An excellent question! I have started a thread here so we can probably discuss it! :)

The Parasol Protectorate was fabulous - I adored it (except one 3 star book).
Etiquette & Espionage was a huge disappointment. No plot, boring, it was a slog to even finish. 2 stars.
Because Gail's PP and blog posts are so witty and fun, I just read C&C #2. Definitely a 4 star read, I loved it! So glad to see Gail's PP character and plot development, witty, sparkling writing that fell flat in EE.
Couple of questions:

Hi Ladiibbug! Many of your questions will be answered in the rest of the Finishing School series, or if you just can't wait you can take a look at Ms. Gail's Wikia page here, it might have some answers as well.
As to the timeline, FS takes place some 22 years before PP. (view spoiler)
Hope that answers your questions. Happy reading! :)

Thanks for the quick reply, Skye! OK, so Vieve IS the same person as Madam Lefoux. Great to know.
It was a moment of SQUEEEE!!!!! to see Lord Akeldama make an appearance in CC, LOL. He is my favorite character so far in these books. Gail Carriger has posted that no, Lord Akeldama will not have his own book or series, as "it would be TOO much!" or something along those lines. I hope he pops up in the Prudence books, which I'll be reading after FS.

Lord Akeldama is a favorite of many (myself included), and you're in luck he does pop up in the Custard Protocol (Prudence) series as well!
