way I do about Mara Jade. It's a pity she couldn't have lived out her life in peace like she so richly deserved.

Amber Martingale | 264 comments She didn't just deserve it, Petter...she NEEDED it. ;) And thank you for the compliment.

Zach | 4 comments If there was a Skynet vs. Starwars on a galaxy wide scale the story would be short because almost everything in Star Wars is computer or driod controlled.

Amber Martingale | 264 comments Zach's got a point... .

Petter Avén | 96 comments In one sense Star Wars is fragile. Apply an every so small dose of Common Sense or a Bright Idea at the right place, and that entire universe would collapse upon itself, or force Star Wars to evolve into something radically different. Skynet might do that.

But in another sense Star Wars is extremely resilient to change. By now there is so much material with the Star Wars brand that we can pick and choose what we want from it in "our own" Star Wars. Too much doesn't fit together anyway, so we have to disregard a lot of it if we want a coherent universe that fits our personal tastes.

No, I haven't seen the one you're describing, Laurence, but I saw a similar one for the game that has Darth Malgus, Ven Zallow and Satele Shan in it.
