Yay! I've been meaning to read this forever.

message 3: by Lys (new) - rated it 3 stars

Lys (lysrowan) Gwenn says it is a good series, so I have been too. =D
I need it for a challenge too. Something with "tion" that is longer than 300 pages - check!

message 4: by Lys (new) - rated it 3 stars

Lys (lysrowan) 26 chapters plus a short prologue and epilogue.

So...5 a day? or 6?

message 6: by Lys (last edited Oct 12, 2013 06:08PM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Lys (lysrowan) Either works for me.
And the prologue and epilogue are negligible. the prologue is seriously like 2 pages.
I may have accidentally read it while looking at the chapters. :D

Lol! I don't usually count those in anyway.

Works for me.

Aarati | 197 comments I've read this book like 5 or 6 times. I fall more in love with Lucas everytime. Wait till you reach Hawke's book; which happens to be the 10th book in the series.

Gwenn (idlecuriosity) i agree the wait for hawke's book took FOREVER.
i'll be along for the ride, i'm curious to see what people think.

I was actually told to read this series JUST for Hawke's book...

Gwenn (idlecuriosity) well, if you're gonna read the entire series, it should really be for Heart of Obsidian. cause Hawke's book was great, don't get me wrong. but HoO. goodness gracious. it was all that and a cherry on top :D

message 15: by Lys (new) - rated it 3 stars

Lys (lysrowan) haha.
Well, I will read the whole series.
Slowly, perhaps, but I will do it. :)
Maybe Sheri and Leigh will want to as well?

I am planning on reading the whole series.

Aarati | 197 comments Well if you ask me my favourites are Lucas, Judd, Riley(I love Riley), Andrew to some extent, Hawke(OMG Hawke. I cried like a baby during Hawke and Sienna's date, 'cause I was so damn jealous).

I still haven't read Heart of Obsidian. I had that book the very day it released but I could not make myself read it. It was too much. I know it sounds a little crazy bu damn, it felt like, if I read it, my whole worlds going to change. (I promise you I'm usually this crazy. Well, who am I kidding? Maybe I am. A little. But Nalini Singh's book does things to me.)

But all in all, I love this series. I hope you guys enjoy it too. :)

I got up through chapter four so far this morning. The world building is interesting - not what I was expecting at all. I love the changlings - though I'm a sucker for shapeshifters any time.

Gwenn (idlecuriosity) The world building is definitely something I loved about the series. The romances are nice, but how everything ties together as the series develops is something I really love

Through chapter 6 - I can already tell I'm going to love this book. I wanted so bad to keep reading, but I had to get to work...It's probably a good thing or I would have finished the book today :)

I like Lucas and Sascha. I have a feeling Sascha is more powerful than she knows. At this point I have to wonder (view spoiler).

Through chapter 12 - I am pretty much in love with the changeling pack. I am already looking forward to more of the books to find out more about them. I love the dynamics and the sense of pack.

And my suspicions of Sascha's mother are growing.

Gwenn (idlecuriosity) /whistles innocently whenever Sheri brings up Nikita

gwenn cannot do anything innocently.

i'm working on catching up with you sheri. I'm reading too many things at once.
be back soon. :)

Lol, you know I was wondering, but I don't know Gwenn that well...so I gave her the benefit of the doubt.

Gwenn (idlecuriosity) Thank you Sheri. /You/ are very nice.
Nikita is a very interesting character. I think she would agree that neither good nor bad apply to her. After all, those terms are ambiguous, and thus useless to increase profit margins.
:D I love her. But she doesn't allow herself to be nice. Maybe that's why I love her.

<3 you too Lys.

you are far too weavery my dear. :P
I LoVe (happy shiny rainbows!) you too.

message 27: by Lys (new) - rated it 3 stars

Lys (lysrowan) I finished today's section.

I really like it. It seems to be a lot more developed than most paranormal romance I've read. We'll see if that holds true. But it's certainly not just erotica/porn. Not that those parts aren't nice. :D

The world-building is awesome. I'm intrigued. I like it so far, and I can't wait to see it further developed. At this point the villain seems obvious. I am hoping that's not the case. I hate obvious non-obvious villains (as in, ones who aren't /trying/ to be obvious).

The cubs were adorable. I literally "aww"ed while sitting at my computer.
I like the pack.

I felt very bad for Sascha early on. He does seem to be trying to get her killed. He must know that. It kinda makes him a big old jerk! On the other hand, as things develop, I feel less bad for her. Yes, she's unravelling, but there's comes a point when you deal, I suppose. I am excited for her foray into the Net.

I am happy today didn't end with Chapter 11. I wouldn't have been able to contain myself. I was SOOOO mad at her. And then relieved. :D

That could be, too. Guess we'll find out :)

Gwenn or anyone else who has read this...do normal humans know about the changelings and the Psy, or are their races secret?

Gwenn (idlecuriosity) all 3 races know about each other. there are some books later on that have humans paired with one or the other. I don't think the races have been secret for a while now. When the Psy went silent 100 years ago, humans knew about the psy and they all sorta worked together. It is a plot thing that comes up later. it's one of my favorite plot things.

they talk about a changling territory war, and i'm not sure what the humans that aren't affiliated with packs know about that. nor do i remember when it was supposed to have happened. my guess would be before the psy went silent though.

message 32: by Sheri, Bookworm (new) - rated it 4 stars

Sheri | 13547 comments Mod
Thanks. That's kind of what I was thinking, but since it hasn't mentioned much about humans, other those that are mated to changelings, I wasn't sure.

Aarati | 197 comments There are a couple of anthologies where the Dark River leopards have mated with humans. You can read those. Burning Up (Includes Iron Seas, #0.5; Children of the Sea, #3.5; Psy-Changeling #0.6) by Angela Knight The short story Whisper of Sin , The Magical Christmas Cat (Christmas Heat) (Breeds, #17) by Lora Leigh The short story Stroke of Enticement .
Books 6 and 7 are mating between a human and a Psy.

So basically humans, psy and changelings are a triumvirate. In the coming books we do see a lot more humans.

Lys (lysrowan) My library has all the in between stories but none of the actual books (until much later in the series.) happily Gwenn loaned them to me. :)
I might tea the in between ones this weekend.

I am so jealous y'all reading without me. I still haven't finished Iron Traitor. I miss y'all. I am struggling with pain management. PT made me hurt where I wasn't hurting before. Hope that gets better soon. I hope to be able to use my arm soon.

My and Alyssia both want to read the rest of the series, but if you want to read with us I don't mind waiting for you to catch up. I think you would love this book.

I don't have much to add after today's reading...except that Lucas is totally hot. And Enrique is really creepy. Nikita is still on my suspect list for messing with Sascha's head, but Enrique has moved way ahead of her.

Oh and I guess the Psy are all kinds of creepy now. (view spoiler)

Gwenn (idlecuriosity) The psy are all kinds of creepy <3
I love them. they're not /all/ all kinds of creepy.
just the awesome ones.

Gwenn (idlecuriosity) Good luck and quick healing with the PT Leigh. :)

Toni | 83 comments Okay ladies, I love Nalini Singh' s writing and am a huge fan of her Guild Hunter Series. Those are automatic dwnlds for me. But i have never read her Psi-Changeling series and it looks like there's a lot of them. So should i check them out then? Are they stand alones or do I need to start from the very beginning? Thoughts?

Gwenn (idlecuriosity) They are chronological, so you should start with Slave to Sensation. It is sorta like the demon hunter series, in that it is a high tech world withsupernaturals deeply imbedded in the society. The supernaturals in psi_changling are psionics and shapeshifters. I like them them quite a lot.

I forgot all about pbs. Thank you. I even have a few credits, so if I find one I MUST own, I'll order it.
I've been trying to thin the bookshelves though.

I don't mind waiting. We could go to something else that Leigh wasn't as interested in.
I know we had some Netgalley interesects?
Something.

I adore the creepiness of the Psy. That serial-killing is a product of the Silence and condoned because in some cases it is beneficial to do so - awesome. The Psy are much more interesting now. :D

What do you want to tackle next?
