The Hobbit or LOTR?

Which did you enjoy most? To this day, The Hobbit is my favorite Tolkien book!

I agree, I enjoyed the hobbit much more... second favorite would probably be the fellowship of the ring.

LOTR. It's more of an epic. I love the Hobbit too but it's definitely a different style, a more frank (and almost comical in parts) view of the characters, but I don't think it deals with the issue of right and wrong quite as much as LOTR does. It's been a while since I read it though. They're both brilliant stories.

Martine Good point! It's true that the dilemma between right and wrong is not really present in the Hobbit. Just like the metaphore with industralisation of w ...more

The hobbit really is a good book, but i enjoyed LOTR more, partially because i can sense more struggle and emotion through Frodo than bilb

LOTR, It has more emotional depth. The hobbit is a fun exciting story, a there and back again but Frodo never really comes back, at least his heart doesnt... He goes through so much, he cannot be the same

The Hobbit is incomplete, the ending hurried. Tolkien should have written a lengthy battle scene at the end, the Battle of the Five Armies edition. That said, my favourite book is The Two Towers.

The Lord of the Rings. The Hobbit is a good story, but it doesn't go as deep as The Lord of the Rings.
