Newbie startup question: selling programming on a concept

We are about to embark on making online library catalogs available to small customers who need something simple and low (or no) cost. I am not a programmer I offer system support to librarians.

Here is a sample site featuring access to a user catalog:

Given a search return that gives
Title
Author
ISBN
...etc.

I envision a system providing in frames:
Other titles by author
Reviews
Cover illustrations
Social networking connections...etc.

QUESTION: Is there an example of Goodreads data being used in that way, and a piece of code to show the code that drives it? For example given a record, show "other tiles by the same author"

This has to be an illustration to sell programming on the idea, I am not likely to understand your reply!

I'm not sure what you're asking. It's worth pointing out, our public api doesn't allow commercial use without explicit permission from Goodreads.
