I also like the background, the pink/purple thing. It softens that rugged cowboy and it's just so nice:D
I hope he is a nice hero

Thumbnail Review: Something that happened in Vegas, but couldn't stay in Vegas was when Kyle Gilchrist and Celia Lawson woke up married. Having been frenemies who had hidden their feeling for each other for years it was an easy decision to annul it immediately. Well maybe not so easy when Kyle finds that he is the illegitimate son of a recently deceased wealthy curmudgeon and has inherited a working ranch in addition to quite a bit of money. On the premise of staying together so that he'll have help as he learns to be a rancher and Celia will have money to fulfill her dream they set up house, much to the chagrin of her brothers and the joy of everyone else. Before long of course neither wants to leave the other ever.
I liked both of these characters from previous appearances in the series. Their courtship coming after the marriage was amusing in itself and was just so darn cute when they were insecure about how the other felt. The steamy intimate scenes between this sexy couple really scorched the pagea while they stumbled and stuttered how to communicate with each other.
This breezy read is without a doubt my favorite of the series and hopefully the series has found its footing!
Nice review Pat. I may have to try that series by Miss James, lol. And the cover is def nice :)I'm done and will do my review later as the computer keeps kicking me off !@#$@

Book 4 of the Dark Hunter series

Review: This was a re-read for me. Zarek is the illegitimate son of a Roman general, who was treated cruelly by his father and brothers then to be sold into slavery and the cruelty continues. He has in the previous books been rather gruff and generally unlikable. Astrid is blind but can see straight to the truth of the matter. This is a very emotionally charged book as you see into aspects of Zarek's past that makes him the way that he is - so heart breaking. Loved Zarek and Astrid's story. These are always the best books - reminds me of Z and Bella's story from BDB series. Throw in the Heifer Bitch Goddess doing crap, Simi just being her - where is the BBQ ☺, the Squires and of course Archeron. Awesome book. Even better the second time around!!
Glad to hear you both loved your books, Pat & Melissa! :)I'm not too far into mine, but I hope to finish it today anyway - it's not too long and so far it's really good. Hopefully I won't get too many interruptions :)

Over the years, I have heard much about Neil Gaiman’s writing style, but his books were always geared towards children. This book is marked as his first adult read, but it reads more like a children’s fairy tale. There are a few scenes where adult inferences are needed, but other than that it could definitely qualify perhaps for young adults. As a child, I never cared for these types of books, but I found this one to be interesting. Perhaps, because it read more like a novella and was so short. The story began when the narrator, who is now an adult, returns to his childhood home for a funeral. Memories begin flooding back and he is once again seven and experienced his neighbor’s supernatural secrets. This boy was never named in the book, and his character never really developed. As I kept reading this book, I had a distinct feeling of having read this same type of storyline by another author. It may have been the Sisters Grimm books, but I am honestly not sure.

Book: Head Over Heels (Book 4 of Lucky Harbour Series) by Jill Shalvis
Finished 11/9
Rating & Review: ★★★★★
I freaking loved this book. Chloe and Sawyer were sweet, patient and just so captivating.
Chloe is the youngest of the sisters, and the only one Phoebe actually kept. It seemed like she got the best deal, but in Chloe's book, it's clear that Phoebes lack of stability really messed Chloe up.
And Sawyer, his mom's abandonment at 8 made him leery of trusting people. Plus Sawyers dad couldn't be bothered to love him.
What a lonely but passionate pair. What a great journey in letting down emotional barriers and trusting your heart to someone else. Their actual sexual encounter was one of the best written most tender storytelling that I've experienced in a long time. BRAVO!!!
I just bought book 4 on audio.

Megan, how's your book coming? When do you think you will be done? I am waiting to start an audiobook.
(I don't have a book 9 though---so I may have to read alternative choice for the first time)

I was cooking dinner today and the neighbor came over and kept saying how good it smelled until hubby invited him to stay. he didn't care that he'd have to wait at least an hour. he stayed and is still here. I cooked a lemon garlic pepper roast chicken, scalloped potatoes, green beans, dinner rolls, sweet tea and some berry tarts w/ ice cream we got from bakery yesterday. so after dinner I was clearing the table and hubby said, I told you i'd take care of the dishes if you just made scalloped potatoes today. so dropped the dishes and ran upstairs. I went down a few minutes later and they were at the sink washing and drying - they didn't put the dishes in the dishwasher! and my neighbor asked how do you get her to cook like that, my wife can burn water. my husband said you just have to tell her... and looked around and saw me and said oh, uh, she just likes to cook. the look on his face was priceless. ok if you don't think it was as funny as I did. it was hilarious to me.
LOL - so Pat if he hadn't seen you - how do you think he was gonna end that sentence??You're dinner sounds awesome by the way!!
some way that would have guaranteed I wouldn't cook for a few weeks I'm sure. sunday is always a special meal at my house unless my hubby has been sweet as salt!
I like that. I can't do it every Sunday but try for one Sunday a month having a nice/long cooking meal for the family. With RL it doesn't always work out.
for me it wasn't a suggestion it was the rule - even growing up. everything else had to work around it, so it is my rl. its definitely the only day dessert is a must.
We have had a few years where my son was in travel basketball with games on both Sat and Sun so not really feasible. DH in the last two years has bought a sports bar - so football Sun gets in the way at the moment and little girlie girl is in a Lego League that meets on Sun but that I can usually work around
maybe Sunday is just an excuse to not cook the remainder of the week. you've been busy on Sunday's so it doesn't work for you

Read: Christmas at Harmony Hill: A Shaker Story by Ann H. Gabhart
Finished: November 10, 2013
Rating: ★★★
REVIEW:
It's kind of hard to describe my feelings about this book, but I'll try. I loved the beginning with Heather being in the camp with Gideon, her husband, and his fellow soldiers. I love books set during the Civil War and wasn't expecting this Shaker book to take start in the midst of a Northern Army camp - nice surprise. Some parts of the story were really hard to get through, way too many details and not enough dialogue, so that made it tedious to read at times and really slow me down. The ending was sweet, predictable but still sweet.
If you love Shaker novels you would probably enjoy Christmas at Harmony Hill more than I did. Regardless, if you are looking for a different Christmas story and the synopsis of this book sounds interesting to you, I think you should give it a read.
***I received a complimentary copy of this book to review. I was asked to give my honest opinion of the book - which I have done.***
I rolled the die and it was a 4. So we are on space 47 and have to read a book that's #4, #7, or #47 in a series or the alternate item: Red cover, must be at least 50%.Team 7 - Se7en Deadly Sins

I'm too ticked off and haven't decided if I'm going to continue. The childish game of will we or won't we miss our turn is too doggone annoying and sucks the fun right out of the sss part of the game. I'll let you know tomorrow.
Pat & Debbie:
The Cowboys are getting their asses handed to them...and this isn't helping.
Everyone remain calm. Just get a good night sleep and come back tomorrow and let's work this out. Let' me think on how we can bridge the divide. No one should quit please!

Debbie, Ezi, Melissa -- convincing as all get out, you ladies wanna work on world peace now? who know what i'll read - I don't but will do something timely.
I started
by Jill Shalvis (Book 4).
I am really enjoying this series. So I will keep going, although it is screwing up my starter plan:D
Audible has book 5, but not books 6-9 yet. I don't know what I will do.

@Pat, one thing at a time. I was getting ready to send you pics of my boobs or something. But I know you would probably say something snide like one is bigger than the other, or that they are saggy. So I saved my boob pics for when hubby goes out of town next week.
(saving it for someone who likes what I got)
@Megan, thanks for the update. I bet you are glad Scavenger hunt is over, I know I am. I didn't enjoy it as much this time.
Melissa: I love Kels and Irish
Debbie: I gotta do a buddy read with you soon.

I have read a couple of these and liked them. I wonder why audible doesn't have the other books in the series...

I liked ACRO. I thought there was supposed to be another entry to the series soon - which seemed odd with the other books being done a while back.

"Thumbnail Review: Sheltered housekeeper and future entrepreneur Sarah Banks longed for her own business, children and to live her life like one of the merry widows in her romance novels. Marrying her employers deceased son by proxy and adopting his children seemed to be the perfect solution since she wouldn't have to have a husband. Until father, engineer and widower Alex Knight came home after being presumed dead. But he has no intention of re-marrying either. . After quite the rocky start with miscommunications, misunderstandings and rash actions by both Alex and Sarah, this damaged couple began to find a way to each other.
Having never read this author I had no expectation of this read, but I was immediately interested in these characters and couldn't wait to go on this journey. I couldn't stop smiling because Sarah had no real life experience and her actions were based on fictional heroines as she wasn't quite certain how to fit arrogant alpha Alex into the role of romance novel bachelor hero. Just like one of Sarah's novels, Alex and Sarah had a very cute courtship and I enjoyed their good-natured bickering in addition to the close-knit atmosphere provided by the secondary characters. As the couple learned to fall in love and support each other as a family they discover someone is systematically trying to ruin Alex's family's home and business which adds both a bit of suspense and mystery to an otherwise straightforward romance. This light, easy read is perfect for a rainy afternoon. "
@Pat,I thought this book sounded familiar. I read in a few years ago before I started keeping a list. I don't remember much except that I enjoyed it.
@ Debbie & Eziboth of you are shifter fans, that series I just finished Heart of the Wolf by Terry Spear was pretty good. It was 3different major packs, one was highland. and they hold up as stand alones. They were 4 & 5star reads for me but I didn't like it better than Shifters Unbound series.
