Hi, I'm Laura. I'm living in Boston right now, attending Boston College for my master's in social work. Up until this year, I was sort of losing my connection with reading since it was easy to say I was too busy. Reading challenges really speak to my competitive, Type A personality and are allowing me really get back into reading. Excited to be active in the group!
Hi! I'm Christ Lewis. I'm an author of self-help books. I love to read self-help and self-improvement books. Nice to know you all.Christ Lewis
Hi! I just joined the group today and I'm excited! I read a lot but have never really kept track of how much. I am a teacher of reading and have a young family as well...a wonderful husband and four kids, 6, 4, and twin almost 2 year olds. Reading is what I do before bed to wind down...I'm excited to be here! :-)
Hello everyone! My name is Kay. I live in Minnesota with my amazing husband. We have two sons, ages 2 and 6. In my free time (when I actually have some!) I enjoy knitting, travelling, quilting, and--of course--reading! I'm really excited to be here and meet some other book lovers!
Hi everyone. My name is Michelle and I live in Southern California. I enjoy reading psychological thrillers, art historical and crime fiction (non-fiction too), but I'm open to reading other books/genres that spark my interest. I've challenged myself to read 25 books this year, and so far, I'm almost halfway already, so I may have to increase that number.I hope to get to know some new people here, and hope to find other bookworms with similar tastes, which will help me find new books to read, and people to discuss them with!
Hi all, I'm Adrian and I've just discovered this group.I'm usually not very good at adding reviews so maybe adding posts in this group will get me into the habit...
Hi you guys, so glad to be here! I'm Katja from Germany, married to an American (that's why I only read English books :) ), I'm a children's and pet photographer in the beautiful medieval town of Marburg. I have two kids and a very rambunctious Airedale Terrier. My favorite books are usually humorous ones, I was heart broken when Terry Pratchett passed away, he has been my favorite author for nearly twenty years. Can't wait to get started in this group!
Hi, my name is Stacey. I like romance or fantasy books but I will read almost anything. I prefer to read books that don't have a big craze over and discovering books/writters :)
Hello group! New member here. My online gaming friends started calling me by my avatar's name, Gil, and I found I liked it better than my real name, which is Maryann, so I used Gil for my goodreads profile. I like to read a lot of books at the same time, so it takes me a while to finish any particular book. I like science fiction and anything that deals with a minority group like lgbtq, or poc. I really like to read novels from other countries or cultures, just any kind of outsider viewpoint. I think I can learn a lot about myself and my culture from reading different points of view.
I've found as I have gotten older it is a bit harder to find kindred spirits. I seem to often end up associating with much younger people on the internet. It's not that I have anything against young people, but I feel like an interloper sometimes.
My voice sounds like a youngling, so most of my gaming friends do not realize they are gaming with an old crone. *Cackle*
Hello everyone! My name is Shaalika, and I'm from Telangana, India. I can't wait to get started on this challenge, having missed nearly four months already!
I read all kinds of books, I don't have a favorite genre...yet. I'm a pretty slow reader and tend to immerse myself in the story. I'll read a sentence over and over again, just because I like the way it's written. Let's hope I finish my target before Dec 31, 2015!
Hello everyone! :)I'm currently a college student, and sometimes it gets difficult to juggle being an English major and reading books for pleasure. I'm excited to make bigger strides to reading more for pleasure as well though! Can't wait!
Ellen
Hello,I am Natalie and love to read all genre. Looking forward to participating in the group challenges and new books to read.
Hi I'm Sophie, I'm 28 (today!) and live in London with my 3 year-old daughter, Niamh, and two 2 year-old cats, Tigger and Merlin.I love reading a range of things, but particularly love horror and ghost stories. I've just been given The Farm and The Devil's Detective which I hope to sink my teeth into soon :)
My 2015 goal is to read 150 books which I can hopefully tie-in with the 51 U.S. States challenge!

Happy Birthday, Sophie!
Hey everyone! I'm Hala and I live in Manchester, UK. I stumbled upon this group at the weekend. I'm currently choosing book 34 of my 35 book challenge that I started in January.I started my challenge thinking that 35 books was rather ambitious in a year for me, so I'm quite chuffed to have got this far! I'll up the ante and extend it to 70 I think and see how I get on.
My intentions for my challenge is to cast my reading net further; try different genres, to reread classics that I remember (and probably wasn't prepared for) from school, but also to try books that I've always wanted to read and have never got round to.
I'll stop rambling now! Toodle pip! :)
oh yeah and my favorite book is um... so many to choose from, it's probably The Invention of Hugo Cabret because it started me wanting to read, I always have a book in my hands.
Hey my names declan and I recently joined. I've been reading for ages and my favourite type of genre would have to be fantasy and fiction. If there's anything I love in books its magic and dragons. ;)
Hi all. I'm Laurene. I love to read and wish I had more time to read. I just got into reading a few years ago. My favorite genres mainly mystery, but every now and then I branch and read the occasional romance especially romantic comedies. I especially love mystery romances.
My name is Amy. I am a criminal defense attorney in the County of Los Angeles. That may sound exciting, and it sometimes is, but I live on the fringe of the county in the desert. My secret dream was to really be a librarian just to be surrounded by books. I draw on stories to connect to juries. I love all genres and wish I had more time to read for pleasure. I tried joining a book club that meets in person but because I live rurally, it was 30 minutes just to get to the meeting. I could not do that with four kids and a husband so I am hoping an online group is a happy medium. I am currently reading several books. Some I read to hone my craft and I always try to read one just for me.
Hi Amy from a fellow SoCal girl! Finding groups that meet in real life is difficult, and one that fits into your schedule is even more challenging, so that's why I joined groups online. Since most of my friends don't enjoy reading (I totally relate to your fantasy of wanting to be surrounded by books...Belle walking into that enormous library is my favorite part of Disney's Beauty and the Beast movie!), this is really the only place I can go to meet people who do, and find recommendations for new books and authors, and discuss.
Hi I'm Jayne, I will read just about anything, not big on sci-fi/fantasy but will give most things a go. I hope to read about 50+ books this year, far more than I usually read but have been off sick since October last year
Hello - My name is Jim. I am 67 years old and have been an avid reader all my life. I have been looking for a place to keep up with my reading and this looks like a good one.
Hi, I'm Michele. I joined Goodreads a couple of years ago, but then I didn't use it for a while. I'm back now, and I love it! I have found so many good books because of recommendations on here. I read just about anything. I'm hoping to read 50+ books in 2015.
Welcome, all! There's quite a lot to the group, so don't feel like you need to participate in everything all at once. Choose areas that sound interesting to you, and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. :)
Hi my name is Jocelyn and I am new to reading but I love it. At the moment I am reading clockwork angel and I love it
Hi, I'm Melissa. I love reading but without challenges i always procrastinate. Thanks to you i won't have this problem anymore.
Hey, I'm Kelly. I really enjoy reading challenges as a way to both figure out what I want to read next and to read things that I might not otherwise read. I'm looking forward to participating in some of the challenges in this group.
I am done reading See Jane Run by Joy Fielding yay!! Book number One now for my next challenge uhmmm I'm not sure yet.
Hi My name is Lee and I'm a stay at home mum to 3 kids. When I have spare time I love reading. Typically I'll try anything but loving YA mostly at the minute.
Hi, my name is Amy, and I'm 22 years old and I live in Adelaide, Australia. I've enjoyed reading from a very young age and some of my favourite genres to read are romance, YA and historical fiction, although I do read a little bit of everything from time to time. I've set myself a challenge of 100 books for the year, and I'm hoping to complete this challenge, although I am a little skeptical of this amount. I've already read 4 books for the year and just started my 5th. Fingers crossed I can stay motivated to get this challenge completed!
Hi! I'm Ana, I just joined the group :)I'm spanish, 27, and I usually read fiction novels, but I really don't have a specific preference.
Hi! My name is Kate [insert very long Thai last name here that you don't need to remember]. I work as a library associate at a public branch with aspirations of becoming a full-time librarian one day; in fact, my mom used to work at a library herself, so you can say that I was basically destined to grow up surrounded by books. :)My favorite genres are speculative fiction (i.e. science fiction and fantasy) and my reading challenge will feature a lot of these books. I do plan to eventually include non-fantasy books, though, as I want to use this challenge as a way to motivate me to try out genres I normally wouldn't read.
Hi, I'm Rachel. I love to read most kinds of books and I'm always open to suggestions and recommendations.
Hi, I'm Emyl.I love reading YA, New Adult, Romance and Urban Fantasy books.
I want to read 70 books this year but I'm already behind my schedule lol
I'm open to recommendations :)
Hi I'm Fallon. I am 27 and from Alberta, Canada!!
I absolutely love reading! (And I have passed my love of reading on to my 14 month old son!) I read almost every type of genre if I find a book that looks interesting in that category. I'm trying to do my first ever challenge this year - the popsugar challenge. I'll post my progress there but so far I have done 5/50 and just started number 6.
Hi I'm MadisonI LOVE reading! My only problem is that I read so fast, I always need new books/ series! I like fantasy books, and I have been reading biographies like the Diary of a Young Girl and the Hiding Place... I don't know what my reading goal would be either...... :) I am open to any book suggestions any of you peoplei have! :D
Have you read snow like ashes, The mortal instruments series, vampire Academy, or the Morganville vampires.?
Hi everyone, I'm Shane....avid reader, addict reader actually. Always looking a new book to accompany my insomnia nights.
Hi, I'm Ryan I live in Illinois and I just started to get back into reading. I have a challenge of 20 books this year and I have 8 down. I also have a 15 month old daughter that takes up most of my time and a new baby boy due in the next few weeks. So i hope i can keep my pace up and get my books read but we will see.
Kristina wrote: "Because I can never decide what to read next, I joined this site so that I could have someone tell me what to read next.I am a 23 year old recent graduate with a degree in English. I plan to study..."
Kristina, I'm going to school to be a librarian too. I am taking the economics route because I love figuring out how people make choices. Impressive collection. I'm working on mine, and I'm close to 1000.
