The Golem and the Jinni, Peace and War and A Brief History of Seven Killings, all basically brand new from the charity shops, for £4.50 in total.

Oh, Art sounds interesting! Especially right now as I am doing a Critical Reviewing writing class and we are deep in discussion trying to define what separates art from craft.

It's fun so far Jessica, even though there's also serious ideas underneath. I bet it's hilarious on stage - I'd love to see a performance of it someday!
Totally by coincidence, I just finished another play with a lot of similar questioning of what makes art. Red by John Logan, a play about the artist Mark Rothko. A much darker play but also good.
Both are very short, quick reads, about 50 pages each. Given that you're thinking over that topic of art/craft, I'd highly recommend both of them if you can find free copies at the library! A entertaining way to mull over the topic rather than reading a bunch of dry theory! :)

The Mechanical for around €4,50
and The Death Collector for just under €3,00
They also have The Blinding Knife for €4,00, but I left it for now seeing as I haven't read/don't own the first book... I'll probably give in next week though
Milou I really enjoyed The Mechanical and it's follow up. Enough so that I read them back to back and am eagerly awaiting the final book in the trilogy. Also am about a third of the way through The Black Prism (first book before The Blinding Knife I believe and it is fantastic so far. Will likely move directly onto book 2 if it stays as good as it's been so far. Really interesting world and magic system.

I really wish there were better book stores like that near me. I basically have Chapters and a few used book stores but they have Terribke sci fi fantasy sections. To better describ this, in one of them about 40% of the sci fi section is old L. Ron Hubbard books.
I got the boxed set of Heroes of Olympus for my birthday. :D I haven't read them yet. My bookshelf is full already, though ...
I got the secondary ng book I Brent Weeks Ligbtbringer Series. Am enjoying the first enough that I'm pretty sure I will move directly onto to book 2.

I bought: Hyperion x2
Rendezvous with Rama
The Mists of Avalon x2 ( I read it when I was young and liked it a lot, I'll see if it's the same 20 years later)
And for my son:
The Magician's Nephew
Porteur de masques
and a book about viking's legend

I read those as a teenager! Many, many years ago!!

I think this will be a big Sanderson year for me. I'm going to do Warbreaker and then the second Mistborn trilogy. I just started the Alcatraz kid series, which I am loving, and looking forward to more of the Rithmatist.

First Law series
New Pompeii
This Savage Song
Mistborn books 4-6
Hard to resist these things when they're only 99p each :-/

And yes, I did buy it because I fell in love with the cover art...

Oh this is totally creepy. I have never seen this book before today, but I was browsing a charity shop today and picked it up and considered buying it. I put it down again - it is beautiful though and is what drew me to it!

I met the author of The Paper Magician not too long ago. I guess she's a sister-in-law or something of one of my college roommates.

I choose Cosmos
The First Law series is so fantastic. If you enjoy the trilogy be sure to check out the three stand alone's that follow and are set in the same series. the final standalone Red Country was my favourite of the six books.
I recently purchased:
The Blood Mirror
Wrath
and
The Art of the Mass Effect Universe
The Art of Mass Effect is fantastic. Getting so see concept art for all the species and characters was my favourite part to see how different things could have been.

Good choice Frannie. I'll have to have a reread of that sometime ;-)

It's got a" loyal talking dog" in it! I like it :-D

Dark Lover
Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear
also bought The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet but returned it I couldn't get into the voice acting. Will give the actual book a try.

Yes, Riordan is really good at writing sarcastic kids. Some writers try to do sarcastic characters but they just come off as bratty.
Being a sucker for autographed books, I bought Partials and Bluescreen by Dan Wells.
Speaking of local authors, I have not been able to corner Brandon Sanderson yet as he is NEVER HOME.

He was a guest at a conference I was at a few years ago, Audrey. He's a cool guy, was very nice with his fans. I will admit, at the time, I hadn't the slightest idea who he was.

Right. My library is selling a bag of books (you fill a grocery bag with what you want) for a dollar, but there's nothing there I really want.
