Clockwork Angels and Here, There Be Dragons while as at the conference with both those authors. Got 'em signed, and Owen does drawings, too.

That's amazing, Greg!

Mark Lawrence (marklawrence) | 50 comments I get sent so many books that I don't buy many.

My most recent purchase was Senlin Ascends as a Christmas present for my mother.

Before that it was in the summer for a long hospital stay with my daughter. I bought Nod (after an assistant at Waterstones sold me on it) and Fool's Quest.

message 1454: by Alex (new)

Alex | 10 comments I really liked fools quest. Thought it was more up-tempo and overall a better book then the first (although the first book is still great). I have just bought Tigana.

I like buying books from authors who are present to tell me about it and then sign them. It's my weakness.

LOVE LOVE LOVE [book:The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
!
I remember sitting on my back porch reading it while my husband was mowing the lawn and I was bawling my eyes out, full on ugly-cry face. I think he was frightened.

message 1457: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 446 comments I just bought Snow Crash. I rarely ever buy books anymore, but there is this really cool independent bookstore down the street from us, and I have a strong urge to support them and keep them in business! I loved Seveneves so I have high hopes for Snow Crash.

Oh, and I also bought Lidia's Mastering the Art of Italian Cuisine: Everything You Need to Know to be a Great Italian Cook. We got a last minute chance to see Lidia Bastianich speak this week, so I got to buy the book and have her sign it! She was LOVELY and I could have listened to her speak about her childhood in Italy and cooking for DAYS on end!

Salvatore DemonWars Saga Volume 1: The Demon Awakens - The Demon Spirit - The Demon Apostle by R.A. Salvatore for $2.99 for my Nook. Then while trying to dl the sample of volume 2 I ended up buying volume 2 by mistake. I may call B&N and cancel the purchase...feel so dumb.

Aaron | 7 comments Kirsty wrote: "I also have The Welcome to Night Vale novel on my shelf waiting to be read."

If you are still catching up on the podcast, the novel falls between episodes 75 and 76 and 76 gets a little spoilery.

Cecil is the voice of the audiobook. I think I'm going to alternate between text (for speed) and audio (for narration).

Kirsty wrote: I've heard they've got a new one coming out called It Devours!: A Night Vale Novel."

It releases October 17, 2017 and can already be pre-ordered. https://commonplacebooks.squarespace....

Thrawn by Timothy Zahn. Zahn is a great writer and helped relaunch interest in Star Wars between Return of the Jedi and just about everything that came afterwards.

message 1487: by Gary (new)

Agreed. I dislike the Star Wars reboot only slightly less than the DC Comics one. I think both were mistakes and dis-services to fans.
