I'd start with Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs. Actually, just read the description and you'll know if it would appeal. They are very much chicklit/rom-com type of books, though. I love the main character and cast of characters in Nice Girls and got the humor -- if either irritate, you may not like the series but if they appeal you should love it. Humor found in some pretty ridiculous farce type of things.

I have read other Molly Harper books I found "meh" because didn't care for M.C. or were too breezy/glib.

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 2179 comments LOL, probably there ought to be a group read for Archangel's Enigma .

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 2179 comments Echoes of Betrayal (Paladin's Legacy, #3) by Elizabeth Moon Echoes of Betrayal by Elizabeth Moon.

Not likely to be a quick, light read but I've been really wanting to read.

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 2179 comments Nichole wrote: "Thanks Debbie. I'll keep it in mind if it comes up again. Do those books need to be read in order?"

Two completely different series.

I don't think Fire necessarily has to be read in series order in terms of chronological story arc (or even setting, whole other country and culture only glimpsed in other two books). But, I think without reading the first book, Graceling, you will miss a great deal of worldbuilding and not get the characters. I adored the series; but, some really long-ass books and the last one really could have been shorter. Not only considered YA (I don't agree) but one too many YA books recently have annoyingly started saying they are for fans of Graceling, blah, blah, blah ... like fantasy books say they are for fans of Tolkien.

Echoes of Betrayal I'd say definitely needs to be read in series order. Paladin's Legacy is a spinoff series and I'd go even further and recommend first reading the trilogy that started with Sheepfarmer's Daughter or you'll not get the worldbuilding, the character backgrounds or even what the Paladins are. Super-traditional fantasy with possibly more military and fighting than might suit a reader.

Review: Utterly fascinating. Can I stop there? I still have a book hangover several days later and it's hard to put into words just how amazing a read this one was.

I have been into this world and these characters from the start; obviously from my rare ★★★★★ rating that hasn't changed. But, this book in particular has been a standout in the Paladin's Legacy series read so far. Incredibly well-done.

The worldbuilding has stayed true to form and all logically hanging together based on everything that came before--yet still had surprises in store. The non-human races have become even more "alien" yet relatable in a way more common to the best of science fiction than a fantasy that on the surface is fairly formulaic; more of the elves, gnomes, dragons and other elder races. ( Okay, I admittedly have a soft spot for books that don't treat gnomes like lawn ornaments and actually let them have a "race," a society ... and for books that don't just recycle what other books have done with elves and dragons.).

The story and characters ... ooh ... so much has happened and developed. Much of the elves/humans politics still murky. Everything that has happened has made sense and much resolved. Clearly more to go with series, though. Some deaths and injuries, of course, were not happy ones -- Moon doesn't spare the realities of battle. She masterfully balances the story line where it's not all gore and death (certainly not George R.R. Martin levels of character deaths); but, it's not shied away from or all fluff, promotions, victories, romance and pomp.

I'm not sure what I can really detail without major spoilers. I just love reading this story and of these characters. Will of course be continuing on with the series. But, I really need to clear the hangover from this one and wait until I can set aside time for what I expect to be another non-stop read-in-one sitting book.

Big Bad Beast (Pride, #6) by Shelly Laurenston

Finished 9/5/15
Rating: 4♥

Review: I was waiting for Ric's (Ulrich Van Holtz) book. It has been fun watching Dee Ann ignore all of Ric's plays for her in the last two books. His older cousin recruited Dee Ann Smith for the Group and Ric is her immediate boss. Dee Ann doesn't know how to play well with others at all. Until she is put on a task force (with a She Tiger she hates and a full human wife of one of her shifter friends) to see who is behind the recent hybrid fights that have been popping up all over. She is definitely not a warm fuzzy - until you look under what comes out of her mouth and what she actually does for those she cares about. Ric is definitely brains to her brawn and always had her back. So enjoyable watching him use his sexy brain to make Dee Ann 'work' to get him instead of him chasing her.

Review: I didn't enjoy this book and I'm afraid that's the case for the last books in this series.
I was bored to death by the first 5 hours in listening to the audio. It got a bit better later but I'm not happy to have dedicated fiffteen hours of listening to this book. I didn't particularly liked neither Melanthe nor Thronos and I didn't enjoy their enemies-to-lovers romance. I only found interesting and kind of funny the Nix parts.

Book: Thicker Than Blood (Thicker Than Blood, #1) by Madeline Sheehan by Madeline Sheehan
Finished: 9/4/15
Rating:★★★★

I love The Walking Dead, I love zombies and I love survivor stories. That's the reason I picked this book up. Even though it has all of those things in the book, it is actually a story about love. Not a romantic love but a bond of sisterhood and survival. I actually wanted more zombie action and less of the crappy people.

I'm not even sure if I liked it or not. But you gave it 4 stars, you say... This is true. The fact is, I couldn't put it down. I had such strong emotional reactions to the events and characters that it stayed with me for days. I was just so angry and disgusted with humanity and the outcome that I couldn't give it less than 4 stars.

Without giving too much away, I will say that I hope to never live in a world like this. This is not a happy feel good book that leaves a smile on your face after finishing it. It's depressing. In fact, the thought that crossed my mind the most was "What. The. %$#@. is wrong with people!"

There is another book in this series that focuses on one of the secondary characters from this one. I hated that guy. Why does he get his own book?? Will I read it? Hell no! I mean, yeah probably.
