From brain scans and other data, more signs of animal ruefulness.

Cats or rats - I think this may be a species by species thing.

It's true. Cats are always right.

Anita | 28 comments Yay Larry! Cat's ARE always right, hee hee... seriously though, I think that it's great, thanks to research like this, that people are realizing that animals (yes, even cats!!) have emotional lives of their own with a much wider range of inner-experiences than they've sometimes been given credit for.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments My cats sometimes seem embarrassed, but never truly regretful.

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I think they might regret getting caught in questionable behavior. Cats take pride in their technique.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments When you catch them doing something, they're more like "What's YOUR problem? Why are you carrying on like that? Why SHOULDN'T I sit on the table? Oh, very well, I will jump down. Geez."

They get embarrassed when they roll too far backward on the platform of the scratching post and fall off. That is NOT supposed to happen!

Lori Cats think we humans need to tuck our tails in, not them.

I love the I MEANT to do that glare. And then the casual saunter off somewhere to groom themselves back to dignity.

Dogs always tuck their tails in when they've done a nono.
