Kinsey Swartz (tvindy) | 131 comments I read this in the early 80s. Unfortunately, I don't remember many details. I know it was a translation from a Scandinavian (probably Swedish) author. The main character has himself frozen after learning that his girlfriend has done the same. She is a ballet dancer who became paralyzed in some sort of accident and hopes that future technology will heal her and allow her to dance again. In the future she ends up getting a full spinal cord replacement. The boyfriend tracks her down in the future and watches some of her physical therapy as she learns to use the new spine.

I have some other recollections, but I'm not totally certain they're from the same book or a similar book. I remember the main character in the hospital after having recently being revived having a sexual encounter with a redheaded nurse. Also, he is told that there are colonies on the moon but later finds out that this is a lie. There was also something about harvesting organs and protests outside the cryogenics facility. The main character has the impression that at one point the power went out, and he almost woke up in a frozen state.

By complete chance I ran into a copy of this same book at a used book store and immediately recognized it from the description on the back.
