Read: Doctor Who: The Eyeless by Lance Parkin
Finished: November 21, 2013
Rating: ★★★
REVIEW:
The Eyeless takes place during the tenth Doctor's travels by himself after the loss of Donna. It was nice having the Doctor by himself, in other DW books when there's a companion travelling with the Doctor rarely do we hear what the Doctor's thinking. Usually we get the companion's perspective. So this was a nice change, though it had it's sad moments when the Doctor remembers that he's by himself and you can see how much he misses having someone with him.
There were some really humorous lines, but my favorite one was when the Doctor was backing out of saying he's a Time Lord, he realized that it wasn't such a good idea to let them know that, and so he says:
'Oh. Right. Yes, I see why there's all this confusion. Simple mistake. It's "Thyme", with and H-Y. The herb. I'm a Thyme Lord.'
Oh this made me laugh so much! And it reminded me of a photo (view spoiler) I'd seen online not to long ago and thought it was funny, but now it's so much funnier!
The story itself however wasn't the greatest. It was hard to follow at times and a bit confusing. Overall I'm still glad I read it, though it probably won't be one I'll reread.
If you're a Whovian you will want to read The Eyeless but probably should read other DW novels first, as there are some excellent ones and this one was just good.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Nice job Megan!I will finish up my book tonight but probably won't post til tomorrow. It's my daughter's birthday and we are headed out to dinner tonight - restaurant of her choice ☺
May I just say Agent Rhodes is a douchebag - I want him to be given to a Domme!!

Thumbnail Review: Caroline Tolbertson's lifelong passion has been swimming, which of course is something ladies don't do. So she sneaks to feed her passion whenever she can. One of those excursions lead her to saving the life of Scottish Baron David Cameron, and he immediately becomes the ideal man of her dreams. Years later Caroline & David meet by chance on the same beach and he is still very much her ideal but he feels the only thing he can offer her is friendship. After finding Caroline is being maligned by an uncouth member of the summer gentry, David makes it his mission to have Caroline seen as the most desirable woman in Brighton. With his plan proceeding much too well, David is sure he cannot let another man find lifelong happiness with his Caroline.
Caroline's growth from insecure ""tomboy"" to confident self-assured woman was a very good arc for both leads as David had so much to do with that growth. David's demon's and self-loathing go out for a spin as he too finds that he too has a bit hard on himself as well. The secondary characters were interesting enough and their antics and meddling kept the vividly drawn town quite the place to be. I also enjoyed the writing style and witty voices of the characters. For my taste the pacing could have been faster and the storyline a little less wordy. While I liked, I didn't love this read as much as I wanted to but this light read was a very good way to fill a couple of hours.

Review: Gabrielle is a Social Worker for victims of crimes within the FBI. One of her best friends has been abducted due to being involved in the life of BDSM. It appears that *bratty* submissives with no ties are being taken. She offers herself up to the FBI officers in charge to go undercover as she was in the lifestyle in college. As she would be better at acting the part. The FBI end up with 3 different submissives sent to three different clubs within the Tampa area but Gabrielle is the only one with any knowledge of what she is in for in the club scene.
FBI agents contact Master Z from Shadowlands to have her put in as part of the submissive trainees who are under Master Marcus' command. Oh and no one at the club can be aware of what she is doing. Master Marcus is caught unaware when he has a new submissive placed into his duty and not up for discussion from Master Z.
One bratty submissive reports for duty, only problem is she doesn't want to defy her trainer at all and has to push herself to be a brat, add in FBI Agent Rhodes who believes his shit doesn't stink and he is supposed to protect her but already hates her guts as she had repeatedly reported him for improper behavior to his superiors. He is constantly on her to act her part better and it's all her fault if he doesn't get to catch the bad guy. Master Marcus due to his past life with his ex wife doesn't like or do bratty subs but something about Gabrielle captures his interest. This book had lots of drama from all the main players as well as Master Z and his submissive Jessica. In the end Gabrielle and Jessica end up in the sights of the abductors. Will they be saved in time?

This is the first book that I have read by Carol Grace. I loved her writing style and the development of her characters. This book could have easily been one of my few 5 star books of the year had it not abruptly ended. I wanted to know more about Bridget and Josh and Josh’s five year old son, Max. This book would have made an excellent series or at least a longer book. The storyline is a contemporary cowboy romance. Bridget drives in from San Francisco looking for a model for her Wild Mustang cologne ad. She spots Josh and immediately knows that she found her man. Bridget has just broken up with her fiancé and also lost her job – sense his dad was her boss. Since she has just opened her own advertising agency, Bridget knows that this campaign can make or break her business. Josh reluctantly agrees to be her model since he only has to sit on his horse.
Josh has vowed to never love again after losing his wife to a virus a couple of years prior. He has refrained from any social life with his friends and is happy raising Max and tending to his ranch. However, spending time with Bridge, Josh realizes that he is missing a very important element from his life – Bridget.
This was such a nice and laid back read. If only, Ms. Grace would have continued the storyline out just a bit, the book would have been awesome! I will definitely seek out more books by this author. As a contemporary western romance, I would highly recommend it. The writing of the scenery on the ranch, including the sunset scene was spectacular. I could see the open fields and smell the fresh air!
I rolled the die and it was a 5. So we are on space 64 and have to read a book that's #4, #6, or #64 in a series or the alternate item: Publication year 2007Team 7 - Se7en Deadly Sins

Thumbnail Review: Fans of the series will get huge emotional payoffs in this very busy installment as Nika & Madoc get to bottom of Nika's insanity since the sgath took her blood and her sister years ago and move their relationship to the level Nika has been pushing to be. Gloria's confessions ravage her relationships with Angus, Sybil and Maura and the depth of all she's done is revealed. Torr's changes upset the balance in his relationship with Grace. Now seems to be the time for the Band of Barren to come out of the shadows a bit and the Sanguinars have been very quietly busy with Project Lullaby which gets a subtle unveiling.
This is a series that needs to be read in order as the mating dance for the lead couples seem to be complex and tend to play out over several books. Since the lead characters are already known and the activity is split between a few locations many threads can advance per installment. This world ebbs and flows very well and doesn't feel overfull with the huge cast and the well executed twists in each book help pump the anticipation up for the next installment.

Review: So glad that I finally got to this book. In the end of the last book Adam is made human and invisible to the human eye due to challenging the Queen of the Fae's decision publicly regarding what Dustan or Daegus had done - can't remember which twin was the last books. In the process of this he ended up unbeknownst to him dwindling his power as he gave it to the twin so they could have their life back. He is thrust into the human realm. As he is in search for his son in Cincinatti he finds one human female who can actually see him. How does he know that she can see him you ask? As he is lusting after her while laying across a park bench, he attempts to adjust himself. As he looks up he realizes she is staring right at him. Gabrielle has been attempting to hide from the Fae for all of her life. Directed by her Gram how to act or not react really so that she may stay safe. Gabrielle is a Sidhe-seer. All of the Fae had thought they were all killed out years ago by the Hunters. Now that she has been seen she attempts to flee only to open her front door and Adam is, of course, tight there. She proceeds to give him a fat, bloody lip and extremely painful knee to his groin. Hilarious as Adam has never felt pain before. Adam needs her help to *talk* with his son once he finds him due to his invisibility thing. An enemy from Adam's past has also decided this is the time he can get rid of Adam and overthrow the Queen.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was so much fun watching Adam realizes what humans go through and what their emotions feel like. It was just as much fun to see Gabrielle realize that everything her Gram had taught her as well as what had been documented in their books may not really be accurate. We end up seeing the twins and their wives again as well as their children. Hilarious what Gabrielle tells *all* the women at the twins castle about Adam so they won't fawn all over him anymore. I'm looking forward to the next book and being that much closer to completing a series.
Happy Thanksgiving teamies!! Hope you all enjoy your day with wonderful food, family and friends. Safe travels for any who have to travel tomorrow.
I just started Mind Fuck by Manna Francis, which meets the alternative (published in 2007). It will replace my previous option of book 6: The Darkest Kiss.

I almost gave up on this series as book 5 was painful to read. It bored me to clean my entire house! I did like this book as it was about Adam Black. The book actually included characters from book 5 which was fun to revisit Scotland. I enjoyed all of the dialogue between the characters and how Gabby was accepted by Gwen and Chloe. Adam was very sensitive to Gabby and although initially he was using her to get to the queen. He ultimately fell in love with her. I think now I will finish the series!
Overall, I enjoyed this book and while I do enjoy the writing, some of the detail could have been eliminated. At least this book finally helped to explain the role of who and what Adam Black is. It would have been nice to have had this information in an earlier book.
Hey teames!!Our cabin this year doesn't have internet access so I can't use my computer. I have access on my IPad but have a limited amt. of megabytes that I can use. We are also busy on vacation - just the two of us- but I have read 3 books since I've been here!! Hope everyone is having a nice weekend! P.S Pat, why again did you hate this book? I am really enjoying it

REVIEW:
I've read all the previous books in the Brides of Simpson Creek series and loved them. So I just knew, barring something strange happening, that I would love this one too and I did :)
It's a little different from the others in the series as the bride isn't the one from Simpson Creek but I kind of liked the change.
I love how the couples from the previous books are in this one, which gives you a little update on how their lives together are going.
I would recommend Hill Country Cattleman and the Brides of Simpson Creek series to anyone who enjoys a clean historical romance. The books don't need to be read in order, they work very well as stand-alones, just know that some of the details from the previous books will be given.
***I received a complimentary copy of this book to review. I was asked to give my honest opinion of the book - which I have done.***
Updated the comment with all our reviews, so I'm all ready for when Ezi posts hers :)I just wanted to let you know that I probably won't get on until about 1 p.m. (CST) Sunday, so if you post your review before that just know that I'll be on about that time to roll.

This is Adam Black's HEA with Gabrielle O'Callaghan.
Adam was punished for saving Daegus' life. The Fae Queen took away his immortality and made him human. Adam runs into a sidhe seer, and he coerced Gabby to help him contact the Fae Queen, in order to beg for his old powers back.
Unfortunately, an old nemesis Daroc, decided that is was easier to kill Adam as a human, and so he sent hunters to murder Adam. Thus Adam figured out Daroc was trying to overthrow the queen and take seelie power. Adam had to stop him...and protect Gabby whom he'd begun to crave like no other woman before.
Gabby was a good heroine. She seemed strong, and didn't trust Adam for quite a while. But Adam seduced her with looks, cars, material things and of course but his protection/consideration for her safety. So another virgin falls for a fae. I liked Adam And Gabby but Adam outshines her by far. It's okay because Adam spans two series and he is a big character. But he has been likable in the last couple of books, so it was nice to see him as the smart mouth, wise Alec troublemaker. Adam as a human had human desires and he was thoughtful of others in a way he normally isn't. Though he was still Adam in many ways. I liked that she kept calling him an "it".
This was sweet and a tad cheesy at the end...but that's how I like it. This is my 2nd favorite book, after book 2. I am looking forward to finishing this series soon.
