Thanks, I just corrected it again. This is another glitch that I am now seeing - from me anyway. No matter, How many times that I clicked on Covet - it kept posting Crave - then when it showed up correct and I posted it - Crave was there again - eek!!!

This is a stand alone book.

Review: Logan has some major anger management issues and in a flash of temper ends up putting his wife Linda in the hospital. Logan has suppressed his gay tendencies for a very long time due to circumstances from his past and is unaware that it is filtering into his life/marriage now. He is court ordered into counseling. Highly emotional read as you are brought into the life of other abused survivors trying to get their lives back together. Logan's counselor *volunteers* him for the mechanic classes for these abused women. Through this and meeting Nick who put the program together for the girls. Logan has to face his past and where he wants to go with his future as he is unable to deny his attraction to Nick.
I loved watching Logan with his daughters and searching to find the best way to help them through this ordeal - took him a while but he got there. I really didn't like Linda at all - granted that does not excuse the abuse that occurred to her. There is never an excuse for that. However, she was the type of character that keeps *poking the angry bear* and expecting nothing in return. Linda and Logan in the end were able to deal with each other.

Nick had his own issues from his past to deal with as well. I felt the author did a good job with this subject matter. Nothing was glossed over or made light of. I enjoyed Logan and Nick together.

Doctor Who: The Nightmare of Black Island by Mike Tucker
Finished: 10/12
Rating: ★★★★✩

REVIEW:

The Nightmare of Black Island was a fun & interesting story and another great installment to the Doctor Who: New Series Adventures. I loved the interactions between the Doctor & Rose, they were done very well, and the way the Doctor behaved was almost spot on - there were a couple of things he did that just didn't seem right. The monsters in this book were quite terrifying, the idea was just so scary, I just loved it!

If you're a fan of Doctor Who, especially Ten's Doctor, I think you'd really enjoy reading The Nightmare of Black Island. I know I did :)

PepperP0t Moving to Space #: 13
Book Read: MacRieve by Kresley Cole (#13 of the series)
Date Finished: October 13
Rating: 4.75 stars
Review: (excerpt from full review) Pat's thoughts on MacRieve
The guilt that has been torturing MacRieve for so long is explained and he epitomizes the tortured hero trope. Soccer star Chloe Todd has been sheltered from half of her ancestry for all of her life. When she confesses that she feels different to her father, he abandons her without giving her any answers. When he scents Chloe, MacRieve feels the need to live again and is sure she is his mate. He'll only have to fight every caste of Immortal to keep her. I was quite pleased with the balance of romance, tension, action and drama. I also loved the semi-cliffhanger ending and liked that there were some answers to outstanding questions. Overall I'd say this was one of the more enjoyable entries to the series.

Chaos series #1

Review: Not sure why I waited so long to start this book. Tabby is 19, daughter of the president of the motorcycle club and the brothers frequently get calls out in the middle of the night to pick her up and get her home safely. Shy decides one time to teach her a lesson as he feels she is heading down the wrong path. Yeah - his idea of a lesson totally sucked. However, Tabby gets her life in order and spends her time where it belongs on her studies. Shy just never thought that he would *never* see her again after that. Umm, duh?!?! (view spoiler)
Tabby and Shy both have much growing up to do before they can get to their happy ever after. Much grief, sorrow and angst in this book. I enjoyed watching Tabby grow up and into her own. Couple times I thought she was a bit of a pushover but whatever. Shy once he made up his mind he wanted Tabby - he never left her guessing what he wanted or where he was at. As always Kristen Ashley weaves an awesome tale and this one did not disappoint. Was great to see all the biker gang back, sneak peek at the Mystery Men, Tex and a Hot Bunch fix all rolled into one fine package.

Book 2 spoiler for those who've read Motorcycle Man (view spoiler)

message 173: by PepperP0t (new)

PepperP0t don't forget its not a "continuous series" you really don't have the same people from book to book. they switch up with species, and a lot of it you don't have to remember from book to book. but I get it. sometimes if a series makes you say WTH too many times you just don't care if/when you get back to it (or at least that's the way I feel)

Pride Mates (Shifters Unbound, #1) by Jennifer Ashley

Completed 10/14

4.75 stars

I have had this book on my TBR for quite some time, and I am so glad that I finally decided to read it. I needed a book that I could just sink my mind into and not have to really think, and this one fit the bill. I enjoyed getting to know Kim and Liam and other characters as well. Because Liam is a shifter, he must live in shiftertowns and wear a collar. Kim is an attorney and is representing Bryan, who is a shifter and is accused of murdering his girlfriend. Kim knows that Bryan is innocent since the collar will not allow shifters to become violent. She is determined to help Bryan prove his innocence when everyone else is out to prove that he is guilty. The legal system is against Bryan since he is a shifter so Kim sets out to discover his innocence by going to Shiftertown, which a human never sets foot in. Liam meets the beautiful lady and immediately is attracted to her but knows that she is out of his reach. Liam quickly intervenes when a shifter without a collar attempts to attack Kim in her own home.

The key to the success of this book is the fact that Jennifer Ashley depicts Shiftertown and its people so well that one can easily see this community in the outskirts of Austin where the book takes place. The reader is quickly drawn in and reality is forgotten while one is transported to the shifter world. I loved this book and can’t wait to read the second book in the series!

Far Shore (After Trilogy, #3) by Traci L. Slatton

Read:
Far Shore (The After Series, Book 3) by Traci L. Slatton
Finished: 10/15
Rating & Review: ★★★★
Considering how much I enjoyed the previous two books, this one came up a little short for me. It lacked what I loved most about the preceding books--the interaction of Arthur and Emma in a partnership.
This one was mostly depressing until the end and for a trilogy, it wasn't resolved.
There is still some unfinished business with Emma's husband Haywood, her frenemy Alexis and those darn mists. But the gang has been healed and restored together, so that was the highlight of this book for me. The birth of Jeaniene's twins was a happy time for this group that has been through so much.

Emma and Alexie, with "idiot" Arthur in the same house is just inexcusable to me. I don't care how lonely she got. That was just beyond hitting a bottom, and it grossed me out.

I hope the next book restores my high because Arthur and Emma is a combination that can't be beat.

What a great story! The author captured The Doctor's and Martha's personalities and mannerisms perfectly. The monsters were scary, like all good Doctor Who ones should be, which made the story all the better. I think all Whovians would greatly enjoy reading Sting of the Zygons, I know I did.

Coming back to this book, is like revising old friends. This was one of my favorite books in 2012 and still is today. Very seldom do I re-read anything so this tells you how much that I love this storyline. The four main characters are childhood best friends, and I could see me right in the middle of their group had this been reality. Ms. Roberts describes each friend, and how they became so close. The supporting characters are also endearing as well. I have actually read the entire series and plan to re-read the other two books as well.

The four friends create a business venture that turns them even closer. When Parker’s parents die in a fiery car crash, she and her brother inherit their wealthy parent’s estate. With such a large house and grounds, Parker immediately decides that she wants to begin this venture. Each of the girls has a special talent that will eventually turn Vows into a reality. With the help of all four, Vows becomes one of the premier wedding planning and catering events in their hometown. The story covers their trials and tribulations growing up, as well as their current situations as adults. Parker’s brother, who happens to be a prominent attorney, helps the girls along the way. Of course, this book is typical Nora style and is full of romance as well.

Review: (excerpt from full review) Pat's thoughts on Ember's Kiss
This adventure of the Pyr has surfer Brandon Merrick on the cusp of achieving all his goals when he meets marine biologist Liz Barrett. Brandon has unwittingly allowed himself to become a pawn in Chen's quest for ruling the Pyr. Brandon hates his dragon and hopes the firestorm will end his ability to shift. Liz has denied her heritage as a witch and being in Hawaii seems to have re-awakened her gift, she can also see through Chen's magic. I absolutely loved Liz's very strong thread. While the other female leads have not been weak, their threads were not as full as Liz's. Another action I liked was the closure of some storylines while ushering in a new era with others. Overall a very satisfying read.
