Nah, just went along for the ride.
No, I just enjoyed it. I have been around a long time and just relied on my own knowledge of history. The book is fiction and I really enjoyed it. I really don't care if it was historically correct.
I didn't check any events, but since you asked the question, did YOU? And if so, were the people in the right places at the right time so that our hero could have met them? (I thought the book was very clever and enjoyable, no matter how unrealistic.)

No I didn't even think to do that, some things sounded right, and the story was that far fetched anyway. I just enjoyed the tale for what it was.
I agree, you had to just roll with the absurdity for this book to work (and I loved it) but I am reading a book now on the transition of leadership in the US army from Korean to Vietnam era and nodding my head saying aha.
What an absurd book, and I mean that in the best possible way! There were Forrest Gump and Being There (the movie) elements to it, but I laughed from start to finish.
One of the best books of the year. Usually I don't like it when historical facts get used in a liberal way, but this book is so hilarious it doesn't seem to matter.
It really doesn't matter, I just couldn't help myself. Of coourse it wasn't accurate, but it didn't spoil it for me, it really is a great book.

No, I did not fact check, but I totally loved this book!
I did. Really just smaller events that I wanted to see if they were fiction or rewritten, as I have a bad habit of picking up things from books and then forgetting where I got them from, meaning I then start telling people about the things, proclaiming it as fact.

It was good to refresh my history background, and I asked to my wife about historical things I realised I did not know well. Never been good in history at school, but my wife kindly explained me quite a lot, so it refreshed my knowledge.
I did that too! Just for context more than anything else. Sometimes he would mention somebody by first name and I knew he would be referring to a person from history so I would look it up so I could get the reference. Once or twice significant dates were used, and I looked it up to see why. It wasn't like I was checking everything that was written.
No, not really. I just went along on the journey. =) I absolutely loved this book.

It sure had me thinking about those things.Now long finished I don't think I will recall much to check it as I go along. Maybe.
I thought it would be a good idea to do so.
