it's funny - had i seen this question after i read book 2 the first time i would have said ....sorta. you can skim through it and make it to the finale...but the 2nd time that i read it in preparation for Reached, i think that i realized that there was quite a bit that i missed, and there's value in Crossed. i hope that you give it a try - it's got value and there's a good continuation of the story with hints to things that we learn about in book 3.

As literally nothing happens in the 2nd book, you could probably give it a miss.
The 2nd book IS the worst out of the trilogy.....but don't expect too much from Reached either.

I actually liked the 3rd book the best. But when I read the 2nd one, I was like not even half paying attention to it because it was so bad... I don't know.. you could read it just to say you read all the books in the series, but other than that, I don't think the third book is worth your time.
