Debbie - this sounds like a book I'd enjoy. I have been checking it out on and off. Will have to see about getting it. One more 'thunk' to my TBR pile ☺

PepperP0t what series were you all planning for 2014?

@ezi - so why did you feel the need to share miss cyrus with us? hat did we do to annoy you so much?

@deb - I tried to go back to that moning book - I still hated it. I am not gonna read the last two in that series.

@Melissa - let me know when you're ready

Megan (celtic_girl) | 586 comments Ezinwanyi~For you, Agron wrote: "Megan, I would invite you but I believe you don't read PNR/UF stuff...do you read straight romances though? "

My reading is pretty eclectic, I'll read pretty much any genre. I do read romances, just don't like when they have sex/steamy scenes, not my thing, off screen is one thing, but I don't want to read the details. I also prefer there to be no swearing, but I have read books with some and as long as it fits the story and isn't every word it doesn't bother me too much.

I think I've read some books that would be classified as PNR (that's paranormal romance, right?) and a couple that are UF. I like paranormal stuff once in a while, but my favorite to read is historical.

Exactly. I've read some like that and they are so annoying!

Pat - what books are you up to in GoE and Pride Shelley Laurenston. I could BR either of them with you and Ezi. Are you starting at #1. I could re-read them. I ♥ Laurenston - she cracks me up and I'm not that far into GoE - in fact I think you may have been who recommended it to me.

It would be so great and such an experience, haven't decided yet (don't know if I can convince anyone else to go and I don't want to go by myself), but I'm definitely going to be watching it at home. David Tennant's back, and so is Billie Piper, and that makes me so happy! The only thing that could make it better is if River Song and Captain Jack were going to be in it too. :)

Megan, I love historicals too---historical romance, that is! On your TBR, you have to read Ten Tiny Breaths (Ten Tiny Breaths, #1) by K.A. Tucker

@Melissa & Pat, I will join on the Robin Carr as I have never read her stuff

Melissa, on DH, my next book in that series is: Upon the Midnight Clear (Dream-Hunter, #3; Dark-Hunter, #14) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
On IAD, my next book is: Dark Desires After Dusk (Immortals After Dark, #6) by Kresley Cole

Pat, I decided to share Miley Cyrus with you all because you needed a reminder of what good girls trying to be bad really looks like "A Skank".
Why, because it's not in them, they are pretenders so they end up overdoing stuff.

It reminded me of "this is your brain on drugs" except it would be "this is your daughter after Disney & Salvo and/or Weed

too much money, too much freedom. But I saw an interview and she claimed that she was an organized and intentional mess. She said everything she is doing, was already thought out and planned. So while she appears ratchet to us, there is a "movement" behind this.

Pat, I did the same with the series. I hate to abandon a series and seldom do, but I just can't do it. I have now tried 3 times and wanted to throw the book across the room - which I can't because it's my Kindle. I had to force myself to read the last one, and it's just not worth the effort.

~Melissa~ | 5253 comments @Pat and Ezi - Leslie and I are starting Virgin River in March - we are going to do the three Alpha/Omega books by Patricia Briggs after we finish Mercy Thompson series read if that works for you guys. We are starting Midnight Breed in January - our plan is one book from each series a month until done.

I could start GoE in January.

@Ezi - I have Dark Desires after Dark in paperback if you want to buddy read it when we get to the 6's for this. I think I'm 1-2 behind you in DH - the lat two I read were just 'meh' - couldn't get into them. Will have to get back to it.

@Pat - did you finish all The Kristen Ashley series? There is a 2014 series for her in the Romance Readers Reading challenge group if you're not up to date yet.

PepperP0t I so wanna do the McCarty Series!

I'm gonna go with either Brawn (New Species, #5) by Laurann Dohner or Possession (Fallen Angels, #5) by J.R. Ward or Jagged (Colorado Mountain, #5) by Kristen Ashley

fever stayed for me (not a huge fan, but don't hate it) it was the highlander series by her we've been tempted to throw the readers, I've deleted it twice (and had to reload to try again)

not particularly driven on Virgin River so March is fine with me. I've done Alpha & Omega by Briggs I like them better than Mercy.

I'm fine with GoE in January - but I may do more than one per month, we'll have to see.

Not done with all Kristen Ashley, I have 2 left for Ghosts & Reincarnation; one book left for the 3. I haven't started the Burg or Chaos and I still have the new Colorado Mountain to read. So way more than half but still a chunk to go. I"ll go see. Thanks

Pat wrote: "I so wanna do the McCarty Series!"

Me too. That is why I started the audiobook this morning of book 2 The Hawk (Highland Guard, #2) by Monica McCarty .

But then I also want to get back to New species, I am on book 4: Justice (New Species, #4) by Laurann Dohner so I like that you are considering that one.

I am enjoying KMM's Highlander on audio. I'm on book 6: The Immortal Highlander (Highlander, #6) by Karen Marie Moning but i did not enjoy Fever. I read all of them and I don't think any of the books were more than a 3-star reading for me. I am still waiting for someone to tell me what the heck JZB is. WHAT kind of creature is he? (ummm, obviously I don't like him)

I also prefered A&O to Mercy, but I still loved Mercy T. Book 4 of A&O isn't due out until late 2014 and possibly 2015 according to the author.

message 637: by PepperP0t (new)

PepperP0t it was book 6 that made us both crazy. it's a divisive book and either you love it or you hate it. Like Debbie I hate to DNF a series but sometimes you have to.

like I said, I read Fever series and it was ok to me. not one of my favorites. I still don't get what all the hoopla was about. but one that did make me just scream and want to throw my readers away was that doggone guild hunter #4. I swore I would never read another word by her. I had received and read psy-changling 1-10 (none of the shorts) as a gift which I did finish but it made me doubt my sisters love for me.

My goodness, Archangel's Blade (Guild Hunter, #4) by Nalini Singh was not only my favorite book in the guild hunters series. It was the only book that I LOVED by Nalini singh.

i don't enjoy Nalini that much. I like her, but I don't love her stuff.

Oh man! I loved Dmitri's book!!!

message 639: by PepperP0t (new)

PepperP0t see, that's why we get along so well, we respect and appreciate our similarities and differences.

I know I couldn't delete that book fast enough and never would be too soon for me to read the letter "a" by her.

Her style didn't really appeal to me either so I get what you mean. I was so sorry I promised my sister I'd read every one of thoae. But at least I got her to promise she'd never buy me another book without hurting her feelings.
