If you don't have a book #6 in a series, the Alternative - The author's first, middle, or last name to start with a "b"
*Remember your book must be at least 150 pages

I'm going to use the alternate and read a Patricia Briggs book.
~ I was hoping for a 5 but it all worked out!

I like Alpha males and that whole possessive thing. I love this series. Book 1 was the weakest but I saw the potential and kept going and book 3 was my fav but 4&5 are right there as well.
It was my first BR with Jenne & Dawn (I think) but neither girls continued with the series.

Eai & Melissa -well I'm obviously short a few cells today (or maybe its the wine). Anyway, what's spot#?

I'm glad that someone else asked this! I'm not sure either.... Is it the spot that we post our review?

Review: Pat's thoughts on Wolf Fever
Your post looks fine although the first line should just read "Spot: 6"
*I think Jenne wants the review on your post, not a link.
Word spot? You just have to read and post by Wed, and then Megan will roll a new number to move us along our board.
So Pat, you are done until Megan's new roll

Spot or space 6 is ok just something stating which spot you're reading for, otherwise ill get myself all confused looking at all of the teams posts lol. You probably should post your review but if you'd rather link it I'm not gonna be upset. Whichever is easier for you. And PLEASE pass the wine this way too, stupid Cowboys SMH....

I fried chicken, au gratin potatoes, asparagus, garlic rolls and cherry cobbler - have that. the wine is all mine (what there is left of it.
Lookee - I had my godson's 18th birthday celebration to go to last night and missed all the fun, lolOk - so good to know Space # or Spot # works.
Nice job Pat finishing so quickly even with all the wine ☺
I should be done with mine tonight.

You're a few ahead of me. I'll be sad when I read the last one. I'm liking this one a lot more than the last two.
Have you read the other series by her? Can't think of the name. Any good??
The Alpha & Omega Series is the one I prefered, and it is what led me to try Mercy Thompson.
I am sorry, but I didn't read beyond chapter 1 as the Cowboys decimated my nerves with that darn game. I am trying to focus on the positive--that he gave Manning and the Broncos all they could handle; we could have won; our quarterback had the game of his career.
but no running game. bad ending. defense gave up 51 points--this ain't no damn baskbetball game. That last interception was a killer:(

Review: Mercy is now dealing with being made part of the pack and finding out that several of the pack are not happy with this. Feeling her way as the Alpha's mate and still getting over what happened with Tim. Samuel makes a life altering decision that Mercy is the only one who can deal/help with to possibly save him from himself (with some help from Adam). Fae are after Mercy for an item they believe she *owns*. I liked this one much better than the last two. Mercy has finally figured out that she needs to include others in her decisions and let them know when she needs help instead of making herself an island. More development of pack workings and how they get along. Zee makes another appearance and we get to see more of Jesse and Gabriel's budding relationship.

Magic Rises is the 6th installment in the addictive Kate Daniels urban fantasy series. The European pact is in control of a much needed medicine to save children from going loup.
Kate can’t stand to sit around and watch the children suffer and even worse dealing with the consequences afterwards. Unfortunately, there is little of the medicine available in Atlanta. Curran is summoned by the European shapeshifters to settle a dispute among their pack. If Curran agrees to the mediation, he will be rewarded in the much coveted medicine. Both he and Kate know that the mediation is a set-up but it is worth the price for the medicine.
Kate and Curran run into obstacles every step of the way, especially where Kate is concerned. This is a very fast paced read and one that has left me with wanting more!
I decided to switch to the alternate and am reading Deeply Devoted by Maggie Brendan. Roll 1 - Space #6

Read: Deeply Devoted by Maggie Brendan - alternate used
Finished: 10/7
Rating: ★★★✩✩
REVIEW:
I love mail-order bride novels, so when I saw Deeply Devoted I just had to read it. However, I'm so torn about what to give this book! It was one that I didn't want to put down and had to finish, but it was also so annoying at times because some of the aspects of the story were so unbelievable.
The story begins with Catharine along her sisters arriving in Wyoming from Amsterdam after six months of Catharine corresponding with Peter, her fiance. Peter had no idea that she was bringing along her two sisters, which is the start of the trust issues between them.
I loved most of the characters, even though they were a bit dull at times, so this is the reason I'm giving it a 3 star rating instead of a 2. I was strongly considering giving it a 4 star, but the negatives of the story were just too many.
For a story that takes place in the 1880's I found all the modern ideas very unbelievable. Women wearing overalls and thinking them cute. People considering a women of 18 all grownup and not needing, or allowing, anyone to tell her what to do anymore. But I think the attitudes regarding divorce were the biggest shock to me and the one I found the hardest to believe. I can't really get into detail about it, as the reason behind it is kind of a surprise, but I still had to mention it. Also the big scene at the end, which I saw coming, while very sweet was so ridiculous.
I plan on reading the next books in this series and am hoping that they will be better. If you love mail-order bride novels you'll probably want to read this one, but I would suggest borrowing it, if at all possible, first.
Debbie & Melissa I liked both of your books as well and felt the same way. I'm anxious for another installment of each.
Well, I never read books out of order but I couldn't wait any longer. I wasn't lost so guess now I have to go back to the ones that I missed. Hoping for a lucky roll on Thursday....
Week 1:
Roll 1 - Space #6
Read: Shadowed (Dark Protectors, Book 6) by Rebecca Zanetti
Finished: 10/8
Rating & Review: ★★★★
I had know from the moment Jase Kayrs met Breanne Dunne, that they would have an HEA. They just made sense...but it has been a long time (4 books) to get here.
It's been five years since the Kayrs brothers rescued their baby brother Jase from the demons, and Jase is still messed up. The torture and mind games has left him perpetually angry and unfortunately, powerless.
Jase was the brother who had control over water elements and since his release, his powers do not work.
Breanne Dunne, who had also been been kidnapped by the demons, is dying because they forced her to drink planekite, which is poisonous to witches. She has been given less than six months to live until her aunt Vivian comes with a brilliant plan. Mate with a vampire, and gain the immortality that comes with the mating.
Jase volunteers because mating would allow him to share Breanne's gifts as a witch and he can use it to get revenge against the Demons who held him prisoner for five years.
The only problem is that Breanne wants what her older sister Moira has with Jase's older Brother Conn--LOVE. A classic case of Revenge or Love, which is more important.
I really enjoyed this book as I knew I would. This series gets better and better. Alpha males with strong capable females, definitely lots of fireworks. There was a little movement on the plot, not much, as we approach the final showdown with Kalin, Janie and Zane. At least know we know a little more about Zane. And the vampires and witches have a stronger understanding.
I didn't give this book a 5 because after all that build up about Breanne's power, other than saving Janie, I wasn't that impressed. I kind of expected her to cure world hunger, create world peace etc. She didn't even find the cure to the virus. So I felt let down a tad. Plus, Janie never got the witches book of prophecy and it seemed really important. so what's up with that?
The romance and "healing" both physically and emotionally was so nicely done though. So I was pleased. All the Kayrs men have put their markings on someone. Alright!!!!
I don't know who the next full novel will be on, but I can't wait. I suppose it has to be the Janet Kayrs show as she should be the age of prophecy.
Everyone should give this series a try!
