Why does everyone hate Piper?

I keep hearing people say that they hate piper… but why? I mean, she's not my favorite character, but I can still admire her.

Idk she's just not Annabeth I guess. I don't really like her or Jason.
Is there a specific reason why, or is it just because you feel like there's a rivalry for whose better?
I love piper and if I had to be one of the seven she would take second place ( she would only lose because of Annebeth) and her powers are awesome . I wish I had them it would be so cool to talk someone into giving me a free car. I also love Jason and don't understand the dislike of him because he seems like a great boyfriend. Its only natural for piper to be a little jealous of Reyna I mean she dosen't now exactly what they had together so chill with all the dislike
I think that Piper is awesome, personally, but I wish there was sort of a cross between her and Annabeth. I mean, Piper doesn't know when to stand up for herself, but Annabeth never backs down. She's mean even when she's nice! She sees her BF for the first time in forever, after constantly searching for him, when it's not his fault he left, and what does she do? She judo flips him. Isn't there some sort of happy medium? This situation kind of applies to me as well. I mean, I don't really want to be all happy go lucky goody two shoes, and I like trading snarky remarks, but I feel like I just want to be nice sometimes. However, after insulting someone, they seem weirded out if you try to be nice to them. Hmm...

I love Piper. Because she's the most humblr of them all. Sure, she has her faults but everyone does. And she's the most relatable. And yeah she's jealous and insecure because she's a teenage girl. She's not snobby like most of the other Aprohite kids.
But i can say for certain that if this were a guy with her insecurities everyone would be all over him calling him "precious" and "baby" and so on.
It's not fair but that's how it is.
Piper is fucktastic and the haters can just get out.
Well okay, I respect your opinion. You hate her. Fine. But if you can't back it up with reasons as to why, then it's pretty pointless. I mean saying "I hate her cuz she's dumb" does;t explain your point.
Okay I understand. And my fault for saying that. i just assumed you meant she was dumb. And everyone is entitles to their own opinion. It's fine. You hate her, I love her. But I don't think that she's nagging or obsessive. A bit jealous? yes.
But she doesn't always wanna be with him 24/7 and yeah she thinks about him from time to time because she likes him. I would to.
I love piper but she just needs to get a backbone and stop being all about Jason. Learn how to use a knife or something.
I don't hate Piper, she's just not my favorite. I'm not a big fan of passive-aggressive personalities. She says she doesn't want attention, tries to play down her beauty, but gets pouty because she's not being paid attention to. She constantly says how she feels worthless but does nothing really (what I've read so far) to increase her ability. i.e. training with weapons, learn more about the ship, etc. She has so much potential but the envy she feels for the others muddies her character. She's got warrior blood in her. She's as strong as the rest of them; she just needs to realize it. If she's going to be a girlie girl, a daughter of Aphrodite, fine, I can accept that...just pick a personality.

Good! :D That's why I clarified by saying from what I read so far. I would like to see her character grow and be a more proactive, to the forefront, character. The character has it all there to be great.
I like Piper. She is pretty awesome.
in the house of hades, she gets more confident in herself and learning how to fight with hazel. I think people will start to like her if they don't alreay from house of hades. personally i never hated her. she was just...normal but i never agreed that she talked about jason a lot. to me it was the same as annabeth talking about percy but her (second) fight wih khione was BA
i think people hate piper because she likes Jason and as u all know Jason is a 'go by the rules boy' unlike Percy Jackson and when people like Percy, Jason is competition to them :) oh and she likes Jason better then Percy and even went as far as to say that Percy is very childish and that he needs Annabeth to keep him mature that is why people wouldn't mind if piper and Jason died.
i personally hate piper

And yeah I love Piper. To say in Leo's words- She is THE Beauty Queen! People might think that she's selfish and possessive of Jason- but actually she got out of that towards the end of Mark of Athena during the nymphaeum scene when she almost sacrificed to the nymphs WILLINGLY (and during the spilling-fresh-produce-over-Hercules scene)! Even the nymphs admitted that she has a good nature. She's one of those demigods who's learning from her pasts and developing from within. People might think she's powerless, but hell no she's Not. Even if she hasn't learned swordsplay (she's seriously getting wicked in it) she's powerful enough with her charmspeak. I mean, She made FESTUS Alive with that power!! And oh come on Why do people hate it when girls get jealous over boyfriend possessiveness?? Get over it dudes- because Every freaking girlfriend is like that! It's the Universal truth- not one of Piper's flaws.I really wanna go more (for Each Character of the Prophecy of Seven in fact.) but I'm getting tired of convincing people that they're likable and not some overdramatic teens. And I also don't wanna pressurize on anyone to like any character- but I dare you find any mistake in my favor points of Piper. At least just ponder about it for a second! And please don't think that Piper-lovers are bullying on you or something, it's just a discussion.
I also request people not to hate one another because of their opinions. It's just a discussion, not a bloody war :D.
I liked her in the first heroes of olympus book, but then she kind of deteriorated for me after that. I mean, I don't hate her now, but I don't like her as much as I used to and frankly don't care about her all that much anymore most of the time. I just don't like the fact that she is all about Jason this and Jason that. I remember that really bugged me when I was reading the book. I mean, in book 1 she was this cool chic who could charm speak people into doing whatever and was kinda strong even when she had her moments of weakness. And then Riordan just turned her into Jason's girlfriend. Just that. It was annoying.I haven;t really read House of Hades so I don't know if she changes but I really hope she goes back to being the Piper in book 1.
PS: I dont think its fair to compare her to Annabeth or Reyna. The gap between the two will always be huge and Piper will probably mostly come up short. She's good in her own way, and I like the fact that Riordan made her even a little different.
Piper is an amazing character she does have her faults like all the others. I feel like Riordan hasn't exposed her complete personality. I mean she hasn't made a major choice. We still don't know her very well. Unlike some of the others she still has a lot of development to undergo. I think all heroes reach there peek when they make their big "choice". Do u see what I mean

She's awesome and so is Jason, I like them so much more then Percy and Annabeth its not even funny.
What I don't like about Piper is that she sounds spoiled and that i think she doesn't support her relationship with Jason very much and she should appreciate that she has Jason and that Reyna doesn't. I actually think that Piper is more whinier than Annabeth. truth be told i used to like Piper because she was a strong person like annabeth and that she wasn't into gossip like Her siblings. sorry that was long.
I just don't like Annabeth or Percy, I was so bored with The Son Of Neptune while I was reading it.

WHAT!!! HOW CAN ANYONE HATE LEO OR BOB!!! Or Percy for that matter. That's kinda messed up. And sad. Real, real sad. Ah well, they have their reasons.
I read through a bit of the discussion on the previous page and I disagree with most of them. 1) Piper is obsessive with Jason and what he's thinking: I don't think so. Sure she says that once or twice (that I picked up, anyway) but it's not completely overwhelming like it seems to be to you guys. And it's not like other book characters in all other different series don't think about that either. Even people in everyday life probably think it. Even if it's unconsiously. (I don't mean knocked out on the floor, wanting to know what someone else is thinking, I mean without realising it)
2) Piper is super jealous of Reyna: I honestly think that super jealous is a little, just a little over the top. Think about it. Anyone with a boyfriend would be jealous of of someone else with a crush on their boyfriend that's super super obvious. Especially if at one time, he may have returned the crush. But that's not all. She fell in love with him but it turned out to be some made up past planted by Hera. Reyna actually knew him. Her good memories with Jason weren't put in her mind by a goddess. Jason remembers those memories with Reyna, but not the ones with Piper, because they didn't even happen. I'd be jealous too.
3) Someone said that Piper hates Camp Jupiter: I don't really believe that. I think that comes along with loyalty to your home or your side. Like someone being protective of their country, or their hometown. Of course you're going to like your side better. Well, at first anyway.
