David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 350 comments There are some great dystopian lists that might be helpful. Here's one but there are many more :)

http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/49...

My personal favorite dystopian is The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness but I also recommend Unwind (Unwind, #1) by Neal Shusterman Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1) by Susan Ee Gone (Gone, #1) by Michael Grant

Val (valeriepsilva) | 144 comments dystopian books are pretty great
I recomend you The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1) by James Dashner

message 5: by Pamela (new)

Pamela (waterspout) | 370 comments I don't think there's any book as good as the Selection, but Starters, the Hunger Games, and Uglies are pretty great dystopian books.

message 6: by David (new)

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 350 comments Ooh I love Uglies! And THG is definitely good :) I haven't tried Starters or the Selection, I guess I'll have to!

message 7: by Tessa (new)

Tessa (tessa_ioana) | 30 comments Like Divergent and better: The Hunger Games. Then there's also: Legend and Under the never Sky.

And like The Selection: Masque of the Red Death - if you like the glamour mixed up with a little gothic elements, plus it also has a simmilar love triangle.

The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games #1) by Suzanne Collins Legend (Legend, #1) by Marie Lu Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky, #1) by Veronica Rossi Masque of the Red Death (Masque of the Red Death, #1) by Bethany Griffin

Lower your expectations. The author writes beautifully when it comes to transmitting her character's feelings, but she sucks at world building. While reading this you can see that she talks about something she knows nothing about. It's a shame she's so eager to write dystopia. She would be a much better author if she would write slice of life.
That's the only reason why I decided to try her new book: Perfect Lies. If this one turns to be the same as Wither I'm not trying her books anymore :( .

message 16: by Tessa (new)

Tessa (tessa_ioana) | 30 comments I was also sad, the first book really made me very excited, but the story didn't live up to my expectation.

Ugh *lowers expectations* World building is crucial for dystopians, so I might be disappointed in this one :(

message 18: by Tessa (new)

Tessa (tessa_ioana) | 30 comments World building is crucial for dystopians
Yes it is. That's why I think she should re-orientate herself.

Isabella (bellavinter) All of those are of the dystopian YA genre, like Divergent and The Selection. It also features my opinion of them. :)

Slated series 5 stars
Shatter Me series 5 stars
Delirium series 5 stars
Partials series 4,5 stars
Wither series 4,5 stars
Angelfall series 5 stars
Under the Never Sky series 4 stars
Fade 4 stars
The Pledge 4,5 stars
The 5th Wave 4,5 stars
Matched 4 stars

Not dystopian, but YA, and ultimately the best series I have ever read (including my previous favorite, Divergent)

Throne of Glass
Crown of Midnight

Books of the genre that I am planning to read:
Across the Universe
The Knife of Never Letting Go
The Hunt
All Our Yesterdays
Defiance
Mila 2.0
Cinder
Coda
Unwind
Legend
Obsidian
The Maze Runner
Enclave
What's Left of Me
The Program
The Forest of Hands and Teeth
Black City

I hope this gives you some ideas :)
