"Like" it if you like it!

Also, if your BOOK has a FB page, please share it so that others can get marketing ideas. Thanks!

Justine Laismith (justinelaismith) | 24 comments Thanks all for sharing, I would like to start my own too. Please can I ask how you put the heading "Book" or "Author" next to your "Photos" and under your Profile Picture? Also, how did you link your Goodreads author profile on your FB page? Thanks!

message 10: by Kevin (new)

Kevin Klehr (goodreadscomkevink) | 102 comments I have got a book FB page which, on recent advice from a very good blog, am starting to use as a hybrid author page as well, allowing people to 'friend' me as normal under my personal FB page.

Suzan Powers (httpwwwgoodreadscomstarbelle) | 4 comments Thank you for these posts, I am so inspired! I recently published my 3rd book and promoted it on my Facebook page and on my business page. Then I also posted the other two books. I didn't think I could have a separate author's page! These are great to see and gave me some ideas on what to do! Thanks again all you terrific authors!

message 13: by Shavon (new)

Shavon | 32 comments Wow, congrats Ed. Your page is awesome

message 17: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Alerte | 8 comments Perhaps I should create a new discussion but as many of you do giveaways on your FB pages it's somewhat related: What criteria do you use for people to win a copy of your book? I saw on your page Ed that people had to share a post to enter a chance to win. Is that how most of you do it?

message 18: by June (new)

June Ahern (juneahern) | 78 comments Yes, I have one for my books, and one for personal - family and friends - although they mixed. FB page has opened up my market, people from grammar school even, their friends, thus have sold quite a few books. I also have two separate pages to "Like" (The Timeless Counselor/A Complete Consumer's Guide to a Psychic Reading - specific to those interested in that subject) but it's my first novel (The Skye in June)that is most successful for promos and sales. I take a line or two from the books, and/or a part of reviews from Amazon or Goodreads - people check those out a lot. Haven't done the third for latest novel. Give-aways: didn't think of a post to enter. Good idea. Will do. I also started a blog page two years before my first novel, talking about the subject matter Not sure if either sold as many books as FB. Dat's my 2¢ worth. Good luck, Authors! Write on!

message 19: by Deborah (new)

Deborah Armstrong (deboraharmstrong) | 20 comments I started with a FB page for my book. Then started a second for book two. Then I realized and was told that this was too much work and that an author's page would be better. So now I have three pages as I'm trying to convince the 500plus likes of my Forever Love page to switch over to my author's page. Apparently, once you have over 200 Likes you can't change the name of your page and so you'll have to start anew.
My author's page is https://www.facebook.com/deboraharmst...

Liking your pages. Thanks for your likes in advance.
Deb

message 20: by Ed (new)

Ed Robinson (edrobinson) | 4 comments I ran a contest for anyone who would share the Amazon link to my book on their pages, (free signed copy to the winner)
I have also offered free copies to Kindle purchasers in exchange for a review on Amazon. Gave ten books away, got ten positive reviews. I now have 68 total, 61 5 star.
I also mix in a lot of pictures and comments that are not begging people to buy the book. Engaging content keeps people interested in what you post.
If you have any budget at all, you can promote posts from your book page to a targeted audience. I spent some money and aimed at boaters, sailors, etc. Then did another targeted at Jimmy Buffett fans, Parrotheads, etc. I got good results from those promoted posts, but you get what you pay for.

message 21: by Shavon (new)

Shavon | 32 comments Ed, thanks for sharing your success story. Deb, why not just add each book to the forever love page so fans of that story buy your next book and new fans go back and buy the first one? And maybe treat your profile page like an author page. I don't know about you, but I don't remember over half my FB friends anyway. They are from junior high or they are the younger siblings of friends, etc. so they may as well be fans anyway.

message 22: by Suzan (new)

Suzan Powers (httpwwwgoodreadscomstarbelle) | 4 comments Ok, I read these posts and checked out quite a few book and author pages. Thanks for this! Then I looked at my personal FB page which has a link to my business page. So I didn't know where I would put an author page or book page or if I even could. But I put together an author page anyway since I have 3 published books. Just don't know how to link it to my other pages yet. Maybe someone here could tell me? Here is the Facebook link to my author page: https://www.facebook.com/suzan.m.powe...

message 23: by Ken (new)

Ken (kendoyle) | 347 comments Suzan, I don't think there's a direct way to link your author page to your personal FB profile. For mine, I listed it under employment: you can use the name of your author page as your "company".

message 24: by Shavon (new)

Shavon | 32 comments Anna, I think you have to install the goodreads app through the Facebook apps page. (Log onto FB and go to help. Then type apps) Unless someone knows an easier way to link your FB page to goodreads?

message 25: by Carmen (new)

Carmen Amato (authorcarmenamato) | 73 comments I have my author page linked to Twitter and Pinterest, using apps from those platforms. I find I get alot of traction with fans that way, especially via Twitter.

message 30: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Oddo (jennoddo) | 2 comments As a publisher, my recommendation would be to do an author page, rather than a specific page on Facebook for your book. As you continue to grow your list of accomplishments as an author, it will become very difficult to maintain multiple FB pages for each of your books. Better to offer an author page and build a strong following there. If you can create a relationship with readers as an author, they may start to seek out your books just because they like YOU, rather than the topic. This is especially important for authors who write on a wide array of topics that do not not necessarily stick to a common theme or genre. Readers who wouldn't ordinarily buy a certain type of book or seek out its page on FB may take an interest in it simply because they follow you as an author.

Terence Goodchild (tezman) | 17 comments I have an author page on Amazon.com an author page on linkedin.com an author page on twitter.com and many on facebook.com and two web pages, but it has still not help me sell my books of which have many genre

message 33: by Shavon (new)

Shavon | 32 comments I hear you, Terrance. I'm convinced that it's takes word of mouth. Someone has to read it and post an insightful review and tell their friends and then maybe a few months after a new release has been out there it will catch on. (I'm also planning to do an ad on a popular book site for my genre after the holidays. I will let you know if the ad generates any sales).

message 34: by Terence (new)

Terence Goodchild (tezman) | 17 comments many thanks, mind you I have got one review for one of my book a four star, and the reviewer is reading the second book in the series so who knows.
or maybe I have to many books listed it totals 12 and the 13 is now in session.

thanks

message 47: by Nix (new)

Nix Hamilton | 1 comments Thanks for your like. I'm trying a new type of promotional tactic. I'm not all about advertising my book 24/7. I think YA ppl would very quickly tire of that kind of fb page and "unlike" it. So I tend to focus on cute comic strips, inspirational quotes and occasional quote from my own novel in the mix so that they actual enjoy the page that they "liked" and decide to show it in their news feed.
Once it shows in their news feed- then the occasional promo for the new book in the series, i think won't be annoying but welcomed.
