Has anyone read any of Caine's short stories from the anthologies or from her website? Are any of them part of her series? Let's talk about it. =D

Kathryn (kathry) I've read Caine's short stories on her website. I enjoyed the Warden stories the most. There are also stories about Amelie and Sam from the Morganville vamps.

Some of the warden stories are almost necessary, especially Embers. I think it's between books 5 and 6? Has anyone else read Embers? I loved the extra insight into Jonathan and David. Extremely sad story though.

And I think some of the anthology stories are on the website too. But I know I'm missing some. There's supposed to be a story about Eve from Morganville vamps somewhere. I'm not sure what else.

Shanon (boban) I think Embers was a Must-Read too. I can't imagine what my feelings for him would have been throughout the last couple books with out that - I probably would have hated him.

I haven't read the Morganville Vamp stories yet. I didn't know about them until I was caught up. I'm starting Carpe Corpus next - are any of the stories really good/important before I jump in?

I love that Caine gives us her short stories for free. I also like the most of them are not necessary to the story line at all - if you don't read them you're not missing out on any major plot points.

Kathryn (kathry) Yeah, ditto on hating him without reading Embers. I loved it, nearly made me cry, and short stories hardly ever affect me like that.

I don't consider Amelie's story to be all that important. Sam's story is much more interesting, but not required. A story about Claire and Shane is on the website too (I forgot about, had to check) called Lunch Date and it's fun but also not necessary.

Kathryn (kathry) Thanks Darkheart! But ahhh, that's so many!!! I've actually read some of the short stories in some of these books but at the time I wasn't reading Caine's stuff so I skipped her stories. I'll have to go back and make sure that I didn't miss anything that wasn't on the website. Thanks!

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 8 comments Yeah, I've only got Many Bloody Returns - Tales of Birthdays with Bite and The Mammoth Book of Paranormal Romance out of that lot, but I've got Strange Brew and The Eternal Kiss 12 Vampire Tales of Blood and Desire on my list of books to buy when they're released next month.

And I know what you mean about having to go back to anthologies later on once you've strted reading an author. =)

Yeah thanks Darkheart! Oh I definitely hate you have read a series and find out later that there were short stories that were supposed to go in between the books and were important to the story line. I also hate how authors like Laurell K. Hamilton will just take chapters from their upcoming book and use them for their short story in an anthology. Slackers!

She's also in this one. It's a charity anthology for the Louisianna libraries. It's a Sci-fi story which is not her usual vein too.

Kathryn (kathry) Wow, thanks Gloria. It has 5 "5-stars". Pretty good for an anthology!
