Frank Bukowski | 2 comments Hi
This is probably a really dumb question that you've been asked a million times before, but why does the cover image not appear on the book I've just added to Goodreads. I assumed when I added the book, with the Amazon ASIN number, that it would pull through the cover image automatically. Yet lots of random posts on here about people having to upload the images manually themselves, or get 'librarians' to do it. Is that really the case? Sounds a bit Heath Robinson. If someone could advise I'd be grateful.
Cheers
Frank

Z-squared | 8575 comments There's no automatic cover upload. I'm sure there are a variety of historical and technical reasons for this. Anyone can add a cover but only to entries they create and only at the time of creation. After that, authors can upload covers to their books, but only if they are adding covers to book editions that do not already have a cover attached. (And I think they have to have claimed their author profile before hand to do that.) After that, only librarians can mess with covers, mostly because librarians know how to add/remove covers in accordance with Goodreads policies.

So as the author, you should be able to add the cover. But just to be efficient, I went ahead and grabbed it from Amazon for you and uploaded it. FYI, you had the ASIN in the ISBN13 field, which means Goodreads users couldn't click through directly to Amazon to buy your book. Now they should be able to.

Frank Bukowski | 2 comments Hey Z-squared, thanks for the helpful reply, I really appreciate you taking the trouble. Thanks also for uploading the cover from Amazon, and fixing the wrong-field ASIN. In your debt. Cheers :-)
